Does this commission EVER say No to these utilities, especially Ameren, who is gobbling up smaller providers, and who collected nearly $1.5 billion, a portion to raze the Rush Island facility, and yet on my Ameren statement I am paying an ADDITIONAL fee to "retire" the Rush Island plant. I am writing to strongly oppose Ameren Missouri’s request to increase electric base rates by $343 million. The Missouri Public Service Commission was created to protect the public interest, not simply to approve utility rate increases. Because Ameren operates as a regulated monopoly across much of Missouri, customers have no meaningful choice in who provides their electricity. We cannot shop for a better price or take our business elsewhere. That makes the Commission our only line of defense against unreasonable rate increases. *See Attached |

I respectfully urge the Missouri Public Service Commission to deny or substantially reduce Ameren Missouri’s request for an additional $343 million in annual electric revenues. Missouri families are already facing higher costs for groceries, housing, insurance, and utilities, and many cannot absorb another increase after recent rate hikes. While grid reliability matters, every expense should be carefully reviewed to ensure it is necessary, cost-effective, and fair to customers. Ameren, as a regulated monopoly, should not pass all costs to captive ratepayers; shareholders should bear a greater share. I was reading the NPR article about the rate increase Ameren requested with the main reason being infrastructure. I am fine with infrastructure being repaired and updated, and I am fine with paying for it. But Ameren cited specific examples such as tornado damage, which does not align with a permanent rate increase. I would be ok with a 1 year increase of 10% and then next year my rate decreasing by that amount. But a permanent rate increase does not make sense for the reasons listed in the NPR article. The last rate decrease was 2020 I think, but you probably have all the data about historic increases and decreases. We have had increases in 22', 23', and the worst being 2025. Does this increases have the be permanent? |

I urge that this rate hike proposal be declined. Ameren has already raised rates significantly over the past couple of years. If Ameren is hurting for money, Ameren needs to take a look at how they spend money and cut bloat out of their budget. Consumer rates should not continue to rise because they want to increase profit margins. Infrastructure upgrades should already be accounted for within budgets, and consumers pay a piece of their rate to cover that. Additionally, Ameren has said they’ve made upgrades to renewable energy, which should help offset costs. We need a new energy company in this area, as Ameren has a monopoly and is taking advantage of customers because there is no other option for the consumer. |

I am reaching out in regard to ameren wanting to increase their rates by $13 a month per customer. Missouri can not afford it. Many adults have to work 2 jobs just to make ends meet anymore. Most people are on budget billing because they cant afford to pay the entire bill every month. I know because I am one of those people. My budget billing was $421 a month for a year, now it is $358. The $358 will increase in the fall because it is summer and people are using more energy to keep their home cool. $13 may not sounds like a lot, but take it from me, when you're already struggling and these companies want to keep raising their rates it is worse than a struggle, it's a fight to survive. I appose of this rate hike as a worker for the railroad i haul coal to these plants. I have seen tiktok videos of their workers surfer on trains derailing them and drinking in the job. All the while they build solar farms north of Dexter missouri. My utility bill has increased over $100 from last year. I have had several "brown outs" in.the past few weeks. The Ameren technician reported rhat my equipment was in good order . However, since Ameren has reduced tree trimming efforts, leaves on trees touching the lines cause this issue. This is very concerning because reduced power stresses my appliances and a/c unit. Only the last outage we had, on a sunny and fairly windless day, was restored in a timely manner. I do understand the storms caused outages. Ameren's rates over the past 5 years (since 2020) have risen more than 10% (winter 8 months) and more than 30% (summer 4 months) for an average increase in cost per kwh of ~28-30%. I'll qualify this by stating that my calculations include all fees. My electric usage has actually DECREASED by 28% (summer months) and ~17% (all months) during that same time period (due to efficiency upgrades and newer HVAC) yet my total costs continue to rise despite the efficiencies I've implemented at my single-family house. We had a storm last night in our area. We have been without power for almost 24 hours without any updates and when we call customer service they tell us we can stay in a hotel. Other smaller areas got a quick turnaround but I am one of 88 without power and no one has even looked at the perlite down due to a tree. The tree was removed early today. Robert filed an informal complaint against Ameren (CI202700171). As a result of the informal complaint investigation, Robert is filing a comment into Ameren's current rate case. At the time he established service with Ameren, Ameren did not offer or advise him of the prior customer's rate plan. Once summer rates went into effect June 1, Robert's bills went way up in cost. Due to current tariff language, he is not eligible for a rate plan change until 1 year of service, which is January 2027. This is costing an estimated $8,000 in additional costs. He is requesting that Ameren's tariff language change to allow a rate request change at least once per year, and to require Ameren to offer different rate plans at time service is established. |

It took getting the public commission to get them to look into it AND they repeatedly told them one story, me something else. Brief power outages and surges took out my a/c, a/c coil, microwave panel, stove, garage door opener, and more according to my electrician - around $10,000 that I got not one cent for. As a retired couple in Fenton, we are strongly opposed to another electric rate hike. We are in our 70s. Due to health reasons, we have our adult daughter living with us. We still have over $100,000 left to pay off on our mortgage. We have budgeted carefully our entire marriage, eventually learning to live better than paycheck to paycheck. Enough is enough! Between gas, food, healthcare, insurance, and utilities, it is eating up any extra we try to save. My son is a pipe fitter. Even when offered overtime-plus, there aren’t nearly enough tradespeople willing to rush-build all of the unwelcome DATA CENTERS that you are asking us to pay for. Stop asking us for more. It is not there to give. |

I have been made aware that Ameren Missouri is asking for yet another rate increase. Electricity bills have become increasingly unaffordable for many families. It is unethical to continue to allow them to raise rates at the rate they have been. Our electric bills have doubled in the last year. They are monopolizing electricity in our areas which I thought was illegal. I want to see more companies provide electricity so Ameren can have some competition. Reduce the electricity rates so everyone can afford to live!!! |

I am disabled and my mother is elderly and disabled. To be subjected to another extreme rate hike by Ameren after just dealing with a significant one this past year and several in recent years we thinks is absurd. Why is should we accept the burden for these data centers? They are supposed to recoup those costs from them! Please consider those of us with limited incomes. Thank you. |

This rate increase is unnecessary. I can’t even pay it as it is and keep getting disconnect notices so adding more to the bill will basically mean I won’t have electricity. I am a single mom with 3 kids and two jobs and cannot possibly get another job just to pay one bill. It’s high enough as it is. Get the bigger companies not the little houses that people are struggling to afford anyway. |

My name is Kim Fothen. I live in crestwood MO. I’m married and have 4 children school age. Please do not approve a third price hike for Ameren. My personal bill is already $300 which is too high. My groceries and gas bill have increased in just the last two years. I have three children in high school and I’d like to be able to help them pay for college tuition. Ameren! You should be ashamed!! 12% increase in 2026. 10% increase in 2027? Outrageous and unnecessary!! Cost of living raises may be at 3%. Health insurance is skyrocketing in 2027. Food prices are astronomical. You provide a service; a resource necessary to live!! Lower income, fixed income folks will suffer. We all witnessed extreme heat warnings this summer. Without affordable air conditioning, people will become ill; lives will be lost!! 22% increase in 2 years. 50% in 5??? As a necessary service, and one that monopolizes the market, it is your responsibility to be just. Rethink focusing on the "big picture", not just year by year. I’m writing to state my opposition to the subject rate hike proposed by Ameren. In the first nine months of 2026, my Ameren electric bills have totaled almost $2215, a $199 increase over the same period in 2025. This is a 9% increase over 2025 and now Ameren is asking for an additional 10% increase. A retiree on a fixed income cannot continue to afford these rate increases that far exceed the CPI. |

How much more blood from a stone can a monopoly charge its users for a vital service? My bill has increased 30% already this year with no increase in usage. They are acting like the monopoly they are and there is little consumer protection or oversight. Please do not allow any more rate increases. It puts burdens on working families and costs the tax payer more when more people need relief from a price gouged system of rate increases. |
