P202200431 | 1/24/2022 9:18 AM | (JE) Scott sent public comments (SEE ATTACHED). Scott would like the PSC to look at Kansas & articles mentioned in his public comment |
P202200502 | 2/23/2022 8:58 AM | I understand that the price of business does go up, but this increase seems outrageous! It's is price gouging and I don't know many people who can afford it. People are going to go without heat, hot water at these prices. My recent bill is 4x what it was 2 months ago and we only use gas for heat. We have not changed the thermostat. I also understand that temperatures have been low but this is getting to be too much. |
P202200504 | 2/23/2022 7:44 PM | I am 81 years old and on a fixed income. This increase is devastating!!! Not only to me but many more like me. Please reconsider this enormous amount of increase. |
P202200521 | 3/30/2022 11:14 AM | (co) Customer called disputing charges, rate riders, and adjustments. She asked why don't we do all at once? She stated it'd be easier on consumers. |
P202200614 | 5/27/2022 9:46 AM | (JP) "It is not fair for the customers to have to pay opt-out fees to keep/have analogue manual when that is what we already had. Especially for those who have concerns about the safety of the smart meters. The customers should have more of a say in these matters & I think this issue needs to be revisited by the Commission." |
P202200615 | 5/31/2022 4:27 PM | I would like to voice my opinion about the Missouri no knock order that Evergy has got in the rate case. I am an employee of Evergy, This co has cut the workforce in half, all of the company positions had to take a pay cut to stay. We have been in union negotiations over a year, they don’t want to give any increase in pay whatsoever. They are going to be 30 employees that are gonna be out of work if they do pass the no knock in Missouri. Please don’t let them put any one else out of work!! |
P202200616 | 5/31/2022 4:48 PM | Evergy is trying to initiate a “no knock” program. Bad idea. Records are not kept updated well enough for people to be notified they will be disconnected due to manpower cut backs. It is almost impossible to reach people at Evergy for any reason at all. Most if not all departments have been downsized to the point that you have to leave a message and callback number, and calls are very rarely returned. I have no success at all when I try to reach someone for help. |
P202200624 | 6/13/2022 9:04 AM | I am opposed to the recent request for a rate increase. These people need to tighten their belt like the rest of us are having to do and figure out where they can cut costs. It seems like your organization gives automatic blanket approval for every increase they request. How about making them more accountable this time. Please keep me apprised of your decision. |
P202200625 | 6/13/2022 1:03 PM | Is Evergy serious about raising rates?! They better lower the cost of gas then! We are dying! Poor people can't stand this. Need to get rid of old elected officials out of office like Emanuel Cleaver. |
P202200629 | 6/14/2022 10:59 AM | I am registering my disapproval of the proposed rate increase for the Evergy Missouri Metro Territory. This is an extremely poor time to ask more of working-class Missourians. Please include my comment among those of others weighing in. - PJ Mac |
P202200632 | 6/21/2022 10:15 AM | To Whom It May Concern, My name is Lydia Saylor. My husband and I live in Liberty, Missouri with our two kids and two dogs. Most of our families live in the Kansas City area as well. We love Kansas City and we are both proud and grateful to be here. I am writing to you in regard to the request by Evergy to increase their rate by 8.31%. See attached for full comment. |
P202200637 | 6/23/2022 4:27 PM | I received a notice from Evergy about the proposed rate increase. I don't know if they are pursuing nuclear power plants(which I'd prefer) or creating energy from non-green sources(again- preferable), but I would hope that going "green" at the expense of people's ability to pay would not be a primary goal. For senior citizens on fixed incomes, and those trying to live on a budget, electricity needs to be affordable and not constantly increasing greatly in price. |
P202200638 | 6/27/2022 11:04 AM | See Attached |
P202300003 | 7/8/2022 10:22 AM | I am a senior citizen of Missouri, I am 88 and handicapped because of 2 strokes...What are we on a limited income supposed to do, food, gas and everything is going so high and now they want to raise our electricity bill by almost $5. Are we to stop eating or going shopping for our needs & food? Water bill for one person is $76, gas doubled this year, and now evergy wants a raise also, What for? (See Attached) |
P202300010 | 7/14/2022 9:15 AM | See Attached |
P202300094 | 8/1/2022 1:03 PM | I understand that Evergy has applied for a rate increase for Mo customers. As a resident of KC, Mo. I would like to suggest that this request be denied the electric rates are already high enough without any further adjustment. Perhaps if the CEO were not paid $5M per year no rate increase would be needed.0 |
P202300109 | 8/3/2022 5:09 PM | I can't afford a hundred dollars or more a year increase. Neither can thousands of others. |
P202300110 | 8/3/2022 5:13 PM | As a Missourian, I write to ask that the Public Service Commission direct Evergy to use its customers’ hard-earned money to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels and toward affordable and reliable clean energy to protect our communities from the worst impacts of pollution and climate change. |
P202300111 | 8/3/2022 5:18 PM | We need clean energy. Protect out future and invest in green energy! |
P202300112 | 8/3/2022 5:21 PM | Let's make this work today for tomorrow! I write to ask that the Public Service Commission direct Evergy to use its customers’ hard-earned money to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels and toward affordable and reliable clean energy to protect our communities from the worst impacts of pollution and climate change. |
P202300113 | 8/3/2022 5:24 PM | Each month that we don't take action to reduce the use of fossil fuels, we are putting the future of the planet and the future of our children and grandchildren in danger. |
P202300114 | 8/3/2022 6:09 PM | Each month that we don't take action to reduce the use of fossil fuels, we are putting the future of the planet and the future of our children and grandchildren in danger. |
P202300115 | 8/3/2022 6:12 PM | As a Missourian, I write to ask that the Public Service Commission direct Evergy to use its customers’ hard-earned money to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels and toward affordable and reliable clean energy to protect our communities from the worst impacts of pollution and climate change. |
P202300116 | 8/3/2022 6:16 PM | Evergy’s Missouri customers are burdened with the impacts of fossil fuel industries. As many as one in five households in areas Evergy serves are below the poverty line, meaning thousands of Missourians are burdened by energy insecurity as they try to recover from a pandemic while breathing the pollution of the utility’s dirty fossil fuels. |
P202300117 | 8/3/2022 6:18 PM | As a Missourian, I write to ask that the Public Service Commission direct Evergy to use its customers’ hard-earned money to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels and toward affordable and reliable clean energy to protect our communities from the worst impacts of pollution and climate change |
P202300118 | 8/3/2022 6:22 PM | By raising rates so high ,we cannot afford to pay for this!We are on a fixed income and we don't have any way of affording this rate,we would have to do without air in the summer and heat in the winter, not pay for medicine or food.We cannot afford this!!You would kill us.Coal should be part of the plan it may take years for another plan that to be up and running and make it reliable as coal, blackout and ration of electricity is not the answer either. |
P202300119 | 8/3/2022 6:25 PM | As a Missourian, I write to ask that the Public Service Commission direct Evergy to use its customers’ hard-earned money to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels and toward affordable and reliable clean energy to protect our communities from the worst impacts of pollution and climate change. |
P202300120 | 8/3/2022 6:30 PM | Clean energy is very important to our environment. Not polluting by using coal. the expensive electric bills are breaking everyone in the communities i for one am on disability I pay more for electric than I do for my rent it’s ridiculous the bills have tripled in the last few years it's whether we can eat or keep our lights on at home. Things need to change for the people to survive |
P202300121 | 8/3/2022 6:33 PM | As a Missourian, I write to ask that the Public Service Commission direct Evergy to use its customers’ hard-earned money to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels and toward affordable and reliable clean energy to protect our communities from the worst impacts of pollution and climate change |
P202300122 | 8/3/2022 6:35 PM | As a Missourian, I write to ask that the Public Service Commission direct Evergy to use its customers’ hard-earned money to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels and toward affordable and reliable clean energy to protect our communities from the worst impacts of pollution and climate change. |
P202300123 | 8/3/2022 6:38 PM | Evergy admits it can switch from coal and gas to clean energy sources without rate increases, maintain grid reliability, and reduce harmful pollution emissions 85 percent by 2030, which would protect public health, yet that is not what the utility is doing. |
P202300124 | 8/3/2022 6:41 PM | As a Missourian, I write to ask that the Public Service Commission direct Evergy to use its customers’ hard-earned money to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels and toward affordable and reliable clean energy to protect our communities from the worst impacts of pollution and climate change |
P202300125 | 8/3/2022 6:43 PM | As a Missourian, I write to ask that the Public Service Commission direct Evergy to use its customers’ hard-earned money to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels and toward affordable and reliable clean energy to protect our communities from the worst impacts of pollution and climate change. |
P202300126 | 8/3/2022 6:45 PM | I think customer dollars should be used to transition to clean energy sources, not to subsidize Evergy's continued reliance on fossil fuels. |
P202300129 | 8/3/2022 6:53 PM | It's time we start looking toward the future instead of clinging to outdated technologies and power sources of the past. |
P202300130 | 8/3/2022 6:55 PM | Fossil fuels are killing Americans, impairing our health, destroying our environment, speeding climate change and threatening our future! Please increase clean energy production and transmission and stop using fossil fuels! |
P202300135 | 8/3/2022 7:06 PM | As a Missourian, I write to ask that the Public Service Commission direct Evergy to use its customers’ hard-earned money to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels and toward affordable and reliable clean energy to protect our communities from the worst impacts of pollution and climate change. |
P202300137 | 8/3/2022 7:10 PM | As customers of Evergy, having our power sourced from clean energy is extremely important and the only responsible decision to be made. |
P202300145 | 8/4/2022 5:51 PM | Your customers require that you spend the money to improve their health and make the investment for a better future for the planet. Invest in clean energy now when they're still time. Stop wasting money on buying coal let's move forward. Profit profit profit is not what the customers want they want security and a clean future. |
P202300146 | 8/4/2022 5:53 PM | We have had multiple power outages over the past two years. Why are we being asked to pay more for less reliable service?! |
P202300147 | 8/4/2022 5:56 PM | As a Missourian, I write to ask that the Public Service Commission direct Evergy to use its customers’ hard-earned money to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels and toward affordable and reliable clean energy to protect our communities from the worst impacts of pollution and climate change. |

P202300150 | 8/4/2022 6:02 PM | Evergy’s Missouri customers are burdened with the impacts of fossil fuel industries. As many as one in five households in areas Evergy serves are below the poverty line, meaning thousands of Missourians are burdened by energy insecurity as they try to recover from a pandemic while breathing the pollution of the utility’s dirty fossil fuels. |

P202300161 | 8/4/2022 6:25 PM | As a Missourian, I write to ask that the Public Service Commission direct Evergy to use its customers’ hard-earned money to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels and toward affordable and reliable clean energy to protect our communities from the worst impacts of pollution and climate change. |
P202300162 | 8/4/2022 6:28 PM | If Evergy has stated that it can switch from coal and gas to clean energy sources without rate increases, maintain grid reliability, and reduce harmful pollution emissions 85 percent by 2030, then why does it need to raise the rate it charges residential customers? Keep that Wyoming coal in the Wyoming ground, don't put it in the atmosphere where it will only aggravate the climate crisis at greater expense than a switch to clean energy sources. |
P202300163 | 8/4/2022 6:30 PM | I greatly appreciate that Evergy, Missouri, etc allows net metering for those of us with solar panels. I also appreciate all of the (free) energy saving devices and recommendations. However, I really do want Evergy to move away from coal and petroleum products without adversely effecting my energy bills. |
P202300164 | 8/4/2022 6:32 PM | As a Missourian, I write to ask that the Public Service Commission direct Evergy to use its customers’ hard-earned money to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels and toward affordable and reliable clean energy to protect our communities from the worst impacts of pollution and climate change. |
P202300165 | 8/4/2022 6:33 PM | I have breathing issues and can tell weather quality even when in my air-conditioned home. I, indeed all of us, need Evergy to leave coal behind and use renewable energy sources for generating electricity. Now is the time. The need is clear. Invest in the well being of the citizens Evergy serves. |
P202300166 | 8/4/2022 6:35 PM | As a Missourian, I write to ask that the Public Service Commission direct Evergy to use its customers’ hard-earned money to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels and toward affordable and reliable clean energy to protect our communities from the worst impacts of pollution and climate change. |
P202300167 | 8/4/2022 6:37 PM | As a Missourian, I write to ask that the Public Service Commission direct Evergy to use its customers’ hard-earned money to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels and toward affordable and reliable clean energy to protect our communities from the worst impacts of pollution and climate change. |
P202300168 | 8/4/2022 6:39 PM | Clean energy is the future. Don't become irrelevant. |
P202300180 | 8/8/2022 12:55 PM | Customer dollars should be invested in affordable, reliable, and clean energy options, not failing coal plants that shovel our money into the pockets of coal companies and monopoly utility shareholders. |
P202300181 | 8/8/2022 12:57 PM | Please invest in clean energy rather than using more coal! Thanks! |
P202300182 | 8/8/2022 12:59 PM | As a Missourian, I write to ask that the Public Service Commission direct Evergy to use its customers’ hard-earned money to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels and toward affordable and reliable clean energy to protect our communities from the worst impacts of pollution and climate change. |
P202300183 | 8/8/2022 1:01 PM | As a Missourian, I write to ask that the Public Service Commission direct Evergy to use its customers’ hard-earned money to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels and toward affordable and reliable clean energy to protect our communities from the worst impacts of pollution and climate change. |
P202300184 | 8/8/2022 1:03 PM | As communities throughout the utility’s territory are working hard to address the impacts of climate change, Evergy has to do its part by not wasting the opportunity that policy tools like securitization provide to invest in a resilient, clean energy grid that prioritizes customers’ health and financial well-being. |
P202300185 | 8/8/2022 1:06 PM | I have switched to clean energy using as much solar power as I can produce, and have had the opportunity to add energy back into the grid. This is vital. |
P202300186 | 8/8/2022 1:08 PM | Our electric utility is supposed to work in the interest of the public good. I demand that Evergy does its part to protect our health and general well-being and invest in clean, carbon-free energy. |
P202300187 | 8/8/2022 1:11 PM | It is way past time to stop investing in coal. Solar and wind are the future. |
P202300188 | 8/8/2022 1:13 PM | Evergy can't raise our rates AND use it towards dirty fossil fuels! Mo is one of the dirtiest states in the country. We must do our part to save this planet from climate change. Our children will have a horrible future otherwise. |
P202300189 | 8/8/2022 1:15 PM | As the mother of a young child, I am very concerned about the future my daughter will face if we don't do everything we can now to reduce greenhouse gas emissions today. Any additional funds Evergy receives must be put towards working to reduce their greenhouse gas input. |
P202300190 | 8/8/2022 1:17 PM | I want to give my kid a clean future. Please fight for one with me. |
P202300191 | 8/8/2022 1:19 PM | The climate crisis is here now - this summer transformers are catching fire because of the heat and strain on the system. Evergy should be investing money into sustainable energy, not fossil fuels that make things worse. |
P202300192 | 8/8/2022 1:22 PM | As a Missourian, I write to ask that the Public Service Commission direct Evergy to use its customers’ hard-earned money to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels and toward affordable and reliable clean energy to protect our communities from the worst impacts of pollution and climate change. |
P202300193 | 8/8/2022 1:24 PM | As a Missourian, I write to ask that the Public Service Commission direct Evergy to use its customers’ hard-earned money to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels and toward affordable and reliable clean energy to protect our communities from the worst impacts of pollution and climate change. |

P202300195 | 8/8/2022 1:28 PM | As a young person, I want companies to be held accountable for their greed, so that I may have a future. |
P202300196 | 8/8/2022 1:31 PM | As a Missourian, I write to ask that the Public Service Commission direct Evergy to use its customers’ hard-earned money to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels and toward affordable and reliable clean energy to protect our communities from the worst impacts of pollution and climate change |

P202300202 | 8/8/2022 1:44 PM | I'm a ratepayer and I want Evergy to stop pumping CO2 into the atmosphere from burning coal. I want Evergy to close the Hawthorn Coal Plant in northeast KC and use my rate money to transition to clean renewable energy like wind and solar by 2030. Thank you |
P202300204 | 8/8/2022 2:38 PM | I am OPPOSED to the rate increase requested by Evergy Missouri Metro (case# ER-2022-0129). See attached for full comments. |
P202300205 | 8/8/2022 4:08 PM | As a Missourian, I write to ask that the Public Service Commission direct Evergy to use its customers’ hard-earned money to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels and toward affordable and reliable clean energy to protect our communities from the worst impacts of pollution and climate change. |

P202300211 | 8/8/2022 4:19 PM | I don’t want my money going toward coal, I want Evergy to spend it on wind, solar, storage and virtual power plants where customers can earn money (not just bill savings) for conserving during peak demand. |
P202300212 | 8/8/2022 4:21 PM | As a Missourian, I write to ask that the Public Service Commission direct Evergy to use its customers’ hard-earned money to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels and toward affordable and reliable clean energy to protect our communities from the worst impacts of pollution and climate change. |

P202300214 | 8/8/2022 4:25 PM | Please protect our future generations with cleaner air. |
P202300215 | 8/8/2022 4:29 PM | We expect Evergy’s requested rate increase to add an extra $100 per year for Evergy’s Missouri customers. 13% of Missourians live below the poverty line, meaning they’re already at risk of energy insecurity and face a high energy burden (pay a much higher percentage of their income to keep their electricity on than they can afford). |
P202300216 | 8/8/2022 4:40 PM | Utilities are a necessity. Rising prices means people will be choosing between rent, groceries, and air conditioning. Prices are too high. It's too hot. People don't make enough. It's not fair and it shows that Evergy's interests are purely with their investors and not at all for the people they are supposed to serve. |

P202300298 | 8/9/2022 8:40 AM | (tb) called to say opposed to rate increase, 85 & 78 yrs old, this is a complex problem to make it harder on the elderly |
P202300301 | 8/9/2022 9:48 AM | “I can understand a little raise but their profit margin is too high as it is; I think they’re doing just fine. This increase is too much. It’s the highest utility I have to pay.” |
P202300303 | 8/9/2022 11:21 AM | (co) Customer called stating no. Enough increases on everything, taxes and all. |
P202300304 | 8/9/2022 11:23 AM | (co) Customer called stating she doesn't think that it's fair. Have to live, too. Not getting pay increase. Tired of disrespect. Feeling like people can raise bill anytime they want to. When does it stop? This is supposed to be America. All about money. |
P202300306 | 8/9/2022 2:20 PM | In reference to ER-2022-0129. NO INCREASE FOR EVERGY!!!! Why allow corporations to raise rates to maintain high profits when the consumers are suffering? From 2020 to 2021, Evergy's stock improved over $1.00 a share....while consumers lost money based on inflation. Isn't it time a corporation and their rich CEO's and shareholders have to share the burden of inflation. Evergy doesn't NEED more money. If they take less profit, so be it. |
P202300308 | 8/9/2022 2:47 PM | I don't think Evergy Metro needs to raise rates. They will still make a profit if they don't raise rates. I don't make a profit because I am on a budget. |
P202300310 | 8/9/2022 3:01 PM | Do not approve increase. Keep it at a minimum. Times are hard enough as it is. |
P202300311 | 8/9/2022 3:02 PM | ref ER-2022-0129. I am a customer of Evergy. I have heard their recent ads talking about how they have lowered rates in my area. I don't know about that as I cannot tell from my bill. However I do NOT believe they should be advertising their name at places like Kauffman Stadium & Arrowhead stadium, with just their name. That is spending revenue for a monopoly enterprise that does not need to advertise. I am opposed to their request for a rate increase as long as they do this type of ads. |
P202300313 | 8/9/2022 3:09 PM | Disagree with Evergy increase. Fuel costs will go down but the rate will not go down with it. A temporary increase would be fine but not a permanent. |
P202300314 | 8/9/2022 3:11 PM | Evergy's increase of 8.31% is way too high!! |
P202300315 | 8/10/2022 8:37 AM | RE: Evergy's request to raise rates and to continue the Fuel Adjustment Clause. Like many customers, my wife and I are on a relatively fixed budget. I am not sure why Every needs to raise their rates when their shares went from $2.72 in 2020 to $3.83 in 2021. I am tired of corporations (especially those that are necessities) continue to profit off the backs of the consumers. Let my rate stay as is and they make less profit. |
P202300326 | 8/12/2022 2:20 PM | Hello, my name is Jayla Atkinson I am a resident of Kansas City MO and I am the Environmental Justice Educator for CleanAirNOW. This is a public testimony for Evergy. I ask Evergy to close down the Hawthorn coal plant as soon as possible to protect the lives of residents in KCMO and KCK. |
P202300649 | 9/23/2022 9:39 AM | Lived in residence for 35 years. See attached for full comments. |
P202301132 | 12/9/2022 8:03 AM | Through interactions with Evergy, I was made aware of a planned reduction of employees to the number of 350. As an Evergy rate payer, I am concerned about the continuing level of service due to this reduction. I am also concerned with the recent rate case that I believe included language stating the need for the rate to help cover rising employee costs. (See attached) |
P202301476 | 2/3/2023 8:05 AM | My last bill from Energy was just short of $200 for December of 2022. December was a relatively mild month, yet my cost was approximately 33% higher than last year. We are both retired on live on relatively set incomes (pension/investments/social security). (See attached) |
P202301952 | 2/10/2023 2:10 PM | (co) Customer called stating people on social security can't afford to pay utilities and buy medicine. Everyone is raising their rates and these people are getting 4/5 million. |
P202302149 | 5/31/2023 1:55 PM | (co) Customer called stating that he installed solar panels on his home a year ago. He's getting next to nothing for that energy. The policy is exploitive. It should be retail rate - wholesale rate = cogeneration rate. Other utilities are doing this. |
P202302286 | 6/29/2023 7:19 AM | Evergy's proposed "peak saver" utility use rate schedule with rate increases during "peak" hours will put most seniors and low income persons at a health risk of heat stroke as they propose to incur higher costs for running the air conditioner during the hottest time of day. This will force many to run off the fans & a.c. and suffer in teh unbearable 94 degree temp with heat indexes of over 100. |
P202302305 | 6/30/2023 2:28 PM | (JP) "This will end up being a penalty for people who work during the day and are at home during the on-peak hours so there won't be a decrease in rates. Also their ability to cycle the electric load by running a persons' Nest thermostat may save money up front but will probably me more in the long run b/c the load shed will exhaust. It sounds good at first but I think the customers will really be hurt by these TOUs." |
P202400003 | 7/3/2023 8:34 AM | (JE) Brett is unhappy with Evergy's Time of Use rates. Got notice on bill about rates changing in October. Brett feels like the rates punish those that work during the week with higher rates when they come home to cook, clean, and do laundry. |
P202400005 | 7/3/2023 10:41 AM | (JP) "The company uses the phrase 'one time cost' to get rate increases approved. They used the excuse of inflation for one reason for a rate increase but inflation is going down. How can the PSC let them use a variable situation like that to permanently increase my bill? Also forcing me to go to go to the TOU rates will not make my bill go down; it will increase. The Commissioners are appointed by the governor and have no consequences." |
P202400006 | 7/3/2023 11:26 AM | (JP) "This needs to be stopped immediately. This is price gouging and discrimination against the elderly, disabled, and those who work night shifts. There is no way the State of MO should have allowed anything like this to ever happen. I want the rates rescinded." |
P202400028 | 7/10/2023 2:04 PM | (co) Customer called stating that customer service couldn't answer his TOU rates questions. He has zero options as far as accepting this. This is one big monopoly that's able to dictate their prices based off whatever they want. He's getting robbed. |
P202400033 | 7/14/2023 11:13 AM | I am a climate-concerned customer of Evergy in Kansas City and have some thoughts about your decision to require Evergy customers to pick one of four time-of-use plans by October. Generally speaking, I think this is a wonderfully forward-thinking move on your part. My one reservation about this relates to those customers who have abandoned natural gas and now heat and cool their homes with electricity. (See attached pdf) |

P202400043 | 7/17/2023 2:06 PM | See Attached |
P202400052 | 7/21/2023 4:17 PM | (JP) "No matter what rate you choose the highest rates will be between 4pm-8pm. Your A/C is going to run from 4-8pm no matter what unless you want to sit in your house and sweat so you're always going to pay a higher rate next summer. Evergy pulled the wool over yours and you let them get away with it. How stupid can you be?" |
P202400053 | 7/21/2023 4:47 PM | (JP) "This implementation was not though through very well by the PSC. This is going to really hit customers next summer and now I blame the PSC. People can choose when they're going to use their dishwasher but they're not going to turn their AC off during the peak heat hours. Thats stupid." |
P202400082 | 8/2/2023 11:51 AM | I have an issue with the way Evergy is implementing its new time of use rates. It's difficult to find the plans on the company's website. You have to provide your address and zip code, and then it's confusing to try to assess the various plans and made sense of how best to choose the plan that will benefit the consumer. Also, the increase in rates for peak hours from 11 cents to three times that is excessive. |
P202400117 | 8/18/2023 4:07 PM | Please explain to me how an unelected five-member board of commissioners has the authority to enact such oppressive and burdensome measures on how consumers are charge by the utility companies. (see attached pdf) |
P202400119 | 8/21/2023 1:15 PM | (co) Customer called stating that the state can't put TOU rates in place until customers know their electric needs. This will put people out of their homes and on the streets. He thought the PSC was supposed to help customers. |
P202400120 | 8/22/2023 3:03 PM | (co) Customer called stating that Evergy has not given her adequate information. From 4-8, 8-11, and 12-6, they're telling it's an extra charge. What is the amount? They're comparing her to efficient neighbors. Where are they? She can't see this. |
P202400121 | 8/22/2023 4:51 PM | Hello, I'm writing to express my detest of the newly mandated electrical rates imposed by the Missouri Public Service Commission. These new plans will unfairly target millions of customers who are already struggling to make ends meet while staying cool in record-setting temperatures. (See attached pdf) |
P202400123 | 8/23/2023 10:33 AM | "Evergy's communication with customers regarding the rate plan selection seems to suggest that there will be some significant financial benefits by biding by the rules but I don't see that there will be any. It seems to be more about electricity conservation and environmental stewardship and that is not in the information they are sending us." |
P202400127 | 8/25/2023 8:57 AM | (JE) Shawn called saying that he went online to Evergy's website to see what TOU rate will work best for him. He stated his rates will go up. Therefore, he is not in favor of TOU rates & thinks customer's should have a choice not be forced into them. |
P202400130 | 8/29/2023 3:35 PM | I am writing to you about the recent Evergy changes. As a resident of MO I feel compelled to speak out against this. Our utilities are squeezing us citizens without any recourse. I have done what I can to lower our bills by insulating our house and cutting back on heating and cooling. However, we find ourselves unable to keep up with our energy bill despite the cutbacks we have made. I am concerned this will continue to get worse, and we citizens have no control over what is happening. |
P202400131 | 8/30/2023 8:12 AM | (co) Customer called stating that for 35 years he's had all electric rates. There's no purpose in it if they think these people are going to go by this green circle. He tries to conserve electricity. They're penalizing conservative people that work for a living. He's totally against this. The Commission is getting way out of control. They're taking away his contract. |
P202400133 | 8/31/2023 8:41 AM | I am writing to let you know how upset I am at the perpetual rate increases allowed by the Missouri Public Service Commission, and my believe that Evergy is not transitioning fast enough to a mix of clean energy sources. I would also like to see laws proposed to regulate what Evergy can recoup in costs from customers. (see attached pdf) |
P202400134 | 8/31/2023 8:45 AM | I am writing to let you know I am upset at the perpetual rate increases allowed by the Missouri Public Service Commission, and that we believe Evergy is not transitioning fast enough to a mix of clean energy sources. We would also like to see laws proposed to regulate what Evergy can recoup in costs from customers. In addition, it is unacceptable that Evergy is allowed to pile new infrastructure costs directly onto the backs of residential customers. (see attached pdf) |
P202400135 | 8/31/2023 8:51 AM | This email is regarding the perpetual rate increases in electric costs in KCMO. Evergy is not transitioning fast enough to a mix of clean energy sources in the face of now yearly heat waves due to climate change, and we'd like to see more laws proposed to regulate what Evergy can recoup in costs from customers, and stop Evergy from throwing new infrastructure costs like the Desoto battery plant directly on to the backs of residential customers. |
P202400136 | 8/31/2023 8:58 AM | I want to dispute the proposed rate increase for Evergy’s Solar Subscription Program. I believe the rate increase should not be approved based on the information provided by Evergy when the program first rolled out. (see attached pdf) |
P202400137 | 8/31/2023 9:02 AM | Are you doing anything about the Evergy plan to bill us at a 4 times higher rate during peak hours (4 to 8)? (please see attached pdf) |
P202400140 | 8/31/2023 9:10 AM | I am writing to let you know that myself and many other Evergy customers I have spoken with are upset at the perpetual rate increases allowed by the Missouri Public Service Commission, and that we believe Evergy is not transitioning fast enough to a mix of clean energy sources- we would also like to see laws proposed to regulate what Evergy can recoup in costs from customers. P202400149 | 8/31/2023 12:29 PM | My name is Brian Smith, and I'm an Evergy customer living in the Kansas City metro. The electricity bills are getting a little out of hand..(see attached pdf) |

(see attached pdf) |
P202400156 | 8/31/2023 3:59 PM | I am writing to your office today with a single complaint - that Evergy is being allowed to price-gouge their customer base under your jurisdiction. You have the power to stop them. Please regulate their ability to weaken the lower- and middle-class citizens by jacking rates up higher and higher. (see attached pdf) |
P202400158 | 8/31/2023 4:53 PM | Many fellow customers share my concern about consistent rate hikes sanctioned by the Missouri Public Service Commission (MPSC). We urge Evergy to accelerate its transition to cleaner energy sources, while also proposing laws to regulate cost recovery and preventing the burden of new infrastructure costs on residential users.(see attached pdf) |
P202400159 | 9/1/2023 7:51 AM | The Kansas Corporation Commission staff recently spoke out that Evergy's recent requested rate increase isn't justified, and that Evergy should cut its rates by $18 million instead of raising rates by $218 million. We believe that the MPSC should look further into this finding from our neighbors on the Kansas side. (see attached pdf) |
P202400161 | 9/1/2023 8:21 AM | I am an Evergy customer residing in the Kansas City metro area. I am writing to express concerns shared by numerous other customers about Evergy's escalating electricity rates, which have been authorized by the Missouri Public Service Commission (MPSC). P202400167 | 9/5/2023 9:22 AM | "Due to these new rate plans that you (the gov't) is forcing upon is I will most likely have to sell my house that I've had for only a year. I bought the house because it's all electric in hopes to save money. Now my bill will be going up at least 13% w/ these new rates. Evergy is a monopoly and we have no choice to go elsewhere." |
P202400170 | 9/5/2023 12:59 PM | (co) Customer called stating that this is nothing, but a liberal idiotic plan if she ever seen. It's all part of the government control thing. There's no difference in the cost to produce it. She thinks we need to pull it all. All we're doing is helping Evergy's tax goers. She has to pay for infrastructure. She's taxed out the wazoo. This is ridiculous. Get a grip. We live in America. |
P202400183 | 9/12/2023 1:11 PM | Dear Nancy, My name is Kevin Hart. I am a customer of Evergy, and I am finding it more and more difficult to afford my electrical bills. I, like many in the Kansas City Metro area, have no choice in my electric company, meaning Evergy has an effective monopoly on the power grid. I am writing because I, along with many others in the city, are unhappy with the rate increases Evergy has been allowed. (see attached pdf) |
P202400184 | 9/12/2023 4:15 PM | (co) Customer called stating that he degutted his house and redid it and went to all electric because he was told they were going to have savings. Now they're taking it away. The discount is gone now because of their new rules. He doesn't think it's fair. It affects a lot of Missourians. He's going to be paying $1,000 more for electricity. We need to help him pay to get his gas hooked back up. |
P202400187 | 9/13/2023 7:22 AM | These variable rate increases do not make sense. Yes, there are peaks when demand is high to reduce demand and need to build out more plant - but rather than penalize everyone and hurt people that have no choice but to operate in peak how about more incentives to go to solar! This rate “fix” is not sustainable and seems to be a grab for more profit. The solution is counter to innovation and service to help people be more efficient. Please rethink this. Someone has to have the courage to relook and reconsider. Stacey McBride |
P202400192 | 9/14/2023 7:41 AM | I am writing today to COMPLAIN to anyone who will hear, about the new Evergy "use plans" that are being implemented in October.(see attached pdf) |
P202400199 | 9/15/2023 7:27 AM | My purpose in writing to you is to convey the collective frustration of myself and many other Evergy customers. We are deeply troubled by the continuous rate hikes approved by the Missouri Public Service Commission. Additionally, we believe that Evergy is not making adequate progress in transitioning to cleaner energy sources. We would also like to see legislation introduced to govern the extent to which Evergy can pass on its costs to customers. (see attached pdf) |
P202400201 | 9/15/2023 11:18 AM | (co) Customer called stating that she doesn't like TOU billing now or in the future. It should be a flat rate for everybody. If we disobey, they're going to have to raise their rates. That's behavior modification. That's not the job of the government. She signed a contract with KCP&L. She pays them money and they give her energy. She doesn't want to be constrained between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. |
P202400202 | 9/15/2023 11:22 AM | (co) Customer called stating that it's discrepant for people that work. The infrastructure won't support this electric car that they're trying to push everyone to and to try to continue to crash our economy to get rid of the fuel and the minerals and what it takes to build those cars we're supposed to pay for this. Citizens didn't pay for gas stations. None of that she's going to pay for. That is criminal. |
P202400207 | 9/18/2023 9:57 AM | After reviewing the pending rate increases it would appear that this board is not working in the best interest of the Missouri citizen. In reality the citizen is at the financial breaking point and yet the members of the PSC appear not to care. So let me ask, do you care? (see attached pdf) |
P202400208 | 9/18/2023 10:00 AM | My name is Emily Wynn- as an Evergy customer, it is becoming increasingly difficult to afford my electricity bills. Living in the Kansas City metro area, many people have no choice of electricity company- as Evergy has an electricity monopoly on a portion of the Kansas City metro area and much of the eastern half of Kansas. (see attached pdf) |
P202400209 | 9/18/2023 10:04 AM | From a consumer’s perspective, the communication and rollout of TOU Plans by Evergy has left a lot to be desired. (see attached pdf) |
P202400213 | 9/19/2023 9:24 AM | In regards to Evergy asking for a “revised” set of things, after initial requests presented to your commission board, in reference to them now wanting to moveup deadlines, and asking for contracting terms (12 months!) all benefiting Evergy- and not the consumer. I am certain there were hearings, meetings and terms set forth, in which now they wish to change. And also to mention, most likely blindsiding a lot of people in our County while we have be inundated with the tax assessment issues these last few months. Things should be left as presented and mentioned in multiple mailings sent by Evergy as is.(see attached pdf) |
P202400214 | 9/19/2023 9:31 AM | I have contacted each of my elected Representatives; City, State and Federal, Governor, Lt. Governor & Attorney Generals Offices expressing my concern as a Citizen and Taxpayer regarding the subjective decision forcing Missouri Residents into “Time Based” rates without Choice. (See attached pdf) |
P202400217 | 9/20/2023 10:25 AM | I live in the Kansas City, MO region and will be doing anything I can to get everyone I can to call in and complaint about this. It seems that your organization is listening to the leftist groups and not the customers. Customers do not want this. |
P202400222 | 9/21/2023 7:36 AM | To the members of the PUC, I am appalled at the rollout of the time based rate plans. It is obvious that a lot of money was spent on full color promotional materials with special emphasis on giving the public next to no information as to how to actually figure out the best plan to pick. (see attached pdf) |
P202400224 | 9/22/2023 7:51 AM | On behalf of myself, a senior citizen on a fixed income, and many other senior citizens and others who live on a fixed income in Missouri, I would like to register our disgust and disappointment at the callous attitude and methods implemented by the Missouri Public Service Commission in regards to the mandate to require the Evergy power company to institute time of use plans in such a short period of time.(see attached pdf) |
P202400226 | 9/22/2023 10:04 AM | How did this pass to let Evergy do this rate increase from 4-8? We like it the way it was. Look at all the complaints (from) people in Missouri. WE DO NOT WANT THIS!!! |
P202400229 | 9/22/2023 12:41 PM | Today I tried to make my tier plan selection, before the October 1 deadline. When I selected the new plan, I received the following error message: "Rate plan changes can only be made by individuals that are financially responsible for the account. View Account Holders" I called Evergy, and spoke to a representative who told me this is a known issue, and submitted a ticket on my behalf. I then called the PSC Consumer Hotline. The gentleman said this was the first time they had received this complaint. I wanted to follow this up in writing because many people are trying to make their selection before the October 1 deadline. Thank you! |
P202400230 | 9/22/2023 12:44 PM | I am writing to express concern that the new rate plans proposed by Evergy and imposed by the State raise serious equity issues. Businesses with 9-5 hours will benefit from the new rate plans. They may dramatically reduce costs by raising temperatures or shutting down climate control systems during the 4pm-8pm peak usage period. Plug-in EV owners may also save if they charge vehicles during lower cost times. (see attached pdf) |
P202400232 | 9/22/2023 4:31 PM | I am writing to express my concerns regarding the implementation of the "flexible rate plan" by Evergy. I recently became aware that my previous perception, which attributed this plan to Evergy's profit-seeking motives, was inaccurate. Instead, I have learned that it is a mandate imposed upon Evergy by The State.(see attached pdf) |
P202400235 | 9/25/2023 4:18 PM | Customer called stating that he can't believe how much more they call cost even if you don't use power during peak hours. It's so much more money a year than it is currently. He's disappointed with the cost he's going to have to pay. |
P202400244 | 9/29/2023 12:23 PM | Camille stated that Evergy has provided horrible education & customer service related to TOU rates & that the CSR's are poorly trained. PSC explained TOU rates better than the company did. |
P202400245 | 9/29/2023 12:45 PM | I was just informed on the decision by the PSC to move to time-based electricity billing. My question to you is where and when was this vetted in the public square. (See attached pdf) |
P202400250 | 10/2/2023 12:26 PM | "This is a form of control and to get residential customers to do what appointed officials tell them to do. There is no way it cost more to generate electricity from 4pm-8pm than it does at 9:00 A.M. The commercial customers using electricity during those hours should off-set the additional cost of the use that residential customers use during the on-peak hours." |
P202400251 | 10/3/2023 7:46 AM | I just wanted to forward you samples of the emails that consumers are now receiving from Evergy--emails we do not ask for and don't want. First, Evergy raises their rates and forces people onto "plans" that are supposedly "cheaper" than before. Well, they aren't cheaper. Then, Evergy WEEKLY sends out these "alerts" to try to "GUILT US" into turning off all electrical appliances etc....when we already avoid the "target hours" that EVERGY selected where they raised our rates. (see attached pdf, jpg) |
P202400253 | 10/2/2023 | (co) Customer called asking why they don't just leave us alone and let us keep going like we're going. The summer is sweltering, and the winter is freezing because we can't run air or furnaces because it's peak time and they'll charge us more money. We ought to have the right to opt out. |
P202400259 | 10/6/2023 2:20 PM | My issue is with the new rate program. It places the burden of saving energy solely on homeowners. The rate should be adjusted from 1-5 p.m. to encourage commercial buildings to reduce their energy needs. One 20,000 sq. ft. office uses more energy than 10 homes. Furthermore, they have the knowledge and ability to reduce the energy cost more so than a homeowner. If office buildings set their T-stats as 74 vs. 72 then the entire community would be better off. |
P202400267 | 10/19/2023 9:41 AM | Good Morning, I just wanted to reach out to you about the misleading rate plan change enforced by Evergy. Evergy sent many emails about the rate plan change, however they did not divulge in their marketing that when you chose your new plan that it would start immediately and not when the rate plans would go into effect October 2023. My family experienced at least two billing cycles of the higher rate plan unbeknownst to me. When I spoke with an Evergy supervisor she stated that there is nothing that could be done. I feel that this way is extremely deceptive practice. I know that I'm not the only one that this affected. Nevermind that we have a monopoly. It's not like I can change if I'm unhappy. Thank you for taking time to read this |
P202400289 | 11/30/2023 | Jeanette is a solar customer. When her account was switched to the solar default TOU rate the information on her bills changed. This information is not required to be put on the bills but she liked seeing the information. Information included kwh's & how much her solar panels produced. She called & got the information but thinks it should be required on the billing statements. |
P202400290 | 12/4/2023 3:44 PM | I do not appreciate having to pay thousands of dollars to a company whose staff has no clue what’s going on or how to help answer customers’ simple questions. Regardless of how we are treated by this company, we are powerless to switch or demand better. Please consider this the next time Evergy asks the PSC for a rate increase. I hope the PSC takes this seriously and understands how awful this is for consumers. Other companies have figured it out. I would ask that you please compel Evergy to do the same. You need to hold Evergy accountable and require them to improve their customer service before they can ask for more of our money. (see attached) |
P202400314 | 1/9/2024 10:54 AM | The service fees should be on a sliding scale; not a flat rate because I do my best to conserve energy and the service fee is half of my bill and that just isn't right. |
P202400321 | 1/19/2024 8:01 AM | Again I ask why? Why are we shutting down power plants in the Kansas City area? Last night we were without power from 1930 hours on 01-14-24 to 0430 on 01-15-24 with -8 degree temperatures, and that was the second time that day we lost power. Third time this week. Evergy said the first outage was due to a blown fuse. The second time was a blown fuse and a transformer. Sounds to me like too much strain on the power system. And we are closing power plants? Where is the common sense in these decisions? Belton and Raymore have done a lot of building in the area. Lots of multi family, single structure and MASSIVE warehouses. That's all great. I'm grateful for new jobs and companies bringing tax dollars to the area,,(SEE ATTACHED) |
P202500805 | 9/25/2024 | Customer called and stated that he had gotten a letter regarding time of use rates. The cheapest choice is his current plan. It is a waste of everyone's time. They should rephrase it differently. He receives it once or twice a year. They claimed the PSC is forcing them to send the letter. It is essentially spam. |
