---|---|---|
P202100644 | 4/5/2021 1:21 PM | Base Rate increase of $12 a month is outrageous and way too drastic of an increase and will hurt a lot of residents. |
P202100646 | 4/9/2021 4:46 PM | (JE) Barry Smythe called upset over Ameren Missouri's rate increase request. He believes that the rate increase is way too much and they shouldn't be asking for an increase due to the pandemic due to Covid-19. He wants the PSC to deny the rate increase. |
P202100647 | 4/12/2021 10:26 AM | (co) Customer called opposing the proposed rate increase. He stated this is getting out of hand with the way times are now. Everybody is out of work. It doesn't seem like a real appropriate time again. They need to live beyond their means. He knows their wanting to get the solar energy plant going, but no need to increase the rates at once. |
P202100649 | 4/12/2021 3:25 PM | (tb) Gleneth stated they retired & on social security, she is opposed to the rate increase. Said with cost of her medicine, she went in the hole last year & they can't afford an increase for utilities. |
P202100650 | 4/13/2021 8:38 AM | (DF)Mr. and Mrs. Byrd are opposed to Ameren's proposed rate increase. They believe Ameren is not spending wisely and would like their financial dealings investigated. See attached Public Comment for details. |
P202100652 | 4/14/2021 9:34 AM | (DF)Mr. Fehlig is against Ameren's proposed rate increase. He is on a fixed income and would like the PSC to stop allowing Ameren to raise their rates ever time they ask. See attached for details. |
P202100656 | 4/16/2021 2:36 PM | see attached - opc |
P202100657 | 4/16/2021 3:22 PM | See attached - opc |
P202100803 | 6/2/2021 9:13 AM | (DF)Mr. Belfield is against Ameren's proposed rate increase. He believes that they ask for one every year and enough is enough. He is on a fixed income and cannot afford a rate increase of any kind. |
P202100878 | 6/9/2021 3:31 PM | Do Not want smart meters. Ameren shouldn't be allowed to charge $100 fee plus $40/month for refusing the smart meter! |
P202100896 | 6/14/2021 2:41 PM | (co) Customer called stating all over the city and county of St. Louis he sees street lights and substation lights on throughout daylight hours when the sun is shining nice and brightly. He is concerned because of wasting resources, polluting air, wearing out equipment, and costing ratepayers. He doesn't understand why Ameren is spending money to advertise. He again is paying for that. It's outrageous what Ameren is making. If they can't keep the lights off, they're not earning their salary. |
P202200002 | 7/8/2021 9:47 AM | (co) Customer called stating the paid her bill for 4/26/2021-5/25/2021. She then received a new bill for 4/26/2021-6/24/2021. Her charges were adjusted to reflect the seasonal rate. This is horrifying, a monopoly, and can't believe they do this stuff. |
P202200005 | 7/12/2021 7:33 AM | (DF)There was a thunderstorm and it knocked out power to part of the Skinker Debalivere neighborhood. It has been 17 hours since we have had power. This is ridiculous. Ameren has been raising our electric rates for years claiming they are improving the reliability and there have been more outages in the last 5 years than I have experienced in the last 20. See attached. |
P202200007 | 7/12/2021 11:47 AM | (DF)Caller does not believe Ameren is looking out for the best interest of their customers. He thinks Ameren is looking out for other utility providers like AT&T rather than residential customers. He has a tree in his back yard that is not interfering with his power line, Ameren is wanting to trim that tree for AT&T. He has a tree in his front yard that is interfering with his power line. Ameren will not trim that tree. He does not think Ameren should be allowed a rate increase. |
P202200008 | 7/12/2021 2:44 PM | (DF)Ms. Talley believes Ameren should provide more detailed notification during outages. She also believes Ameren should update the information they provide regularly. |
P202200010 | 7/22/2021 8:18 AM | (JE) Connie called upset over rate increase request & believes Ameren does not trim trees like they should. Connie is opposed to the increase & believes Ameren's executives make way too much money & they don't need an increase. |
P202200032 | 8/17/2021 7:27 AM | (DF)Ms. Roff-Mickan believes that Ameren should not be granted a rate increase until they raise their level of service. She believes all of the above ground wiring should be moved underground to avoid the large number of outages St. Louis experiences. |
P202200035 | 8/17/2021 8:24 AM | (DF)Belinda is opposed to Ameren's proposed rate increase. She is also opposed to Ameren suggesting using large appliances (washer, dryer, dishwasher) during off-peak time. She believes that to be "quiet time" and those appliances are noisy. She would also like to suggest the Commission appoint someone qualified from a lower income neigborhood to be a voice for that community. |
P202200036 | 8/17/2021 2:55 PM | (co) Customer called stating she's had UPA around her neighborhood installing smart meters. She's lived in her home for 49 years. This is ridiculous. They need less government control. If want to do something like this, put it in a vote. Her bills are going down, not a big user. Feels like they're making you do this. |
P202200039 | 8/19/2021 10:54 AM | (DF)Mr. and Mrs. Flachs believe that as Ameren customers they are experiencing outages more often than they should. They believe that there is a systemic problem with Ameren's operations. They would like to see the MPSC use its authority to get this issue fixed. See attached for entire P.C. |
P202200040 | 8/23/2021 3:53 PM | (JE) Barry called wanting the PSC to deny Ameren's rate increase request. Barry believes rates are already high enough and that due to the Covid-19 pandemic no rate increases should be approved. |
P202200043 | 8/25/2021 1:00 PM | See attached for public comment |
P202200044 | 8/25/2021 1:23 PM | (co) Customer called stating he's against the proposed rate increase. He is on a fixed income. |
P202200045 | 8/26/2021 2:17 PM | (co) Customer called stating this is outrageous. She's watching all lights, and cold water wash. She does everything they say to do to save money then they go ahead and do a rate increase. She bought energy saving light bulbs. Her air is set on 79 to save. She's on social security. She's just floored that this would even happen. |
P202200046 | 8/26/2021 2:26 PM | see attached for public comment |
P202200047 | 8/27/2021 8:31 AM | (DF)To whom it may concern and commissioners: In response to Ameren's ask for a fee increase: a most emphatic no! See attached for entire P.C. |
P202200048 | 8/27/2021 9:18 AM | (DF)Ms. Sterling-Scott believes Ameren should not be granted a rate increase. She thinks Ameren should move all of their power lines underground, to avoid service outages. She also thinks Ameren's customer service dept. doesn't tell the truth when informing their customers as to what is actually being done to prevent outages. |
P202200049 | 8/27/2021 12:38 PM | To whom it may concern, I am writing as a customer of Ameren Missouri both residential and small business owner customer. I am very concerned about Ameren's potential rate increase and ask that it not be approved. We all are in difficult times and many are struggling both as families and small business owners. An unnecessary utility rate increase will create an additional burden on us to make ends meet. large 11.97% rate increase is not feasible. Please do not allow this filing to be approved |
P202200050 | 8/27/2021 1:08 PM | (DF)To whom it may concern, I am writing as a customer of Ameren Missouri both residential and small business owner commercial customer. I am very concerned about Ameren's potential rate increase and ask that it not be approved. See attached for entire P.C. |
P202200051 | 8/27/2021 1:13 PM | (DF)MY comment on yor rate hearing notice and requested 12% (approx) increase. From what I read in the letter, Ameren cynically engineered early decomissioning of two perfectly good coal fired (I assume clean coal) generating plants (Sioux and Rush Island) by rejiggering their depreciation to arrive at an earlier date in order to justify investment in two wind production facilies in northern Missouri. See attached for entire P.C. |
P202200052 | 8/27/2021 2:48 PM | (tb) lady called who wanted to be anonymous, she is opposed to rate increase, she is on disability & can't afford higher rates. |
P202200054 | 8/30/2021 8:47 AM | (DF)Dear Sirs or Madams: Ameren Missouri wants an 11.97% rate increase? NO!!!, please. We are all still trying to recoup from the lost wages of the "planned-demic", and rates should be frozen until the government incompetents quit trying to shut down the economy. Please decline Ameren's request for a rate increase. We are suffering enough right now! |
P202200055 | 8/30/2021 1:04 PM | See Attached |
P202200057 | 8/31/2021 9:03 AM | See Attached |
P202200058 | 8/31/2021 10:52 AM | See Attached |
P202200059 | 8/31/2021 1:12 PM | (DF)We received a letter saying you were going to raise our rates yesterday. NO, it just can not be done. We are on a limited income and senior citizens and we have scraped the bottom of the barrel for way too long. My husband retired at 48 due to disabilities and we owe more on our house now than we gave for it 38 years ago. During the Trump Reign of Terror there was no raises on anything. Now there is hope of a little bit and you plan to take it? See attached |
P202200060 | 9/1/2021 7:32 AM | (DF)I am concerned with the recent notification that Ameren Missouri is requesting a rate increase. It is too big of an increase (11.97%) at one time. An increase of approximately $11.78 PER MONTH ($141 per year before taxes) is too overwhelming. |
P202200061 | 9/1/2021 7:36 AM | (DF)We have read through the purported explanation for this rate increase and our response is that this proposed rate increase in inordinately high and that this expense will be a financial hardship for us and for other residential homeowners. See attached for entire P.C. |
P202200062 | 9/1/2021 12:41 PM | (JB) "They want to raise prices $11.78/month but handicapped people are on a set income every month. How are they supposed to absorb this cost? Elderly, please as well. We have so many power outages that don't warrant an increase. This is price gouging and Ameren needs more competition so they can't do this. Whenever I pass an Ameren site there are 8 employees there but only 1 person working. That is ridiculous. How about the CEO takes a cut in pay? |
P202200063 | 9/1/2021 4:04 PM | (DF)Ms. Kaplan informed me that she believes Ameren should tighten up their billing practices. She also believes Ameren should provide additional information regarding usage, allowing customer's to better understand their electric bills. I called and spoke to Ms. Kaplan after receiving complaint. |
P202200064 | 9/1/2021 4:40 PM | (co) Customer called stating as a captive vendor he doesn't understand why they're spending money to advertise. Seems like a waste of money costing the rate payers more to pay for electric. Also, they have lights on at their facilities 24/7. That's wasting energy, polluting environment, and wearing out equipment quicker costing rate payers money. As a person on social security their income isn't going anywhere near the rate increase they're wanting. Do the executives really need to make 10M? |
P202200065 | 9/2/2021 8:19 AM | (DF)I hope the PSC is getting as tired as I am of the constant barrage of rate increase requests from Ameren. So now they want a 12% increase. And people on hell still want icewater! They've got to learn to understand who their customers are; we are not millionaires like their CEO. Why not start by zero-basing the Ameren overhead to save millions. Request that the PSC deny this request; not negotiate something lower; and inform Ameren to get real! |
P202200066 | 9/2/2021 8:23 AM | (DF)Regarding the local public hearing notice on Amerens request to increase electrical rates 11.97% and gas rates by 6.4%. I would like to oppose the increase. I am a senior living on a fixed income and would love to see my income increase by the amounts that they are requesting. |
P202200068 | 9/2/2021 8:28 AM | (JE) Steven opposes Ameren's request for a rate increase. He believes rates are already high enough and the timing of the increase request is bad with Covid-19 still being an issue for a lot of people. Steven also believes that Ameren has too many service outages to ask for an increase. |
P202200069 | 9/2/2021 9:52 AM | See Attached |
P202200070 | 9/2/2021 11:43 AM | (co) Customer called stating he continues to hear Ameren say that customers will have more control by installing smart meters. Some customers aren't going to be able to have more control. |
P202200071 | 9/3/2021 7:49 AM | See attached for comments |
P202200072 | 9/3/2021 10:00 AM | See Attached |
P202200073 | 9/7/2021 7:51 AM | (DF)To Whom It May Concern, My name is Bill Clevlen - I am a resident of St. Louis County. I'm hopeful that the people in place to read these comments actually do take them into consideration and make decisions based on public input. It seems these days that no one in public office actually listens to us. See attached for entire P.C. |
P202200074 | 9/7/2021 8:01 AM | (DF)I would like to comment. How much does this have to increase and does it have to continue to go up in perpetuity. I have a modest house in festus Missouri and I already pay 280.00 a month. That is one of my major bills a month now. Where is the end with the amount of money that is chargeable. I say NO do not raise this forever it hurts Republicans and Democrats equally. We the people will hold those responsible at the ballot box if this passes. |
P202200075 | 9/7/2021 8:39 AM | (tb) Fred it opposed to the 12% rate increase, he is fed up with it. When did we get to the point in the country that the utility company can make 100%, why do they have to make 100% profit, why can't their profit be only 50% |
P202200076 | 9/7/2021 8:44 AM | Completely disagree with Ameren raising rates. Not to mention the fuel surcharge that is coming back which they hung onto after fuel prices went down for over a yr. Wish I could start a bus. where the state allows these companies to raise the rates to build power plants then come back & charge us for it. When is enough is enough? |
P202200077 | 9/7/2021 10:02 AM | (TH-OPC) This email is in regards to Ameren Missouri wanting to up residential customers bills. Homeowners have been struggling to pay bills and overcome the financial burdens that accompanied the pandemic. Large companies such as Ameren should respect this and not request bill increases at such a time! I am against this 100%!!!!! A concerned homeowner, Mother of three, trying to put her kids through college, middle class citizen, and emergency room worker. Suzanne Mann |

P202200081 | 9/7/2021 3:47 PM | (DF)Ms. McMath would like Ameren to re-format their billing. She also believes satellite "air-skypes" have caused high electric bills See attached. |
P202200084 | 9/8/2021 10:06 AM | (JB) "Why should Ameren be allowed to raise their rates 6.5% when they're already making multi-millions of dollar? There doesn't seem to be any justification for this raise they're trying to do. It doesn't seem they are considering us low-income people or retirees; they're just trying to make more money off of us." |
P202200085 | 9/8/2021 12:47 PM | Ameren just had an increase a year ago. I do not agree with yet another increase, other taxes should already be set aside for this project. Ameren is making it impossible and hard for customers of low / middle income paying utility bills with all these increases. reference case No. ER-2021-0240 |
P202200086 | 9/8/2021 1:58 PM | (co) Customer called stating this is kind of on the high side. A lot of people are struggling. She doesn't think they should get it. They've been around for a long time making money as it is. She is concerned. |
P202200087 | 9/8/2021 3:32 PM | (co) Customer called stating it's a little bit ridiculous to raise prices during COVID-19 pandemic when more people are out of work than ever. The last perspective said, "record profits last year and this year". |
P202200088 | 9/8/2021 4:27 PM | (co) Customer called stating he's on social security. It doesn't pay bills. We don't need an increase on electric. Let the seniors out of it. |
P202200089 | 9/9/2021 3:22 PM | See Attached |
P202200090 | 9/9/2021 5:56 PM | Case # ER-2021-0240 I wish to voice my opposition, to the proposed rate increases by Ameren UE. Please see attached submittal. |
P202200091 | 9/10/2021 11:12 AM | (JB) "How are people on social security supposed to keep up with this type of increase? $12 a month is a lot of money and I know I'm not the only one this will affect." |
P202200092 | 9/10/2021 11:20 AM | With regard to case ER-2021-0240 i wish to state my opposition. While i have great regard for Ameren, the timing is just very bad. With the pandemic still going on, retirees are suffering all over the state. As a former utility worker, i know that there are ways the company could save money to at least reduce the amount of this increase. An increase of 11.97 % at one time will just hurt too many folks with limited incomes. |
P202200093 | 9/12/2021 7:38 AM | I do not support the request by ameren for a rate increase. Ameren has done a terrible job of maintaining electric lines. If they want an increase, they need to provide a plan for increasing their effectiveness at maintaining power rather than asking for more money to continue their poor performance. |
P202200094 | 9/12/2021 12:19 PM | I am opposed to the proposed Ameren Missouri rate increase. It is deceptive in description that it raises the average customer bill by $11.78. In fact if you are a total electric home utility, your rate will be much higher. My bill would rise to $18.07/mo, or $217/yr. This is really hard for those that are living on SS alone. Also, why should the consumer pay for Ameren research projects such as wind turbines, while they are not producing full time electricity. |
P202200095 | 9/12/2021 1:19 PM | case no er-2021-0240 Hello - while I agree that we should pay for our resources, in this case decommissioning Amerin's chosen power source, the coal plants, was a risk they took to support there business . There shareholders should be taking on the responsibility of shutting them down. I have no doubt that Amerin has more than made there profit from these and i don't believe I should have to pay, for all of my accounts, them more money that is just part of there doing business. |
P202200096 | 9/12/2021 3:41 PM | The building of two additional Wind Power production facilities is the wrong direction for Ameren Missouri. The problems with these types of facilities are: the equipment is not USA made, the equipment is ruins the appearance of the landscape, and the equipment is unsightly. Natural gas is plentiful in the USA. It is also relatively clean burning. |
P202200097 | 9/12/2021 7:17 PM | Myself and my wife do not think that Ameren mo. should be approved for the almost 12% increase that they are asking for. Seems like they are always seeking more money one way or another. Our quality of constant power does not improve with them getting more money. Please deny their request. Thank you. |
P202200098 | 9/13/2021 10:03 AM | (co) Customer called stating everybody around here is having a very hard time. She doesn't know why they want to do this. She's against it. She gets one check a month. It doesn't go very far. |
P202200099 | 9/13/2021 11:36 AM | (JE) Michael submitted email public comment regarding routine outages for Ameren to do work. He believes there should be rules in place that prevent routine work when weather is too hot or too cold. SEE ATTACHED |
P202200101 | 9/14/2021 2:17 PM | (co) Customer called asking why when stock is higher than ever make a consumer pay more? He stated Ameren is making record profits. Now they want to raise the price up for consumer utilities. Going into a black winter with COVID on top of it. |
P202200102 | 9/14/2021 3:43 PM | (tb) Michael is opposed to 11% rate increase, he sees various Ameren workers "just standing around" on job sites, the workers just don't work. Very inefficient & poor management. This is an outdated company |
P202200105 | 9/14/2021 4:42 PM | (JB) "My concern is 1.) the gov't has had to pay for people's housing/food/utilities and now Ameren is wanting to charge an extra $12/month? The fact of the matter is that if we're going to decrease the energy cost of $47 million, why are they needing this money up front? The letter sent by Ameren doesn't really explain why they're wanting to make the changes; just that they can raise it. An Ameren CSR told me today that the customer's don't get a vote or a say; just that we can voice our opini |
P202200106 | 9/14/2021 4:52 PM | (JE) Jeffrey young is upset over the PSC granting a variance to Ameren regarding billing meter readings no longer being on the bills. He uses this information to calculate his bills to ensure he is being billed correctly. Under the new bill formal he cannot do that. He would like variance to not be allowed anymore and old bill formal back |
P202200107 | 9/15/2021 9:29 AM | See attached |
P202200108 | 9/15/2021 11:19 AM | (JB) "I don't feel Ameren should increase the rates due to 1.) we are retired and on a limited income that would put a strain on what we're trying to get paid off. An increase like that would really put a hole in our funds. I'm sure there are others out there in the same criteria that we are. Also, many are unemployed and trying to maintain their home and this would put a strain on them. I don't understand their reason for wanting to increase this as many of us can't afford it." |
P202200109 | 9/15/2021 1:24 PM | (DF)Ameren Missouri is facing a huge problem created by unproven computer models on climate change. In the 1970’s we were told of an oncoming ice age, then after 10 years the ice age failed to arrive, it was changed to Global Warming and now to climate change so every possibility is encompassed. See attached for entire P.C. |
P202200110 | 9/15/2021 3:25 PM | I am writing again to vehemently protest the rate increase sought by Ameren. In another attempted money grab, they want us to foot the bill for their misuse of funds and lawsuits. This company does not care about its customers and only the bottom line. It is their job to provide electricity since they are the monopoly of the area. Consumers have no other options than to pay the exorbitant rates they set. Any increases allowed should result in investigations into those that approve it. |
P202200111 | 9/16/2021 8:50 AM | The average increase of 11.78 monthly shown on the public hearing notice is outrageous. Had to reread it several times since at first I thought that would be the total for a year. 11.78 a month is too much. Why can't it be 1.78 a month? You guys and every other utility increase are! going to drive homeowners into foreclosures. And we are hostages as you are the only utility we can use |
P202200112 | 9/16/2021 9:32 AM | (DF)I am writing again to vehemently protest the rate increase sought by Ameren. In another attempted money grab, they want us to foot the bill for their misuse of funds and lawsuits. This company does not care about its customers and only the bottom line. It is their job to provide electricity since they are the monopoly of the area. See attached. |

P202200115 | 9/16/2021 3:27 PM | (DF)I am particularly concerned about the almost 12% raise in the utility bills requested to begin February 2022. Not only does this put the maximum burden on the elderly, fixed income, and the poor/unemployed, it also leaves me with a lot of questions as to why this is necessary now, when there is rampant inflation in all the basic necessities of life. See attached for entire P.C. |
P202200117 | 9/17/2021 10:04 AM | See Attached |
P202200118 | 9/20/2021 7:57 AM | (DF)This is like a broken record with all the utilities. Let us see the state of America and Missouri. Well many people have died from Covid, people are living on stimulus money ( we are becoming a Socialistic country), many are going to lose there homes or apartments, there are hundreds of hiring signs out but many are being paid to stay home, many wages are not a living wage. See attached for complete P.C. |
P202200119 | 9/20/2021 8:37 AM | (DF)Ms. Todd is against Ameren's proposed rate increase. She just moved into the area, and had researched utility bills/rates before moving in. She signed a lease with the understanding her utility costs would be a certain amount. A rate increase would make it very tough on her as she is on a fixed income. |
P202200120 | 9/20/2021 9:15 AM | (co) Customer called stating this is too much with inflation running as high as it is today. Too much to put on the customer. Can accept 5% range, but cannot support 12%. |

P202200126 | 9/20/2021 2:07 PM | I urge you to regulate Ameren and deny this increase. |
P202200127 | 9/20/2021 2:09 PM | (co) Customer called stating it should not be granted. Grew up knowing a lot about them. Run over people. Charge exorbitant prices. Seen abuses. Detrimental to jobs and people. Only thing doing is making someone a lot of money out of this deal. |
P202200128 | 9/20/2021 2:10 PM | I vote NO for this increase. The cost of living keeps going up but SS doesn't. We are on fixed incomes and keep getting slammed with increases. Can't afford another one. |
P202200129 | 9/20/2021 2:55 PM | See attached |
P202200131 | 9/21/2021 8:02 AM | (DF)So Ameren wants a 12% raise. RIDICULOUS!!! They need to run this business like real people run their lives. This rampant inflation is killing the regular people that aren't rich, and Ameren is a monopoly, so we have no other options for electric. Please protect us and STOP IT, just stop it right now!!! See attached for entire P.C. |
P202200132 | 9/21/2021 8:29 AM | (DF)Mr. Hutchins believes a 11.97% rate increase is ridiculous, and doesn't know why consumers should have to pay a premium for wind power. He also believes Ameren shouldn't retire their coal plants early in order to switch to wind power. Ameren has spent a lot of money updating and maintaining their coal power plants, |
P202200133 | 9/21/2021 9:45 AM | (DF)Mr. Bray is against Ameren's proposed rate increase. He is in the process of rehabbing a home, and converting it to all electric. At the time of his call, due to a power outage, he was in the dark attempting to pay his electric bill. He believes Ameren should be able to operate efficiently at the rates they are currently charging. |
P202200134 | 9/21/2021 9:51 AM | See Attached |
P202200135 | 9/21/2021 9:56 AM | I oppose the proposed rate increase. Ameren is already our most expensive utility (several fold higher than Spire and water). Ameren is also the least competent and least efficient. They have frequent, sometimes long, outages. Energy charges stay high even when we are away, with minimal use of AC and no use of other appliances. Ameren already charges far too much to residential customers. Any additional increase is unconscionable, particularly when people haven't recovered from the pandemic. |
P202200136 | 9/21/2021 10:03 AM | (DF)As a residential customer, I hereby oppose the rate increase proposed by Ameren Missouri. Electric service from Ameren is already our most expensive utility (costing 3 times more than Spire gas and 4-5 times more than American Water). Ironically, Ameren is also the least competent and least efficient utility. They have frequent, sometimes long, outages. See attached for entire P.C. |
P202200137 | 9/21/2021 11:28 AM | (DF)Sir: I am opposed to the $11.78 dollar increase asked by Ameren Missouri. I am 82 years old & my wife is 76 years old. I am A Navy Veteran and both my wifes retirement & mine do not increase and social security sure don't increase that much. See attached for entire P.C. |
P202200138 | 9/21/2021 3:06 PM | (JB) "People have been suffering horribly with COVID and other afflictions and money is tight. Ameren refuses to put lines underground to stop damaged wires due to costs. I don't think they should be rewarded for their incompetence. It seems they are wasting tremendous amount of money on tree trimming." |
P202200139 | 9/22/2021 9:52 AM | (JB) "I am on a very limited income and an increase like this would really be something. I am opposing this increase." |
P202200140 | 9/22/2021 10:14 AM | I submit that AMEREN has failed to inform customers as to the cost of the requested rate hike---the notice addresses a "typical bill"---but does not define "typical bill" in terms of usage or cost. Second, the para on the FAC, seems like a switch and bait to to me--- I want an increase so I can recalculate how much "net" is on an additional line? Seems both hokey and unreasonable--Fixed income people will suffer greatly |
P202200141 | 9/22/2021 10:39 AM | Case No. ER-2021-0240 --- Responding to the AMEREN MISSOURI LOCAL PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE RE: the likely increase of my bill by 11.97%. NOT in favor of this. This increase will be harmful during this present pandemic economy, especially to us "seniors" who are already trying to conserve in many ways. Please reconsider other options. |
P202200142 | 9/22/2021 11:23 AM | (JB) "My mother (Wilma Distler) and I are both retired and on fixed incomes and we cannot afford an increase of $144/year. I don't want any money of this increase going towards someone who doesn't pay their bills." |
P202200143 | 9/22/2021 1:48 PM | See attached |
P202200144 | 9/22/2021 2:27 PM | It was a little shocking to see rates could possibly go up by almost 12% - more than double the CoL increase slated for this year. I can understand some upgrades to keep service as efficient as possible - but to have the public pay for the Smart Energy incentives, smart meters, thermostats, etc. shouldn't be on our shoulders unless we want it. That is Ameren's decision - not a request by customers. In a time where there is economic uncertainty for the country, please limit Ameren's increase. |
P202200145 | 9/23/2021 7:32 AM | (DF)hello! The literature I received in your mailing stated that the proposed rate hike would average $11.78 per bill. I am a single income household and am approaching retirement age in a few years. AN $11.78 INCREASE WOULD BE AN ADDITIONAL 25% OVER MY MOST RECENT BILL. This is unacceptable and unreasonable. See attached for entire P.C. |
P202200146 | 9/23/2021 10:03 AM | Opposing the Ameren 11% increase. Very inefficient labor and management wise. There are too many people just standing around. |
P202200147 | 9/23/2021 10:08 AM | hello! The literature I received in your mailing stated that the proposed rate hike would average $11.78 per bill. See attached for full public comment. (opc-th) |
P202200148 | 9/23/2021 10:30 AM | See Attached |
P202200149 | 9/23/2021 1:39 PM | The 11.97% increase of an average $11.78 would be for an average bill of $98. After some research no one is close to that. The average bills are more around $225 to $300 and some are up around $400. This would be more like an increase of $36-$70 a month. It's all a complete lie...complete malarkey! |
P202200150 | 9/23/2021 1:45 PM | I am not for the utility rate increase. I have attached the spreadsheet that I have been tracking the ulitity rates for quite some time. If the data is not in the fields such as elec cat charge it is because that data or category was not created until a later time. I have seen the ele cat grh go from 9.04 to 9.06 per bill. The fule surcharge rate was not introduced until 2013, The purchase gas adjustment had been introduced and used starting in 8 of 2019. There is more. I vote NO. |
P202200152 | 9/24/2021 8:55 AM | to the ongoing and never ending proposals by ameren for rate increases i say no to the current rate increase that they are now proposing in october 2021. in the middle of a pandemic where half of the state has lost a lot of income these lowlifes want to raise our rates once again. shame on you if you let them have this increase. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, don't any of you ever understand that? |
P202200153 | 9/24/2021 10:36 AM | See Attached |
P202200154 | 9/25/2021 4:22 PM | I hope the 11.97% rate increase is not approved. That is ridiculous. I'm disabled & SS cost of living increase isn't even going to be half of what Ameren is wanting. This is a terrible time to be asking for more money from consumers. |
P202200156 | 9/25/2021 10:16 PM | ER-2021-0240 or GR-2021-0241 concerns regarding Ameren’s proposal of 12% rate increase are as follows:ameren UE already has a monopoly on our electric in Cape continuously raise our rates & we must pay. My bill has increased dramatically in the last two years. When will it stop?? I have elderly neighbors on fixed incomes that this increase if passed will greatly affect them. It isn’t fair! Either allow another electric co operate in our area so we have legitimate competition or deny any increase |
P202200157 | 9/26/2021 11:55 AM | Please don't allow Ameren utility company an increase so large. Senior Citizens are already taking a hit with the costs of living not keeping up with their income. It will also affect those with low incomes who are not senior citizens. Every time a cost of increase is given services increase above and beyond the income increase. If we had a choice it would be different. Unfortunately we don't have a choice. Again, please don't allow the increase to be this big. Thank you. |
P202200158 | 9/27/2021 10:04 AM | See Attached |
P202200160 | 9/27/2021 1:05 PM | Increasing base rates appears to be a way for Ameren Missouri NOT to pass savings along to their customers, and I hope the PSC will carefully consider this possibility. Furthermore, I thought companies like to have faster depreciation of their assets, which is what appears to be happening with the retirement of coal plants. Thus, I don't understand why this reset of depreciation should increase rates for customers if it is decreasing the amount of taxes Ameren Missouri will pay. |
P202200161 | 9/27/2021 1:14 PM | I hope the PSC will look carefully at any increase in what are termed, and unspecified, as "other costs" in paragraph 3 of the Local Public Hearing Notice - especially because there is "a proposed overall decrease in net based energy costs" that is "largely offset by net increases in other costs." Exactly what are these "other" and unspecified energy costs that are driving the almost 12% increase in the base rate and should these "other costs" be borne by customers rather than investors? |
P202200162 | 9/28/2021 8:41 AM | (DF)In regard to high prairie wind farm owned by ameron electric proposal to the PCS for rate increases it appears they will continue mislead the PCS for there profit and benefit. See attached for entire P.C. |
P202200164 | 9/28/2021 10:38 AM | See attached for public comment - opc th |
P202200166 | 9/28/2021 12:28 PM | (JB) "My name is Charles Williams and my wife is Nancy. We are against Ameren's rate increase proposal." |
P202200168 | 9/29/2021 11:42 AM | I have not been able to find the "make-up" of the proposed 11.97% increase. Do NOT increase the "Customer Charge" from its current $9.06 (plus tax) per month. If increased, my increase would be much greater than the proposed approx. 12% AND this method of increase is a dis-insentive to energy conservation. |
P202200169 | 9/29/2021 11:55 AM | Update to previous comment - I strongly OPPOSE increasing the "customer charge" rate from $9.00 (plus tax) to $11.00 (plus tax) per month. Just this charge in and of itself will increase my cost over 22% for 6-8 months of the year which is far above the supposed increase of 11.97%. This method of increase places no incentive on conserving energy. |
P202200170 | 9/29/2021 2:05 PM | Case Reference: ER-2021-0240 I am opposed to this rate hike in the strongest terms. |
P202200171 | 9/30/2021 10:33 AM | See Attached |
P202200173 | 10/1/2021 8:48 AM | (JE) Kathy is elderly and on fixed income. She does not want any increase approved at all and believes no increase should be approved during a pandemic. |
P202200174 | 10/1/2021 8:57 AM | Ameren |
P202200175 | 10/1/2021 11:43 AM | (DF)As a 77 year old retired person on a fixed income, I can afford my bills now by careful cash management. With this proposed increase and the new property tax rate increase, next year will be a serious struggle. Please consider my comments during the hearings. See attached for entire P.C. |
P202200176 | 10/1/2021 2:46 PM | (JB) "I think $12 is a bit high of an increase. I don't get why the company doesn't take out a 0% interest loan to cover whatever costs needed instead of tacking it onto the customers. I live on SSI & retirement & this increase would be an extra $150/year which is a big bite of change for me." |
P202200177 | 10/4/2021 8:04 AM | (DF)I do not believe in this hearing for raising 11.97%. I believe homes who want solar power should be accepts not rate increase See attached P.C. |
P202200178 | 10/4/2021 8:33 AM | (DF)No I think it would be a good idea since you allow utility companies the price gouge customers buy increasing utility kilowatt hour premiums by 33% in summertime I think we as a people should put on the ballot to require those same utility companies to cut the use of fossil fuels by 50% in the next two years since it's okay Douglas on prices in the summer we can demand that you all go green within 2 years by 50% |
P202200179 | 10/4/2021 9:25 AM | (DF)As a senior citizen on a fixed income, Ms. Jacoby is against Ameren's proposed rate increase, unless Ameren can provide accommodations for those who are on limited incomes. |
P202200180 | 10/4/2021 10:19 AM | See Attached |
P202200181 | 10/4/2021 11:17 AM | Hello, I am a retired St. Louis Public School teacher on a fixed income. I am also windowed, so, the managing and maintaining of my household is all on me! Every dollar counts for me & I can not afford any additional increases on any of my bills. I am AGAINST Ameren's proposed rate increase as it will negatively impact me and other retirees like me. Thank you |
P202200182 | 10/4/2021 12:07 PM | (JB) "I don't think they need this increase. It's ridiculous. They spend $50-60,000 on a suite at the Tiger football Stadium and they are making record profits. They don't need this increase." |
P202200184 | 10/4/2021 5:57 PM | Now is not the time to raise rates on Ameren customers. The economy is still coming out of Covid. There are still a lot of unemployed people. They do not need this added burden. |
P202200185 | 10/5/2021 7:19 AM | (DF)An 11.97% increase is way to much to put on customers shoulders, Ameren obtained Subsidy monies that should be enough. See attached for entire P.C. |
P202200186 | 10/5/2021 8:05 AM | (DF)Ameren wanting another rate hike is ridiculous. Citizens are struggling to pay bills already. Ameren needs to make shifts on their end to cover this cost, not put the cost on us. Someone needs to stop them. |
P202200187 | 10/5/2021 8:31 AM | (DF) I oppose the proposal of rate increases. Even though my usage went down I was still charged the summer month rates in June 2021-Present . Adding an 11% increase plus 12% increase for summer months will prove to be detrimental to all consumers as it would be a 22% hike. |
P202200188 | 10/5/2021 8:50 AM | I am writing to oppose the proposed Ameren rate increase. While investing in renewable energy is an honorable cause, this is not the right time to increase rates. Working families are still struggling to gain stability from the negative effects of this pandemic. Increasing rates will cause an undue burden on families and those with low-incomes and fixed incomes. |
P202200189 | 10/5/2021 10:56 AM | (DF)As a resident of Adair County, I feel that Ameren's rate increases are unwarranted. We have too many wind turbines n the area. Most of them aren't even functioning most days. They lied to the public to get them here. The "GREEN" practices of Ameren are doing nothing but costing us more money. I'm sure they would love the increase, but they get increase after increase with no benefit to the public. At a time where EVERYTHING costs more, Ameren is asking for TOO MUCH! AGAIN! See attached. |
P202200190 | 10/5/2021 11:04 AM | (DF)Mr. and Mrs. Robinson are against Ameren's proposed rate increase. They are also against Ameren adding more wind turbines to their system. |
P202200191 | 10/5/2021 11:49 AM | (DF)I am writing to you in regards to the rate increase that Ameren proposes. It is totally a CRIME to put this on the public! Ameren and all enities knew about the endangered Indiana Bats years ago, so Ameren should shoulder the cost! A wind project tried to come in 2014 and prior to that as well and the project was cancelled. See attached for entire P.C. |
P202200192 | 10/5/2021 12:39 PM | I am opposed to the rate increase request from Ameren. The utility company must put people first. In the midst of a pandemic and the resulting economic crisis it has caused, Ameren’s residential customers—families, seniors, medically vulnerable individuals, and regular citizens trying to survive—cannot afford to pay higher utility bills. The rate hike would have a negative impact on our communities. I encourage the Public Service Commission to deny the rate increase. |
P202200193 | 10/5/2021 12:46 PM | I am opposed to the rate increase request from Ameren. The utility company must put people first. In the midst of a pandemic and the resulting economic crisis it has caused, Ameren’s residential customers—families, seniors, medically vulnerable individuals, and regular citizens trying to survive—cannot afford to pay higher utility bills. The rate hike would have a negative impact on our communities, particularly those with low incomes. I encourage the PSC to deny the rate increase. |
P202200194 | 10/5/2021 1:00 PM | I am opposed to the rate increase request from Ameren. The utility company must put people first. In the midst of a pandemic and the resulting economic crisis it has caused, Ameren’s residential customers—families, seniors, medically vulnerable individuals, citizens trying to survive—cannot afford to pay higher utility bills. The rate hike would have a negative impact on our communities, particularly those with low incomes. I encourage the Public Service Commission to deny the rate increase. |
P202200195 | 10/5/2021 1:02 PM | (DF)Ameren Missouri is proposing an increase in service revenue. The request would increase residential bills about 11.97%. This cannot be real! As a senior citizen on Social Security and a small pension this would be terrible! Social Security may (?) get a 6% increase next year. My pension is a fixed amount - never increases! See attached for entire P.C. |
P202200196 | 10/5/2021 1:49 PM | (DF) Ameren Missouri is actively promoting their so-called “Smart Energy Plan” that in reality is the 2018 legislation (SB 564) passed by both Houses and signed by the Governor that includes language involving smart technology and metering. See attached for entire, very detailed Public Comment. |
P202200198 | 10/5/2021 2:04 PM | (DF)The nerve of you to put that's rate increase on us in the middle of a pandemic,? You must be obtuse, typical big private worker and the government. Global warming is a farce! The dishonest people at the utilities department. You should suffer just like the rest of us. See attached. |
P202200199 | 10/5/2021 2:49 PM | See Attached |
P202200200 | 10/5/2021 3:44 PM | (DF) It is insulting to see Ameren asking to increase their rates almost 12 percent, and requesting an open check for "FAC" when they have a history of failing to maintain power lines by keeping the trees cut back. See attached for entire P.C. |
P202200201 | 10/6/2021 7:57 AM | Our street lights have been out for weeks (perhaps months). Let's get the power on before we talk about an increase, and before the car jackers catch on to the fact that Ameren isn't keeping up with the street light situation. 12% is too much, inflation typically runs 2-3%. Ameren staff are already well compensated, its leader, Warner Baxter pulls in $10 Million per year. Ameren's median pay is $142,604. Every increase in utility cost makes our city less competitive. |
P202200202 | 10/6/2021 8:15 AM | As a senior citizen on Social Security and already suffering from the County’s substantial property tax hike, I may be forced out of my home if service companies are allowed exorbitant rate increases. Two or three percent would be adequate but 12% is greedy and well beyond my means. Shall I be forced to turn off my heat this winter or AC during the hot as hell summers? |
P202200203 | 10/6/2021 8:27 AM | 50k homes went without power for 15+hrs and some multiple days just this summer because of a storm. They refuse to fix their power lines/poles/don't bury their lines. I can't image the amount of poles that are completely rotted and haven't had any attention done to them in YEARS. A multi billion dollar corporation and when the power was out they didn't even me a reason, didn't give me an ETA.. but they want more money from me? Even made Channel 4 news talking about this issue. |
P202200204 | 10/6/2021 8:39 AM | A 12% rate increase as suggested would put undue hardship on me and other members of my community. With the pandemic, the rural communities are still struggling and now is not a great time to ask for such a large increase. |
P202200206 | 10/6/2021 9:00 AM | 12% hike on electric utility is insane. My electric bill these last four months of summer in a 900 SQ foot house have been $300 + each month. NO INCREASE, this will already make a dwindling city of STL even less competitive. |
P202200207 | 10/6/2021 9:01 AM | File No. ER-2021-0240 1. 12% is too much, inflation typically runs 2-3% 2. Ameren staff are already well compensated, its leader, Warner Baxter pulls in $10 Million per year. Ameren's median pay is $142,604 3. Every increase in utility cost makes our city less competitive |
P202200208 | 10/6/2021 9:03 AM | 12% is overreach for a company that spends much of its revenue on executive compensation. A 12% increase in a basic cost like a utility makes the metro region less attractive to the exact kind of industries and markets that the area desperately needs. Please reject this request. |
P202200209 | 10/6/2021 9:08 AM | Hello, please do not raise Amren rates 12%. That is an insane amount of increase at one time. If you do have to raise raise them over a period of years. To go from 100 to 112 in one fell swoop will hurt a lot of citizens. Times are tough as is, the job market is thin, and funds for citizens are low. Do not increase rates overnight. |
P202200210 | 10/6/2021 9:10 AM | Dana is opposed to the rate increase. She wants to know how Ameren & the Commission think the working class people on a fixed income can afford a $12 monthly increase when they don't get a raise in their social security, retirement check and didn't receive any COVID checks? Said if they have to get an increase it should not be this much. |
P202200211 | 10/6/2021 9:17 AM | Ameren failed to handle moderate storms this summer with the current rates. Additionally, its CEO is making over $10 million a year according to STL Today (https://www.stltoday.com/business/columns/david-nicklaus/ameren-ceos-pay-rises-3-tops-10-million/article_c835ca51-c205-514c-bb09-1af600adc32b.html#). My home and my neighbor's homes were without electricity for several days, costing us hundreds of dollars due to food spoilages. Ameren should not be allowed to increase costs. |
P202200212 | 10/6/2021 9:43 AM | Ameren CANNOT raise rates again. They just got a bump and the company is NOT struggling judging by the salaries given. 12 a month is not only clearly dismissive, but also misleading to the consumer. Anyone with over. 100$ bill (which are frequent in old city houses) will see a much higher hike. Ameren is trying to use its FORCED consumers to subside its move to more recent tech but entirely fails to give that back to the consumer in anyway. I'm not going pay for a company to gain more profit |
P202200213 | 10/6/2021 9:45 AM | In regards to ER-2021-0214… Ameren has millions of dollars in profits and a CEO making 10 million a year, plus other top dogs making more money in a year than most people make in 50. The infrastructure of Ameren is crumbling and power outages are extremely common during storms (especially this past year) and I don’t see any millionaires taking pay cuts to make the needs of Missourians met. The increase is insulting and unnecessary. Take it from the people who can spare it, not from the citizens |
P202200214 | 10/6/2021 9:55 AM | Ameren should not be able to increase utilities by 12%. Inflation is typically 2-3%. That rate hike is ridiculous. My power went out for several days at a time last year. Paying them substantially more is not fair. I'm not even happy with our current service. They don't upgrade the system enough to justify this rate hike. It also makes our city less competitive. They should cut costs from their higher ups salaries and give less bonuses to executives. |
P202200215 | 10/6/2021 9:56 AM | In regards to the proposed Ameren rate increase of %12. I do not see any reason such a large increase should be approved when their profits are already so high, as well as CEO pay along with other salaries, while Ameren has not kept up with maintenance, i.e. trimming trees along power lines, street lights, quality of service, etc. In a time of such wealth inequality, economic uncertainty and natural disasters, such cost's should not be passed to consumers when corporations receive large breaks. |
P202200216 | 10/6/2021 10:10 AM | Regarding File No. ER-2021-0240 - Ameren should not be allowed to increase costs to the consumers at such a high rate. Their CEO makes more than $10 million in salary per year, they can deduct the extra costs from his salary. This summer, hundreds of customers went without power for days due to thunderstorms (myself included). Ameren cannot provide reasons or ETA of restored power. Many street lights throughout the city are not lit or poorly lit, they should focus on those issues first. |
P202200217 | 10/6/2021 10:30 AM | Given the recent increases in fuel prices I support this rate increase. Given that coal represents 50% of the energy generation and natural gas is 25% of the energy generation. I fully encourage Ameren to take this rate increase and consider adding more nuclear baseload power, along with renewables + storage to shift away from fossil fuels more aggressively than their 2050 goals that retain natural gas in the portfolio |
P202200218 | 10/6/2021 10:31 AM | Ameren should absolutely not be allowed to pass on more costs to consumers and prioritize only large accounts. This is part of the reason why Texas was such a mess when that blizzard hit. Ameren is way too greedy and wants to take advantage of their consumers after some really tough years on everyone. When will their freed end? |
P202200219 | 10/6/2021 10:31 AM | If utilities cannot serve the people affordably under normal conditions then they ought to be nationalized, and if nationalized should begin the process of decarbonization of the grid immediately |
P202200220 | 10/6/2021 10:42 AM | I am against the utility increase that Ameren is proposing this year. This increase is not only a hefty amount, but we have seen rolling brown outs in our area all summer (south county STL area).. If Ameren wants to raise our bills, they should be working on fixing our issues first. |
P202200221 | 10/6/2021 10:47 AM | I am disgusted by the very idea to increase customer rates during these times. My family is having a hard enough time trying to get by due to the pandemic. With the loss of one income already I am doing everything I can to make my electric bill on time each month. What a horrible thing to do to your customers. |
P202200223 | 10/6/2021 11:03 AM | As it is, with everything going on, it is already hard enough to pay the bills, especially without rates increasing even more. It seems like everytime I turn around, they're asking for more and more, well above inflation. It isn't as if Ameren is not being extremely profitable right now either. |
P202200224 | 10/6/2021 11:12 AM | I oppose Ameren's proposed rate increase. Ameren has failed to effectively invest in it's infrastructure while simultaneously increasing dividends, and profit margins. |
P202200225 | 10/6/2021 11:29 AM | I am NOT in favor of the Ameren rate hike. If you want to pay for improvements, take it out of executive bonuses first. Not my paycheck. |
P202200226 | 10/6/2021 11:43 AM | I am opposed to the proposed Ameren rate increase. This would only serve to hurt consumers, particularly residential customers and those from poor neighborhoods. Ameren's staff is well compensated, and if they are hurting from increased costs, they should consider trimming pay, given their CEO was recently awarded increased compensation totaling over $10 million. I don't see how this increase would improve service and seems like a ploy to line the pockets of those who are already well off. |
P202200227 | 10/6/2021 12:08 PM | Regarding File No. ER-2021-0240. This rate increase is unacceptable. Ameren service quality is poor, it takes an unreasoanble amount of time for resolution of power outages and there is poor communication of the status with customers. We do not even have adequate street light coverage and until Ameren can prove a more reliable service with proper maintenance of its grid so it doesn't go down for hours/days at a time from mild storms, they do not deserve any more money from our community. |
P202200228 | 10/6/2021 12:16 PM | I would like to oppose the large price increase proposed by Ameren. They need to start working harder to maintain the current gird before they request more money. |
P202200229 | 10/6/2021 12:33 PM | Good afternoon. The proposed Ameren rate increase is unrealistic- especially to us senior citizens. My income (Social Security, etc.) is certainly NOT increasing 12% annually. With inflation on the rise and daily cost of living on the increase, this IS NOT the time for an increase in utility bills. Spire is, as well, warning about their rates going up. Please consider us during the hearings on the Ameren proposal. Now is not the time to put additional burdens on the senior population. Thank you, |
P202200230 | 10/6/2021 12:43 PM | I am categorically against this rate increase. Ameren's greed and mismanagement are a product of bailouts such as this. Provide a tangible quality of life improvement for residents and then maybe we can revisit the topic. Otherwise, go beg for money from your corporate accounts. |
P202200231 | 10/6/2021 12:51 PM | In reference to File No. ER-2021-0240, I believe the rate increase would be a step back in the adoption of electric cars. Although I appreciate Ameren's efforts to install a small charging infrastructure, this rate increase will work against those efforts. Ameren stands to make more money in the long term by lowering rates now, thereby encouraging customers to buy electric cars and use more electricity in the long term. |
P202200232 | 10/6/2021 12:57 PM | Ameren should not be allowed to raise electricity 12%. That is NOT the rate of inflation and would be greedy to do so. |
P202200233 | 10/6/2021 1:07 PM | 12% is a ludicrous increase. You're out of your mind. Employees and the CEO already make a lot of money. |
P202200234 | 10/6/2021 1:35 PM | It is already high and people can't afford it. |
P202200235 | 10/6/2021 1:49 PM | Ameren 12 percent rate increase proposition Hard No for me, Ameren made over $800 million profit last year, that does not justify a 12 percent rate increase, 3 percent for inflation maybe. |
P202200236 | 10/6/2021 2:01 PM | Ameren wants to raise rates but they made large profits last year, even though the cost of fuel increased. Something seems wrong here. No to a rate hike unless fully justified. |
P202200237 | 10/6/2021 2:23 PM | I am strongly against Ameren's proposition to increase rates. Since I am unable to attend the hearing, I am posting my opinion on here. |
P202200238 | 10/6/2021 2:46 PM | I am completely against this motion because a company that is sole provider for electricity in the area should not have the right to raise our rates without a vote or hearing in the future, we do not have the ability to go to another company for competitive rates! Further more “Ratepayers should not be responsible for any costs related to Ameren’s poor managerial decisions in electing to site its wind farm where it did.” said Geoff Marke. |
P202200239 | 10/6/2021 3:10 PM | I am opposed to this rate increase. It is an excessive increase and Ameren has not been doing a good job of eliminating power outages. In particular, our street lights are frequently out of order for weeks or months at a time. |
P202200240 | 10/6/2021 3:17 PM | The proposed rate hike is unfair and unwarranted! I will be a huge burden to families who are still recovering from Covid unemployment. I vote NO. |
P202200241 | 10/6/2021 3:46 PM | More information is needed as to why Ameren is raising its rates by 12%. Is this for repairs, equipment, expansion, or profits? I do not believe it is reasonable for any kind of increase when it is not known what the money will be used for. The CEO of Ameren makes $10,000,000 a year. Take the money from his paycheck and stock options before charging the average consumer who can't shop around for a less expensive option. |
P202200242 | 10/6/2021 4:14 PM | I already pay too much for electric. And I only got a 3% raise this year at work. How are they justifying this increase when half of my alley lights are non-functional? Instead of raising rates, they should lower the salary of the CEO. No one "works" enough to earn $10,000,000 per year. This is absurd that the burden is placed on consumers when the CEO pay is that ridiculous. |
P202200244 | 10/6/2021 4:32 PM | I do not feel there should be a rate increase. |
P202200245 | 10/6/2021 4:32 PM | Please see the attached File with public comments from William A. Wallace, Executive Director of Missouri Veterans Endeavor |
P202200246 | 10/6/2021 4:51 PM | Ameren should focus on actually improving the infrastructure services they provide before considering increasing prices |
P202200247 | 10/6/2021 4:55 PM | ameren's rate increase is irresponsible especially as they have failed to improve the infrastructure they provide. They should improve the wiring they use and/or bury it prior to considering any rate increase. |
P202200248 | 10/6/2021 5:10 PM | I am sharing comments in opposition to Ameren's rate increase on behalf of tenants in the Tower Grove neighborhoods of St. Louis City. Our agency has been working collaboratively with numerous organizations to meet the crisis in energy affordability and to offer protection for customers at this crucial time. We encourage Ameren Missouri to work with us to address these concerns. Attached are comments. |
P202200249 | 10/6/2021 5:19 PM | I am strongly opposed to the proposal to increase rates for electricity by 12%, File No. ER-2021-0240. It is unnecessary and an undue burden on the private citizens. It's a blatent attempt to gouge the public and will create barriers to entry for new residents/business to come to Missouri. |
P202200250 | 10/6/2021 5:28 PM | It is greedy and evil for Ameren to propose a rate increase in the face of a global pandemic and $200 million in profit gains the last two quarters. To make matters worse, the company disconnected 25,980 customers for late payment while another 209,878 customers are currently behind on their bills, all while COIVD is still terribly impacting our communities. Stop profiting off of climate change and start investing in communities, Missouri. |
P202200251 | 10/6/2021 5:29 PM | A 12% increase is absolutely criminal when the CEO makes 10 million a year, and they can’t even get power up and running after a storm for 12+ hours, even days depending on where you live. According to STLToday “Ameren calculated median pay of $142,604 for its 9,400-person workforce.” A 12% increase would be going straight into the pocket of the CEO, someone already making too much money. The city will not be a competitive living option for the public because utility rates are climbing. |
P202200252 | 10/6/2021 5:51 PM | 12% is too much, inflation typically runs 2-3% |
P202200253 | 10/6/2021 6:03 PM | No rate increases! If things are that bad lower your c-level salaries and invest in renewables, or stop trying to profit off of a UTILITY. People need this service and making it less and less accessible is just asking for riots! |
P202200254 | 10/6/2021 7:24 PM | I'm writing to express concern about the proposed rate increase and ability to charge residential consumers for unexpected costs without the oversight of this governing body. Necessary utilities should not be subjected to the profit-driven practices of for-profit institutions. |
P202200255 | 10/6/2021 7:25 PM | Ameren has not properly kept up with the constant outages in my neighborhood. Their customer service has been terrible. Another 12% for what? Are they going to pay me back for the generator I had to buy because they leave my power out for literally days at a time? Insane. |
P202200256 | 10/6/2021 8:39 PM | I am concerned with the potential 12% rate increase Ameren is proposing. Their CEO is paid millions of dollars a year. Any increase in cost for the average person will just make it harder for them to put food on the table while making this man even more wealthy. |
P202200257 | 10/6/2021 9:00 PM | This rate increase is unnecessary and going to increase rates that are already to high in order to compensate their ceo and higher up executives. If Ameren needs more money maybe they can find it in their CEOs salary and stop passing on every little fee to the average consumer and stop bleeding your client base dry. What ever happened to wanting to break up monopolies as we as the consumer have no option of power company. |
P202200258 | 10/6/2021 9:36 PM | Hey Ameren, how about instead of a significant rate increase you cut the leadership's multimillion dollar salaries? |
P202200259 | 10/6/2021 10:10 PM | I do not agree with an increase in utility rate. The proposed increase is way too much and they should consider a cost cutting measure instead. |
P202200260 | 10/7/2021 2:06 AM | I have concerns about the 12% proposed increase in Ameren’s electric utility rates. Typically, rates increase only 2-3%: 12% is excessive. Considering the rate increases over the past year, these increases need to be staggered out, and justified via technical and economic documentation, given to the public beforehand. |
P202200261 | 10/7/2021 8:36 AM | This increase is going to hurt people and cause more late and/or non-payments. It's already costs way too much to live in poverty and this increase is another way to ensure they cycle of poverty continues. Especially because there is still a pandemic happening. There are many other issues that need to be resolved first, and the money is there to successfully complete them in a timely manner. Ameren needs to stop going after the people at the bottom. |
P202200262 | 10/7/2021 9:12 AM | I am opposed to this rate increase, I have a very old home and Ameren cites a $12 increase, but as my home is old and poorly insulated it could be double or even triple that. This year I raised my thermostat by 4 whole degrees as my electricity cost doubled from last year, and I installed a smart theromstat, but that could be dependent on the environment and outdoor heat. |
P202200263 | 10/7/2021 10:49 AM | My bill is, on average, $200-$400 per month. Maybe, instead of raising customer rates who have no alternatives for a public utility, they should cut the millions in executive pay to subsidize the smart thermometers that they’ll to save themselves money? Shame on Ameren. |
P202200264 | 10/7/2021 11:10 AM | (DF)a nearly 12% hike in utility bills? regardless of the reasons and intent its hard to believe that our all ready sky high utility bills are going to increase again. I haven't lived in this area for long but shocked by the expense of heating and cooling-would locals tolerate this kind of increase for anything else? See attached for entire P.C. |

P202200267 | 10/7/2021 1:33 PM | (DF)I want to comment regarding the proposed increase of Ameren rates & the Fuel charges. I belive they raised the rates in 2013. I do not see any reason why Ameren should need to raise the rates. Everytime they ask, you, PC grant them the permission. See attached for entire P.C. |
P202200268 | 10/7/2021 1:35 PM | Please see the attached document. Mary Factor |
P202200269 | 10/7/2021 2:10 PM | (co) Customer called about the charges on her bill. Why should she have to pay for the the EEIC and Customer Charge? How are they benefitting her? |
P202200270 | 10/7/2021 4:13 PM | (tb) Glenda is opposed to rate increase, due to the fact that that they had to take a pay decrease due to pandemic (as did others) and can't afford an increase in the rates. |
P202200271 | 10/7/2021 4:34 PM | Ameren does not need a 12% hike, that is way too high. The CEO is making too much, stop putting this on the backs of the people. Mr. Baxter needs to take a pay cut, before they pass this silly hike on to the working class. |
P202200272 | 10/7/2021 5:07 PM | People are struggling. Everything is rising in price. Please do not increase prices on this commodity that is necessary for survival! |
P202200274 | 10/8/2021 5:49 AM | Do not increase our rates. This is a terrible idea after such difficult economic times for the consumer. I do not support File No. ER-2021-0240 |
P202200275 | 10/8/2021 10:30 AM | See Attached |
P202200276 | 10/8/2021 11:00 AM | My Ameren service has been worse this year than in recent memory. I'm talking multi day power outages on the same wire. I'm not into paying more when they can't deliver basic service consistently. Not to mention that we're in the midst of a global pandemic that has made it hard for normal families to make ends meet. Perhaps Ameren should just be happy with their $900M in profit and let the working class just try to get by. |
P202200277 | 10/8/2021 11:30 AM | (tb) Carol is opposed to rate increase, she is on a fixed income & can't afford the increase |
P202200278 | 10/8/2021 7:55 PM | Please don’t increase our electricity bills. With the pandemic, everyone is struggling to make ends meet.I am a senior citizen living on Social Security and it will not increase monthly to cover this added expense. Electricity is a necessity. Ameren has and is making huge profits every year since I was born in 1952. I try to use as little electricity as possible to keep my bills down. This is pure greed on Ameren’s part. |
P202200279 | 10/9/2021 5:29 AM | I oppose this proposed rate increase. As a senior citizen I am being priced out of my home by taxes, medical insurance and utility rates, not to mention food inflation. A few years ago they were permitted to charge customer between $9 and $10 per month to read meters. They have 2.4 million customers and have remote read meters. Cash cow. Why are they permitted to pass on all costs of doing business rather than absorbing some themselves. Enough is enough, turn them down!! |
P202200280 | 10/11/2021 12:36 PM | I remotely attended last weeks public internet broadcast but due the length of the sessions was unable to voice my comments. I will take this opportunity to submit my comment against the proposed 11.97% base rate increase. See attached |
P202200281 | 10/11/2021 1:28 PM | Absolutely No !!! I have received no better service since the last increase. I am still on a Delta lead and have outages and low power more than need be. Why should I have to help pay for a poor unrealiable power source. Current wind ideas will not be the future!! You are appointed to look out for the people. |
P202200282 | 10/12/2021 8:01 AM | (DF)Please do not increase our electricity bills. This is a necessity for all. During this pandemic so much has gone up in prices and people are having difficulty making end meet. I am a senior citizen living on Social Security and try to keep my electricity bills as low as possible, but my monthly check will not increase in order to cover this added expense. Ameren has and is doing very well financially and making huge profits since I was born 69 years ago. See attached for entire P.C. |
P202200283 | 10/12/2021 8:11 AM | (DF)Firstly, I find this a particularly interesting time for Ameren to request such an outlandish rate increase since the amount of electricity used by their commercial & industrial users had to had been drastically reduced in 2020 due to the pandemic shutdowns of commercial & industrial facilities. That make one question if this is an effort to regain the losses they realized in 2020 so stockholders can see a dividend after a shortfall. See attached for entire P.C. |

P202200286 | 10/13/2021 2:38 PM | (co) Customer called stating he's not against the raise. He's against getting what Ameren wants because of the fact so many seniors now are on Social Security and Medicaid. They need to be represented. |
P202200287 | 10/13/2021 2:43 PM | These comments concern the proposal by Ameren Missouri to the PSC to increase their electric rates by 11.97 %. See attached file. |
P202200289 | 10/13/2021 2:56 PM | Mr. Dean objects to any increase in electricity rates for Ameren Missouri. He says objects to the way the utility is "spending our money." In particular, he's opposed to wind farms and other expenditures for renewable energy, which he says is inefficient, unreliable and expensive. |
P202200290 | 10/13/2021 2:57 PM | Ms. Smith objects to any increase in electricity rates for Ameren Missouri. He says objects to the way the utility is "spending our money." P202200297 | 10/14/2021 2:05 PM | (DF)Inflation has certainly cripled the buying power of people on a fixed income. Your rate increase request only adds fuel to the fire. Your timing is very untimely. |
P202200299 | 10/15/2021 9:29 AM | (DF)On behalf of seniors, low-income families and the unemployed, I request that the PSC DENY Ameren the 12% increase requested, or at least severely reduce the rate increase. See attached for entire P.C. |

Now you want an 11 case no ER-2021-0240 My current bill is over $15 in taxes and additional charges. Now you want an !!%* increase. Outrageous people on fixed incomes have a hard enough time now paying bills and COL continues to go up. Maybe in shareholders don't need to much. 5* |
P202200304 | 10/18/2021 9:36 AM | I am opposed to any rate increases because it creates a financial burden on people.thanks Jack Evans Everton Mo |
P202200305 | 10/18/2021 3:45 PM | (DF)I am opposed to this rate increase. Way too much! As a senior on a fixed income, a smaller rate increase would be easier to absorb. I do appreciate the excellent service Ameren provides. Thank you. |
P202200306 | 10/18/2021 3:51 PM | (DF)Ms. Sontheiner is against Ameren's proposed rate increase. She believes Ameren raising their rates will hurt the elderly, and low income families. She thinks an Ameren rate increase will be unfair to all. |
P202200307 | 10/18/2021 4:24 PM | (co) Customer called stating she is opposed to the price increase. They've had too many already. Has gas heat. Gotten last 6 increases. Electric bill is almost as high as heating bill. It shouldn't be. People can't afford this anymore. |

P202200309 | 10/19/2021 1:20 PM | (DF)Mr. Booker is against Ameren's proposed rate increase. He believes at the rate these increases keep occurring, the utility companies will have all of the money and own everything along with the government. He is on Social Security with very limited funds available. He states that the little raise he will receive on his S.S. check will be eliminated by an Ameren rate increase. |
P202200310 | 10/21/2021 1:03 PM | (JE) Curt could not participate in the Ameren local public hearings but wants to file a public comment. P202200317 | 10/21/2021 4:19 PM | (DF)Mr. Cain is against Ameren's proposed rate increase. He believes an 11.97% increase to be excessive considering the times we're in. He is retired, on a fixed income and cannot afford an increase at this time. He also does not believe Ameren's green energy plan will meet consumer's demand. |
P202200318 | 10/22/2021 7:40 AM | (DF)I write to you today to object to Ameren Missouri's proposed rate increase to cover the costs to add two wind production facilities and to write off the depreciation for an earlier shutdown of the Sioux and Rush Island coal generation facilities. See attached for entire P.C. |
P202200319 | 10/22/2021 10:32 AM | (DF)While I acknowledge the possible need to raise rates by Ameren, my objection is the amount that they are asking. It's going to put a lot of undue stress on lower and middle income families that are already struggling just to survive. Especially with COVID and unemployment taking such a toll on the people of Missouri as well as our economy. They are asking for too much. Just my two cents. |

P202200325 | 10/26/2021 8:41 AM | (DF)I am writing to complain about Ameren and their mandate to all employees to be vaccinated for COVID by 12/8/2021. I also see that they are contributing to a lot of “woke” organizations with the money we pay them as far as utility bill. If a private business chooses to do that, for the most part, I can go get the product or service I want from another company. I do not have that ability with a public utility. OF COURSE, THEY NEVER DO EXPECT TO GET THE "WHOLE THING". IT IS ALL PART OF THE "GAME" THEY PLAY WITH YOU (OUR) REGULATORS. See attached for entire P.C. |
P202200358 | 11/12/2021 1:30 PM | I am opposed to any rate increase by Ameren Missouri. |
P202200376 | 11/18/2021 9:25 AM | (DF)I would like to ask that you not approve Ameren Missouri's current rate increase request of 11.97%. My income is not increasing by 11.97% and I doubt many others that Ameren serves are getting pay raises of 11.97% either. |
P202200377 | 11/18/2021 10:35 AM | I was shocked to learn that MOPSC allowed and approved Ameren to change the format of residential customer billingreading, removing previous and current readings. In my opinion it can lead to fraud in the future.MOPSC did disservice to bublic. No one is going to read his meter each 15min.Sounds crazy. What Ameren tries to hide from customers. They can simply improve their software in smart meters and nothing more.Going back to 20th century with a pencil to record you readings!I am not the only one co |
P202200382 | 11/21/2021 5:34 PM | I am opposed to the proposed increase which Ameren UE is requesting which would increase the typical residential customer bill by 11.97%. Please add my no vote to stop the increase. Thank you. |
P202200383 | 11/21/2021 11:22 PM | Attached are 229 comments collected by Sierra Club on Ameren's proposed rate increase, Docket ER-2021-0240. |
P202200389 | 12/1/2021 8:42 AM | see attached |
P202200393 | 12/2/2021 9:55 AM | see attached |
P202200394 | 12/5/2021 10:37 PM | Hello, I would like to say that the rate hike on Missourians is ridiculous as it is insane. How can someone justify a rate hike when Ameren and Spire both record sales growth and making profits? If there are repairs that need to be made then they need to dip into the money they pay share holders and not tax the people when they are already making a profit. If these companies cannot afford to stay afloat then let them sink and have them become public utilites. |
P202200395 | 12/5/2021 10:37 PM | There is no good reason for gas or electric rates to rise. Inflation is causing rising cost on everything else. Ameren and Spire need to look for ways to cut costs instead of raising prices on customers who are essentially held hostage. Deny the rate hike. |
P202200398 | 12/6/2021 6:42 AM | Rates are high now. Pretty soon no one will be able to afford electricity. If people cannot afford they will resort to other means. And if people are desperate it could cause harm. |
P202200399 | 12/6/2021 6:51 AM | Please do not give Ameren the right to raise our electric rates. You just gave Spire the ok to raise our rates probably due to the pipelane which was ridiculous since the pipeline is going to be stopped. How much can the average customer afford with another increase. Stop letting these companies from raising our rates. |
P202200400 | 12/6/2021 7:44 AM | We have completed the recommendations to save power. Yes, it has worked! We are senior citizens and have an all electric house in a rural area. Please share with me what differences I will see as a consumer. |
P202200403 | 12/6/2021 5:56 PM | It is disappointing to have these rate increases. I understand that equipment needs repairs and updates. I understand that salaries need to be competitive to keep capable, responsible employees. But I don’t understand utilities paying dividends to shareholders and increasing rates for users. It is time to make some changes with that. I am 69 yrs old and living in social security, working a part time job and approximately $200.00 a month pension. I am just barely making it. |
P202200404 | 12/8/2021 12:40 AM | Please do not approve Ameren’s rate hike request. If you look at their stockholder report, you see that Ameren is increasingly profitable. Increasing rates when the company’s earnings are already increasing will simply be a money transfer from the ratepayers directly to investors, as it is clearly not needed to support operations. |
P202200405 | 12/8/2021 12:23 PM | These comments are a followup about Ameren Missouri's smart meters that was sent to the Missouri Public Service Commission as a complaint from me via my thegman46@yahoo.com account on 10-28-2021, 01:35 PM CDT. See attached for full comments. |
P202200408 | 12/10/2021 2:35 PM | (tb) See attached mailing from customer - upset he received a disc notice, thinks maybe tis is the year for Ameren to take a step back, forego the rate increase, and focus on treating customers like customer. |
P202200411 | 12/13/2021 4:43 PM | (co) Customer called stating a tenant moved out. On Friday, she received a bill from a Collection Agency in the amount of $180. The tenant didn't pay. She didn't receive a bill from Ameren. This is unacceptable. Ameren can do anything they please. |
P202200416 | 12/27/2021 12:54 PM | See Attached |
P202200422 | 1/10/2022 8:20 AM | hello: I completely disagree with this large increase from Ameren. that's a big increase to consumers at $11.78 monthly. why can't you increase at a lower rate and still gain a large return. all these increases are getting out of hand.l |
P202200432 | 1/24/2022 9:49 AM | (JE) Arielle is wanting to opt out of AMI meter & is upset at the costs of opting out & believes that the fees are too high |
P202200433 | 1/24/2022 8:31 PM | Please see the attached comments. |
P202200444 | 1/31/2022 8:33 AM | (JE) Barb sent email to PSC Info regarding AMI meters. She is upset over Ameren installing them but also upset about the opt out fees (SEE ATTACHED EMAIL) |
P202200491 | 2/22/2022 2:55 PM | (LK) Mr. Young has issues with all items with the Ameren bills. He states that years ago there was just one line item and now there are charges after charges and tax after tax. Consumers can't continue to see their bills increase the way they are. Something needs to be done to stop the increases. |
P202200509 | 3/4/2022 3:42 PM | (LK) Walter Lewis called regarding Ameren increasing rates and making "200 million more" off of consumers. He wanted a public comment that asks "who paid the commission to approve this/". |
P202200510 | 3/7/2022 12:46 PM | (JE) Lady called & did not want to provide her name. She is unhappy with Ameren's opt out fees regarding AMI meters. She doesn't believe the technology is necessary and thinks that the PSC set opt out fees too high. She also believes that customers should vote for things like this not 5 commissioners deciding things. |
P202300078 | 7/27/2022 8:23 AM | I oppose Ameren's deployment of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) meters in Missouri. See attached. |
P202300079 | 7/28/2022 9:33 AM | Mr. Graf is opposed to Ameren's "time of use" rates. Policy forces customers to decide which rate structure they want to use, which will be "locked in" for a year. It's impossible to tell within the 3 months Ameren gives to analyze rates and usage to determine how that rate will play out over 12 months. Customers should be allowed to switch plans at any time. Also, Mr. Graf opposes Ameren Missouri's solar net metering policy: Credit for solar power should be dollar-for-dollar exchange. |
P202300377 | 8/25/2022 1:24 PM | (tb) Rene opposed to the rate increase, says not fair that everything is going up and the people don't get any more. |
P202301105 | 11/7/2022 10:32 AM | (tb) Mr. Schmidt said the the charges for opt-out on the smart meters is more that my electric bill and is excessive |
P202400197 | 9/14/2023 1:48 PM | During the last two years we lost power about 15 times. Whenever there is a storm the power seems to go out. Many homes in our neighborhood are impacted with blackouts lasting from several hours to several days. Unfortunately, my husband has a chronic illness. I am his caregiver. Blackouts are very difficult for us. Please, encourage Ameren Missouri to make the power supply safe and consistent in our neighborhood. |
