P202300012 7/15/2022 12:22 PM I think it is not only frustrating, but immoral on the part of Evergy to raise rates with the current state of the union. With inflation soaring to near 9%, wage buying power is falling fast- and they want to raise rates during this because of their mistake? I am also doubtful that these rates will ever go down once the "mistake" has been rectified. After all, why not just pocket more money of the struggling American populace? Please, cut us a break. Do not raise electric rates.

On top of that, the anticipated increase will give the company a 5% raise, no - subscribers should not be on the hook to make Evergy and other utility companies richer. Please see attached document.
P202300014 7/15/2022 1:26 PM Please do not allow Evergy to raise rates. They are charging us for their poor business planning and at this time, in this economy this will break the bank for a lot of individuals who will have to chose energy over dinner. I have no choice on who I get my energy from and this monopoly is now raking us over the coals. If they get a price hike each time their poor planning bites them they will never be responsible for their actions. Side with the people/ voters and say no to Evergy.

They provide a public utility and their main priority should be providing that service, not to make profits. This is another example of price gouging disguised as inflation, and I don't think Every should be rewarded for taking advantage.
P202300018 7/15/2022 2:09 PM I am not above begging to be heard. My 86 year old Mom and I are both on fixed incomes. We have had to reach out to other family members for financial assistance to pay our electric bill. When Evergy took over KCP&L, there were promises of lower rates. Our rates have never gone down since Evergy came on board. Please remember that a huge % of your customers need lower rates. Please.

People cannot go without power or opt out of it, many people are struggling to afford rent and utilities, to raise rates for the sake of profit in this case is just plain childrens story evil.
P202300021 7/15/2022 2:58 PM In a time where everyone is tightening their belts to survive it is absolutely unconscionable that Evergy is reaching into the pockets of Kansas Citians to ensure they get their increased profitability. What happened to their promise of savings made in the 2018 merger? Or was that another lie? Across the city and state Missourians are suffering from increased bills. Allowing this will put more people under water.
P202300022 7/15/2022 3:29 PM Evergy's internal negligence with regard to the winter storm of 2021 is wholly their own issue and the downstream cost of their negligence should not be unfairly forced onto their customer base – especially not with their intent to make a 5% profit. Evergy is already a multi-billion dollar corporation and for them to feel they have the right to raise rates on consumers who are already hurting due to things like inflation and the rising cost of rent and housing is unjust and wrong.

The merger of KCP&L and Westar was to provide benefits and savings as a combined company. Making customer in a monopoly pay for the company's mistakes is unconscionable.

You're using the guise of inflation to accomplish this. The money will actually go to the shareholders and the executives. How much is enough? You're actively contributing to creating health problems, finance problems, hunger problems and more for people who are barely hanging on. When does it end? You said in 2018 that a merger would help keep costs low. Do it.

I just had my highest bill to date with some of the lowest usage in warmer months AND you are requesting a rate increase to make up for the disaster that was Feb 2021. Please explain. This is unacceptable and at this point should be considered theft.
P202300031 7/15/2022 3:59 PM I am writing to comment on the proposed 5% rate increase to our electric prices by Evergy. This SHOULD NOT happen as my household specifically are already on a financial strain with inflation on everything from food to gas. I cannot afford more increases. Evergy is making PLENTY of profit. Just look at the salaries of their executives. CEO - David Campbell - 11 million CFO and Executive VP - Kirkpand Andres - 6.8 million CFO and former Executive VP - Anthony Somma - 3.1 million
P202300035 7/15/2022 4:08 PM Power- something that is a necessity to maintain the average American standard of living just as much as running water is- already costs quite a lot, even for a single-person household like myself. Raising costs of power production to the individual is equivalent to saying that the American standard of living is too high, and everyone who is unable to sacrifice less necessary things should go back to living in the 1700's with candles (aka fire hazards).
P202300037 7/15/2022 4:10 PM I disagree with approving the rate hike. Was told in 2018 that the KCP&L and Wester merger would create cost efficiencies resulting in cost savings for customers. Instead they are asking to raise rates and give them a 5% profit.

Additionally, savings generated by this merger will be shared with you through bill credits.” What happened to consumer savings?
P202300039 7/15/2022 4:22 PM Simply put, I don't see any reason to raise the already-high rates to even new highs. The infrastructure has not been improved, and quite simply this is a matter of corporate greed and price gouging. It's funny how the rates never seem to go down, isn't it?
P202300040 7/15/2022 4:32 PM As a recent resident who just moved in to KC, now finding out about our electric company hiking rates to make up for issues on their end. We should not be paying for Evergy's mismanagement when we are already paying incredibly high rates and dealing with rampant inflation. The city I was in before has FAR better rates for electric and gas then what we pay here, and we would be more than happy to go back. I can easily look up the company's promises for their merger and see they've done none of it
P202300041 7/15/2022 4:37 PM Evergy should not being raising it’s rates in order to get a larger profit percentage. When this private company took on and bid for this, it was granted to them under the promos of cost savings. They should not be allowed to change that at the publics expense.

This will reflect poorly upon the state legislators and show that they are not in tune with their constituents. Please vote against raising rates at a time like this.

Energy costs and similar recurring expenses are absolutely crushing, and now is not the time to increase them. I know this is not the only comment expressing these concerns - I hope you’ll take them into good faith consideration.
P202300050 7/15/2022 10:22 PM Do not approve an additional charge on customers bills to cover the Extraordinary cost of fuel supplies during the Feb. 2021 Winter Storm. The price of wholesale gas hit $5,000 due to their free market. Since Evergy West retired several generators without adding any capacity, they have to use PAs to service their customers.Evergy should not charge us for their poor decisions, let alone earn a profit over the next 15 years.
