P202200635 | 6/22/2022 11:30 AM | (JE) Dennis called wanting Ameren to trim trees more often than they are doing it. Doesn't think they are doing a good job of it and just wants it done more frequently than the current cycle basis Ameren is using |
P202300139 | 8/3/2022 9:56 PM | Per the description on the dnr.mo.gov website the Net Metering and the Easy Connection Act law requires a tariff rate structure for net-metering customers that identical to customers who are not customer-generators. A number of the Time-of-Use rates in the latest tariff are not available to net-metering customers which appears to be in violation of this requirement (effectively creates a separate tariff structure for residential solar customer-generators). |
P202300299 | 8/9/2022 8:51 AM | Ameren Missouri proposed electric rate increase - $12 average will be incorrect for myself and any others that are all electric home. In the heat of the summer it could be $20 more per month and winter up to $25 per month. In Mexico, Mo there are a pretty good percent of all electric customers. Ameren takes rate increase continuously and in the past public hearings do nothing to stop it. |
P202300316 | 8/10/2022 8:51 AM | We the public were just informed that Ameren is going to have the audacity to ask you for rate increases! Do not buy into their BS (sorry only explicative I can find for them). You have already allowed them to charge us $9.14 for residential customers just for the "honor" of being their customer! (See attached for the full comment.) |
P202300317 | 8/10/2022 12:55 PM | I do not feel that Ameren should get a rate increase they are already getting more than enough and making more than enough money it is a strain on small families and the elderly for this rate increase there's no justification for it |
P202300338 | 8/18/2022 10:36 AM | I believe that Ameren is dedicated to providing reliable energy to its customers, if 12$ per month on average is what it takes then I'm good with that. |
P202300376 | 8/25/2022 1:06 PM | (co) Customer called stating you give them every rate increase they want. You're supposed to represent us. $149 of a $400 bill is their work agenda for putting in all of their junk. It's unexplainable what they're doing with my money. I can't afford it anymore. |
P202300381 | 8/26/2022 8:27 AM | I have lived in missouri for over a year so far, and I can tell you that the electricity bill charges are one of the lowest in the entire country. I think Ameren should go ahead and increase the rates, because it will hopefully help expand its utility assistance/liheap partnership. (see attached for full comment) |
P202300418 | 9/4/2022 9:44 PM | I’m never late on payments! My bill runs on average about $231 a month, my August and September bills were almost $500. When I called to see why there was such a spike I was told it was due to being summer month prices and that my bill would go back to normal. Well here we are and my bill isn’t normal. It actually was higher than my august bill. Fortunately I’m able to pay the bill this time but any chance at having savings is out the window. |
P202300421 | 9/6/2022 10:18 AM | We are paying more in utilities than we can afford already why are you wanting to charge us more the problem being some people are already having to choose between paying high bills and not eating think of the children and family not being able to eat it is sickening to know that while pay is increasing very little electric gas water keep going higher and higher |
P202300493 | 9/19/2022 3:41 PM | (co) Customer called asking why is the $40 fee being charged by Ameren that you don't get the smart meter so high. He stated most other states at the $10 range. $500 additional a year seems to be really out of line. |
P202300517 | 9/20/2022 1:08 PM | (co) Customer called stating he's hoping that Ameren does not raise the rates. He's a MO resident. |
P202300703 | 9/26/2022 3:10 PM | (co) Customer called stating he owns a home and business. He's concerned about smart meters. He doesn't mind paying a monthly fee. $40 a month is highway robbery. Health issues. Sensitive electronics don't want damaged. |
P202300730 | 9/27/2022 9:30 AM | Ameren UE is once again seeking a rate increase. See attached for full comments. |
P202300754 | 9/28/2022 12:16 PM | My name is Gigi Quinlan McAreavy. It appears my public comments did not go through, sorry still learning your system. After additional research after my public hearing comments more things appear to be adding up. Please see the attached comments and research as I have found in a testimonial. Thank you for your time this is my final comments |
P202300765 | 9/29/2022 7:56 AM | I have conducted additional research at home and on my lunch hour are sharing these final comments from my findings. If I need to share with more let me know. See attached. |
P202300805 | 10/2/2022 7:57 AM | With the Executive of Ameren making almost $10M a year, Ameren does not need to raise the rates of the average citizen, and especially not the rates of the elderly who are living on a fixed income. If Ameren needs money, cut the salaries of their executives, because the average citizens cannot afford a rate increase. |
P202300862 | 10/6/2022 10:53 AM | (co) Customer called stating yesterday police showed up at the neighbors house. He took cables off the power line. Ameren took forever to come out. His house is 8 feet from his. If caught on fire, there goes half of his house. |
P202300865 | 10/6/2022 6:01 PM | I had a.problem with Ameren concerning a feeder line to my home. I called Ameren and they sent an employee to my home. He tightened the feeder line but he had to drill another hole in the roof trim to accommodate the feeder line. What he did not do is to fill the original hole. I called the Commission about this problem. The result was the original hole was filled. I returned to my home and the hole was filled. Thanks to all for helping solve this problem. |
P202300931 | 10/12/2022 2:27 PM | (co) Customer called stating she got her first gas and electric bill. She can't believe the actual bill is $125 and there are $60 worth of fees. How do you expect seniors to live? She lived in Chesterfield years ago and doesn't remember all of these charges at that time. It's ridiculous. |
P202300935 | 10/12/2022 3:32 PM | (co) Customer called stating she has MS. She doesn't tolerate heat real well at all. She isolates in the summer. Ameren has promoted keeping your thermostat at 78 degrees in the summer. She can't tolerate that. She's going to be miserable if she has to do that. She feels helpless. She's on a fixed income. It's a disaster. Nothing she can do about it. |
P202301120 | 11/28/2022 8:58 AM | No rate increase. |
P202301124 | 11/30/2022 2:13 PM | Ameren forcing change to "Smart Meter". If a customer wants to opt out, Ameren will charge $100 to install "non standard meter" and then charge $40 a month fee. There is no reason to change out working meters currently on the houses, which have worked for over 20 years. They are saying the company doesn't make them any more, which is fine, but the meter is still running on my house and does not need to be changed out. Please ensure that customers can keep their current meter. |
P202301134 | 12/12/2022 3:40 PM | Can we please stop allowing Ameren to further increase their rates on Missourian's who are already struggling to pay for the previous rate increases on gas and electric. See attached for full comments. |
P202301135 | 12/12/2022 6:35 PM | Case Number (ER-2022-0337). Ameren does not deserve a rate increase. The stockholder elected board of directors and top management have failed to keep up with environmental regulations. The stockholders and top management should be held accountable and the rate request rejected. |
P202301136 | 12/13/2022 8:22 AM | Ameren's rate increase is absurd. Realistically I can afford the increase but I know most people cannot afford it, especially when starting the increase in February (the coldest time of year)! It is unheard of and disrespectful. |
P202301137 | 12/13/2022 9:52 AM | I can't afford for Ameren to raise their rates. They're too expensive now. If they are raised people will be without electricity. |
P202301138 | 12/13/2022 9:44 PM | Missouri should be switching to clean, renewable energy and Ameren is continuing to use coal and other dirty fossil fuels. Why should we pay Ameren more to continue to pollute our state. We have no choice but to pay Ameren to be able to run our homes and they therefore have no incentive to save us money or use clean energy, even though it's what's best for every citizen. Do not improve the rate hike. |
P202301139 | 12/14/2022 11:33 AM | Case number (ER-2022-0337) Turn down Ameren Electric's request to raise base rates for everyone from $9 to $13/month. This hurts low income people most. Already, over 50,000 people have had electric turned off due to late payment. If you decide they truly deserve more money, not having overpaid their CEO & shareholders, the rates should be tiered so that people or industry who use more than a basic amount should pay a higher rate for that electricity. Those who can afford it would pay more. |
P202301142 | 12/15/2022 12:23 PM | I have worked for the state since 1999. I will retire in 2023. After so many years of being devoted to my job I am very aware that retirement will mean that I will have less money to live on. If our electric and gas bill go up as much as they are asking for, it will deplete my living budget for now and for when I retire. See attached for full comment. |
P202301144 | 12/15/2022 1:21 PM | I am disabled and on a fixed income and I can't keep handling these increases in the utility rates, especially with everything else going up. I would appreciate it if the commission would hold the line on Ameren and not grant them another rate increase, especially at this time of inflation and economic uncertainty. |
P202301145 | 12/15/2022 3:24 PM | (tb) Seth opposed to rate increase, because no willingness to have a hearing close to Kansas City. Also said giving them more money will leave less for him to put food on the table for his 3 children |
P202301147 | 12/15/2022 3:51 PM | This increase is absurd! 12% is a ridiculous amount. Current cost for operating is approx. 41 million and they say it will increase to 316 million. What does this additional 280 million go to? It's not going to benefit me. It's going to take food from my kids' mouths! I live 25 miles from the 2nd largest city in the state and there is no public hearing that I can attend. Ameren are crooks! |
P202301148 | 12/16/2022 7:38 AM | Re Case# ER-2022-0337 Please vote against Ameren's proposed rate increase. How much of it is to satisfy the stockholders, to make sure they get their dividends? With the not so distant past rate increases already given to Ameren, there is no need for this one. |
P202301149 | 12/16/2022 9:52 AM | (co) Customer called stating it's a monopoly. They can do what they want. Everybody has to pay it obviously. |
P202301150 | 12/17/2022 10:35 AM | On the electric rates increase I want it to be known that I am against any increase in electric rates the bills are why to high now you do have a great service to your customers but there does not need a rate increase and maybe there are to many over paid employees in the upper class |
P202301151 | 12/19/2022 10:32 AM | (tb) oppsed to to rate increase, they have several itmes on their bills to recover expenses. Thinks they don't need 11.5% increase |
P202301152 | 12/20/2022 10:37 AM | Increase in water and Ameren rates will financially harm middle class and seniors!! So much for Social Security increase!! I would hate to see the water company and Ameren's profits decrease!! |
P202301153 | 12/20/2022 10:42 AM | Would hate to see water company profits decrease!! It is so much better to have the middle class, lower income and seniors to have less money for basic needs!! |
P202301154 | 12/20/2022 11:54 AM | An 11.67% increase in Ameren MO rate is unacceptable. Our household is made up of husband & wife nearing 80 years old. We are affected greatly by inflation as well as the falling stock market which has caused a 30% decrease in our savings. We view this increase as step 1 with step 2 coming soon as Ameren implements rates based on time of day. We are retired and stay at home; we need to cool our house all day and the increased rates during the day will further increase our electric bill. |
P202301155 | 12/20/2022 12:47 PM | ER-2022-0337 Ameren Missouri is wasteful with the paying customers money! The corporate thought process of using all allotted funds in the budget before the end of the year or you will not get more money allocated needs to go away. They should be utilizing a zero-based budgeting (ZBB) system. Please require a zero-based budget of our utility companies. Stop this atrocity! |
P202301156 | 12/20/2022 12:58 PM | ER-2022-0337 Ameren Missouri is wasteful with the paying customers money! The corporate thought process of using all allotted funds in the budget before the end of the year or you will not get more money allocated needs to go away. They should be utilizing a zero-based budgeting (ZBB) system. Please require a zero-based budget of our utility companies. Stop this atrocity! |
P202301157 | 12/20/2022 3:42 PM | Ameren Missouri is wasteful with the paying customers money. Ameren should stop giving our money away to charities, and use it for the intended purpose. I have inside knowledge of Ameren facilities not being able to utilize their complete budget towards the end of the year, and management will call other Ameren facilities to see if they can help spend the money. ( See attached) |
P202301158 | 12/21/2022 3:26 PM | As a retired teacher, my Cost of living increase is never over 5% as that is the maximum allowed by PSRS. With a national cost of living being at 11+% and an 11+% on utilities I’m majorly concerned! As a nation overcome by greed I truly do wonder how those of us on a fixed income are expected to survive? I DO NOT AGREE WITH THE UTILITY INCREASE AMEREN IS REQUESTING! Im sure there are measures that can be taken to prevent this increase! |
P202301159 | 12/22/2022 9:40 AM | ER-2022-0337 concern for the raise by Ameren charges while with contaminated the Saint Charles, MO wells. This is to cost $1 million a month water to replace for at least 3 water process station. Money should be deducted for any customers for the required purchased for water. |
P202301160 | 12/22/2022 9:59 AM | Please do not allow Ameren to raise my electric bill. I am an 83 year old widow and live on a fixed income. Most everything in my life has gone up in cost. How can I and other seniors manage? The winter rate has already put a hardship on me and lots of my senior friends. |
P202301161 | 12/22/2022 10:02 AM | Do not increase the usage. Thank you. |
P202301162 | 12/22/2022 1:56 PM | ER-2022-0337 I can understand Ameren wanting a rate increase due to the cost of fuel. What I don't like is the Energy Efficiency Investment Charge. Remove that charge. That is just a charge that the state is allowing the utility to charge us for loss revenue they experience after they convince their customers to buy more efficient furnaces and air conditioners with rebates. I don't want to pay for the rebates. |
P202301163 | 12/22/2022 4:47 PM | Re: case # ER-2022-0337 I think this is high-thievery to increase a utility in times when every family is making decisions on whether to pay bills or put food on the table. AMEREN should be ashamed of themselves! But guess what...YOU will get what you want and the consumers will suffer! Its SICKENING! |
P202301164 | 12/23/2022 8:28 AM | The Union Electric Company is one of the most inefficient Utilities in the country who have been abusing Missouri consumers for years. Their management team is a greedy overpaid bunch of thieves who have constantly tried to over charge and under deliver. We suggest that you deny their rate request and force them to operate more effectively by eliminating their goofy solar plans and quit spending our money on management bonuses. (See attached) |
P202301165 | 12/23/2022 8:56 AM | see attached for comments |
P202301167 | 12/26/2022 11:59 AM | RE: Ameren's request to raise rates, my first question is where are the other 78.39% of the proposed rate increase going? I certainly understand increased fuel/purchase costs (11.61%), and some portion for inflation, but where is the lion's share going? All of us are in tough economic times, welcome to the party. 25% seems more than sufficient. Tighten your belt Ameren, like the rest of us. |
P202301170 | 12/27/2022 9:31 AM | I would appreciate it if you made the decision of not supporting the proposed 2023 rate hike that Ameren is requesting. Denial of the additional increase and holding Ameren more accountable to manage current excess funds will not only curb wasteful spending practices as well as reduce public financial burden. |
P202301173 | 12/27/2022 2:14 PM | As an Ameren retail customer I am writing to oppose the 11.64% rate increase. The Fuel Adjustment Clause is a pass through charge with no explanation. Ameren is an energy company and should be investing in efficiencies, solar, wind, and other technologies. The FAC is a money grab general rate increase without facts. How is the rate justified? Please reject this increase!! |
P202301175 | 12/27/2022 2:45 PM | (JP) "Ameren is going to offer to not shut off anyone's electricity during winter but after that we are going to have to pay for that and if we don't they will shut off our service. There are no venues for people who are poor here who can get help with their utility bills. The local CAA runs out of money after 1-2 days so people can't get help. I am a disabled senior citizen on social security. The raise in SSI was taken by the raise in other bills and inflation." |
P202301176 | 12/27/2022 3:28 PM | (co) Customer called stating any kind of raise right now is horrible for some of us. |
P202301177 | 12/27/2022 6:05 PM | I am an ameren missouri customer and have an inquiry about this rate change that is going to effect my household. it is to my undersanding in the letter that I recieved that our rates are going to increase. I would like to see a spreadsheet of where the funds are going to be applied to within amerens infrastructure. |
P202301178 | 12/27/2022 9:09 PM | The electric had a big increase! Fuel prices are dropping and electricity costs are rising? |
P202301180 | 12/28/2022 1:12 PM | I have had it. |
P202301181 | 12/28/2022 6:14 PM | Our utility bills have already seen a staggering increase in the last several years. Your increases are never enough for you. You need to start cutting costs by reducing executive pay drastically. Stop nickel and diming us. Your service never improves and outages are only getting longer and longer. Cut your pay, stop taking mine. |
P202301182 | 12/29/2022 8:10 AM | Please do not allow Ameren/union electric to have this increase. They do not deserve it. To allow them to make even more profit is NOT in the best interest of the consumers and WILL cause an even greater hardship for seniors. |
P202301183 | 12/29/2022 8:36 AM | ER-2022_0337 I don't Ameren should be allowed to increase rates overall while they continue to worry more about 'social justice' than providing environmentally friendly affordable energy to ALL of its customers, noy focusing on certain groups. I know corporate philanthropy is traditional, but they need to rein this activity in BEFOPRE they are granted any kind of increase. I work hard to pay my bills, why not everyone. I don't see any jobs programs. Thanks you! |
P202301184 | 12/29/2022 8:54 AM | (JP) "I am a senior citizen and recently got an SSI increase but an 11% utility increase will totally wipe that out. I think there should be a senior discount or something to help the seniors. This is just too much of a raise and I would vote 'no' on it if there is a public vote. I am totally against this. My electric and gas bills are already too high." |
P202301185 | 12/29/2022 10:36 AM | Please take into consideration not approving the rate request Ameren has proposed. As a small business owner times are tough enough as is, we do not need additional stresses put on us. May I suggest they try to look for other ways to generate revenue like reviewing payroll, maybe they have people "working" who really don't have tasks to do. Every time monies are needed it's the consumer that takes the brunt, we can only bear so much. Thank you for taking this email. |
P202301186 | 12/29/2022 10:38 AM | This is another gouge by Ameren and, seemingly, supported by the Missouri Public Service/Utility Commission. What a great time for another gouge when workers are out-of-work, cost rising for food, gasoline, medical bills, cost of housing, etc. Yet, Ameren and our state gov. commissions think another increase in electric bills for Missouri's citizens (taxpayers and voters) is acceptable. Disgusting and tiresome! (See attached) |
P202301187 | 12/29/2022 12:50 PM | (JP) "We're paying way too much now for what they've done to us. They try to make it look like we're using more when we aren't; they've just jacked up the prices. It is not on us, it's on them because they're screwing us. They are, they have been and they continue to. They don't care; they just try to make it look like it's us using more when we aren't. It's not on us, it's on them." |
P202301188 | 12/30/2022 8:30 AM | I am against the Ameren rate increase. I am a senior on a fixed income. I can't even afford what's going on now. |
P202301189 | 12/30/2022 10:38 AM | (co) Customer called stating he's just curious why there's no hearing in the south St. Louis County area, public meetings vs. virtual, and unsure why put forth since put millions in updated meters. |
P202301190 | 12/30/2022 1:25 PM | The Notice of Local Public Hearings references a proposal to increased fixed residential customer charges based on "Rate Plans" (such as Anytime User, Smart Savers, etc.), without any definition of those terms or explanation as to how a residential customer could switch between rate plans if they wanted to. Notice also says the proposal is to increase from a fixed "$9.00 per month" customer charge without definition of terms/explanation of how said charge appears on bill. Notice is insufficient |
P202301191 | 12/30/2022 3:30 PM | Please let it be known that I am speaking against the approval of the Ameren Missouri rate increase filed on 8/1/22. Missourians and small businesses are struggling to make ends meet, pay bills, medical, utilities, food, etc. Ameren Missouri is making wonderful record profits and they do NOT need to burden us anymore. Please say NO! Thank you. Nathan Chipley, Small Business Owner |
P202301192 | 12/31/2022 10:45 AM | If Ameren can advertise at Blues hockey games and every where else i will be against any rate increase. What other electrical provider can we go to? |
P202301193 | 12/31/2022 12:12 PM | The current proposed increase substantially exceeds the current rate of inflation and as such should be rejected. |
P202301194 | 1/1/2023 3:38 PM | RE: Case number ER-2022-0337 The language of Ameren's proposal is so convoluted I cannot decipher how much increase I'm looking at. There must be a better way to explain. |
P202301197 | 1/3/2023 8:20 AM | (JE) Judy called upset over Ameren asking for another rate increase. She is on budget billing & that keeps going up with the increase in rates. She is on a fixed income and cannot afford to keep getting rate increases when she doesn't get increases in her fixed income. She also thinks Ameren's CEO & others make enough money & profits already |
P202301198 | 1/3/2023 8:23 AM | (JE) Bonnie called regarding Ameren rate increase request. She opposes the increase & would like the PSC to deny the request. CEO & upper management already make enough money & profits. She also has reliability concerns & thinks Ameren should be fixing that versus asking for more increases in rates |
P202301199 | 1/3/2023 8:32 AM | (JE) Steve called after receiving Ameren's rate case notice. He opposes the increase & would like the PSC to deny the rate increase. Asking for an increase after inflation & COVID is something that the PSC should deny |
P202301200 | 1/3/2023 9:19 AM | Please let it be known that I am speaking against the approval of the Ameren Missouri rate increase filed on 8/1/22. Missourians and small businesses are struggling to make ends meet, pay bills, medical, utilities, food, etc. Ameren Missouri is making wonderful record profits and they do NOT need to burden us anymore. Please say NO! Thank you. Nathan Chipley, Small Business Owner. |
P202301201 | 1/3/2023 3:10 PM | (JE) A gentleman called regarding rate case letter he received. Wanted to file a public comment without providing name or other information. He opposes an increase & requests the PSC to deny any increase at all. They keep getting them every year it seems like & with inflation it is a bad time. They already make enough profits. |
P202301205 | 1/4/2023 12:29 AM | I am against any such rate increase. |
P202301206 | 1/4/2023 9:46 AM | I don't know if you guys realize or not but gas prices have increased, food cost has REALLY increased (cant afford produce or anything else other than bread), personal property tax has increased. EVERYTHING seems to be going up EXCEPT my income. Does America not understand what it's doing to itself by making life unaffordable? I vote no for the increase until I win the lottery. |
P202301208 | 1/4/2023 10:08 AM | (JP) "These people should be seeking any further rate increases. I just had a $60/month increase so I don't see why they need another one. They need to manager their own budget instead of wanting the people to pay more. |
P202301215 | 1/4/2023 1:56 PM | (tb) Robin is opposed to the rate increase. Everyone is being affected by the rising fuel cost, doesn't feel it should be passed along to the customer, Ameren should just make less profit. Because when the cost go down, Ameren will not decrease the rates |
P202301217 | 1/4/2023 2:40 PM | (JP) "As a senior on limited income, I think the rate is already too high and now they're wanting to increase more. I think the increase is excessive. I think the CEOs are earning way too much money & that money should be returned to rate holders. They advertise which is wasting money since they are our only choice. There are a lot of lights on at areas where Ameren operates when there is no need for the constant lighting. They should have a senior citizen rate. |
P202301218 | 1/5/2023 9:11 AM | (JE) Sharon called regarding receiving a letter/notice about Ameren's rate case. She is elderly & on a fixed income and cannot afford any rate increases. She would like the PSC to deny any increase in rates. |
P202301229 | 1/6/2023 8:37 AM | Please see attached |
P202301230 | 1/6/2023 9:22 AM | I am one hundred percent against this massive increase in my rates—11.61%, 11.64% and the FAC adjustment which equates, based on the information provided, $4/month, $12.28/month and $1.58/month for a total monthly increase of $17.86. My social security cola increase of 8.7% is far from what Ameren "thinks" they need (or want). Ameren does provide good service but these increases are out of line. (See attached) |
P202301237 | 1/6/2023 9:40 AM | I generally have a “free-market” philosophy when it comes to consumer issues. However, in this case Ameren is a monopoly with respect to providing my electricity which means I don’t have the ability to shop around. In cases such as this I believe consumers should not burdened for the benefit of shareholders. (See attached for full comment) |
P202301241 | 1/6/2023 10:29 AM | A 12-13 % Increase seems exorbitant. Perhaps a 2 percent increase would be more reasonable. I don't feel an increase, at this time, is in the best interest of the public. Please consider all of the senior citizens who are on a limited income. With everything increasing and our income not being increased, there is a breaking point where the cost of utilities will be more than our incomes. How could this possibly be in the best interest of the public? |
P202301243 | 1/6/2023 12:34 PM | See attached |
P202301248 | 1/6/2023 8:38 PM | Ameren rates are too high as it is! They should not have this monopoly power that they currently have over St. Louis. This must be broken up. and the rates must not be raised. additionally, fuel is their cost of business not our problem as consumers. You wouldn't go to McDonalds and pay separately for the burger patty or their gas bill for the grill. |
P202301249 | 1/6/2023 10:24 PM | NO RATE INCREASE |
P202301251 | 1/7/2023 7:11 AM | Case number EE-2022-0337 Ameren's estimated rate increases are misleading. Two people live in our residence. For 2022 our electric bills totaled $1,835. Fixed fee increases will add $156 and an 11.64% rate increase will add $214. This is a 20% total increase. Ameren should show the PSC the real impact; not a 1,017 kilowatt hour estimate.PSC should vote 'No' to the misrepresenting Ameren! |
P202301259 | 1/7/2023 2:41 PM | A LOT OF PATRON MONEY IS SPENT when public utilities hold hearings to justify rate hikes - JUST AN OBSERVATION. I suggest AMEREN and all utility companies to consider restructuring its public entity and becoming a COOP. It's a "WIN-WIN" situation for your patrons and YOU! If Cuivre River can do it, so can YOU. It's always nice to get a little something in the mail from time to time. Thank you. |
P202301260 | 1/7/2023 6:57 PM | In reference to case number ER-2022-0337, Ameren Missouri Request for Rate Increase, I respectfully ask that this request be denied. I see no necessity for a rate increase. Based what I could find, Ameren recorded a $990 million net income in 2021, which was ~15% of revenue. For the first 9 months of 2022, they have posted $911 million in profit, more than 90% of the profit for all of last year. Simply put, they do not need an increase, and they are asking for 11% + $4 extra customer charge |

P202301281 | 1/9/2023 2:59 PM | I don't see how this would be in the public's interest. The way our economy is right now, there is no just reason for an increase at this time. |
P202301282 | 1/9/2023 3:59 PM | As a senior citizen, I am highly concerned about this rate increase request from Ameren. We seniors can't do it. 11 % increase is just too much. We all know that Ameren asks for more than what they expect to get, but I am concerned the amount that the PSC approves is still going to be too high for us seniors. Could it be that Ameren execs are paid too much? Take it from them and give seniors a discount. This is an unjust monopoly! Please don't allow this. |
P202301285 | 1/10/2023 8:11 AM | (co) Customer called stating he's opposed to it. In general piling on the customer, it becomes fashionable for everybody to increase their costs to people. He's not sure everyone's being physically responsible. It's easier to ask for more money. He's a retired senior on a fixed income. The few times they were out nothing but nice. They got their right a way. He wishes someone would tighten their belts up and make ends meet with what we have. |
P202301286 | 1/10/2023 8:54 AM | Even as an Ameren Missouri stockholder, I am asking the Public Service Commision to live up to its name and actually serve the public by declining Ameren's rate increase request. These are hard times for many people and they have no choice when it comes to electricity providers. Please also serve the public by denying a rate increase to Missouri American Water. |
P202301287 | 1/10/2023 8:57 AM | Even as an Ameren Missouri stockholder, I am asking the Public Service Commision to live up to its name and actually serve the public by declining Ameren's rate increase request. These are hard times for many people and they have no choice when it comes to electricity providers. Please also serve the public by denying a rate increase to Missouri American Water. |
P202301289 | 1/10/2023 9:21 AM | (co) Customer called stating she objects. She's a senior citizen. Everything's going up. It's really hard to make it. She's tried to get help (CMCA), but they're so back logged they don't even answer their phone anymore. |
P202301297 | 1/10/2023 11:43 AM | I am a senior citizen on social security. Ameren wants a 11.64 percent hike on the rates. We cannot afford such an increase. The cost of health insurance, food, gasoline and utilities keeps rising at an ever increasing rate. Please limit the raise to a reasonable amount. The citizens of Missouri are counting on you to help. |
P202301298 | 1/10/2023 3:09 PM | I understand Ameren is asking for a rate increase. See attached for full comment |
P202301300 | 1/10/2023 4:07 PM | On behalf of the signatories in the attached document, we urge you to scrutinize two aspects of Ameren’s currently pending request to increase electric rates. We ask that this letter be filed in Docket ER-2022-0337 as a public comment. |
P202301301 | 1/10/2023 4:27 PM | (JP) "Is this going to be the common practice of raising price of gas and oil instead of being more versatile like implementing more solar farms or going geothermal instead and reducing the cost of energy. We're using the same power and using more for it." |
P202301302 | 1/10/2023 9:29 PM | I am opposed to Ameren Missouri's proposed rate increase for electricity. The Missouri Public Service Commission authorized a rate increase for Ameren Missouri approximately two years ago. I am retired and live on a fixed income and cannot afford to pay an additional annual increase of 11.64%. Ameren is not implementing a clean energy strategy and still demands on coal plants. Missouri has a high rate of asthma and other chronic respiratory diseases caused by dirty air. |
P202301304 | 1/11/2023 8:29 AM | I understand Ameren is asking for a rate increase. First lets look at one of their monthly bills. I recently got a bill for a property I own and here is the breakdown of that bill. Actual electrical usage 125.50, actual gas usage 54.94, electrical customer charge 21.86, gas customer charge 30.33, fuel adjustimate charge 4.00, purchase gas adjustment ( pipeline charge) 160.04, energy efficiency charge 5.00, Missouri state sales tax 16.94... (See attached) |
P202301305 | 1/11/2023 10:41 AM | How can Ameren, who made 5.138 BILLION in profit, ask for an increase in rates at this point in our economy. This is extremely detremental to the public interest. How can they try to ask for this. It is Ludacris. |
P202301306 | 1/11/2023 11:11 AM | Ameren should NOT be allowed to raise rates on Missouri residents for another year after posting a nearly $1B profit in 2021 from their last rate hike. Hard working citizens are being overcharged for a basic necessity only because Ameren wants to line the pockets of their executives. It should be a crime to raise rates when they are raking in millions of dollars in profit. |
P202301307 | 1/11/2023 11:31 AM | (co) Customer called stating she's a senior. The majority of seniors live on a meager income. Everything's going up sure they understand but the amount they want is ridiculous. She's against it. |
P202301308 | 1/11/2023 1:13 PM | I am totally against an increase in Ameren's rates. I am a senior citizen and a veteran. I don't know how much longer we can hold on with all of these increases the past few years. |
P202301309 | 1/11/2023 2:14 PM | see attached |
P202301312 | 1/11/2023 2:26 PM | see attached |
P202301314 | 1/11/2023 2:37 PM | see attached |
P202301315 | 1/11/2023 2:42 PM | (JP) "We do not want any rate increases for the electric bill. We are senior citizens and can't afford food or anything else already. They are bleeding us dry. No rate increases." |
P202301316 | 1/11/2023 3:34 PM | I am absolutely against an Ameren rate hike. why can the utility companies continually ask for rate hikes. if they are not allowed or only allowed a portion then they wait a few months and ask another one. over 400 million this time? Please.. the utility companies are out of control, MPSC needs to keep them inline. all of the utility companies are asking for rate hikes in 2023 and my monthly utility bills could go up as much as $55. a month or more, this is ridiculous. PLEASE HELP ALL OF US |
P202301317 | 1/12/2023 9:58 AM | Ameren's proposed electric rate hikes. I am against a rate hike due to the current status of the economy and high inflation rates. The basic cost of living, groceries, goods, gas have adversely affected citizens of Missouri. Reports state that Ameren's full-year profits rose 13.5%, or $118 million, to $995 million compared to last year, and revenue jumped 10.3% or $600 million to $6.39 billion. Therefore, instead of passing increased costs to consumers, use of their own profits makes sense. |
P202301318 | 1/12/2023 10:49 AM | See Attached |
P202301320 | 1/12/2023 10:58 AM | (co) Customer called stating she's on social security. It's getting to the point she can't even hardly pay her bill. Her pay isn't going up. This is ridiculous. |
P202301321 | 1/12/2023 2:08 PM | (co) Customer called stating he's on a fixed income. He gets help with his electric bill through LIHEAP. Even with that he doesn't know if he can. He asked what they're supposed to do. He feels like it's used a springboard to increase their profits. |
P202301322 | 1/13/2023 7:57 AM | In the piece of information from Ameren it says Ameren filed a general rate increase designed to increase Ameren. Missouri's annual gross revenues from its Missouri electric retail customers by about $31`6 million - About $40.76 million of that annual increase in fuel etc ---SO WHAT is the rest needed for? Corporate officers increase in salary.? |
P202301326 | 1/13/2023 11:05 AM | Dear Sir, regards Ameren's rate increase request. I am a residential customer who used 3,625 kWH of electricity last mo. 1. Why would Ameren need $275.24 mil. rate increase for non fuel reasons? Total request is $316 mil, but only $40.76 mil is for increased fuel costs. 2. Ameren filed request 8/1/22. Havn't fuel prices declined since then? 3. I used 3,625 kWh last mo. Ameren uses a ridiculous low 1,017 kWh usage amount in their comparisons for only a $147.43/mo increase. I vote no |
P202301328 | 1/13/2023 12:39 PM | Proposed "fixed residential customer charge" is a 44% increase (from $9 to $13). I have solar and therefore don't have the option of any rate plan other than "anytime user". Under this proposed plan my monthly bill will be 44% higher than historic for approximately 6 months of the year. Also, with the other proposed rate increases, will I also see a comparable increase (above current 2.8 cents) in the rate I am paid/credited for overproduction and putting power back onto the grid for Ameren? |
P202301332 | 1/14/2023 6:34 PM | I'm quite upset to see info on the huge rate increase proposed by Ameren Missouri. If I'm reading the notice correctly, their costs have gone up $40.76 M, but they're proposing raising rates by $316M AND they already have a Fuel Adjustment Clause. Our economy and we seniors ABSOLUTELY cannot afford these inflationary rates. Our increased Social Security can't cover the inflated gas and electric increases, much less food, gasoline and other costs. PLEASE deny this outrageous proposal. |
P202301333 | 1/15/2023 10:50 AM | As A senior citizen there is no way I can afford this huge rate increase! I have done all suggested options to keep my bill low. My heat is set to 57 sometimes 60 so yes I am cold! In summer thermostat is set to 79 which is only cool enough if I don’t do household chores. Ameren Missouri is being greedy. |
P202301334 | 1/15/2023 12:49 PM | Case # ER-2022-0337 I'm unable to attend any meetings and want to bring my concerns to your attention for consideration. To me it looks like Ameren is requesting to increase their profits. I'm sure they already make millions in profits every year and now they want almost 12% more. My summer bills are over $200/ mo. already with 2 months last year at $300. These rates are already high! Don't let them charge us more. Please! People can't afford this. |
P202301335 | 1/16/2023 8:56 AM | Last years rate increase crippled family’s all across the ameren power grid and another this soon would be devastating for Missouri. My electric bill alone went from $200 per month to over $600. Local electric coop’s aren’t charging these kind of rates and ameren shouldn’t be allowed to either. I would like to see local cooks take over for each area ameren services. |
P202301337 | 1/17/2023 10:45 AM | I am writing about Ameren Missouri and their proposed 11.64% rate hike. Inflation has wiped out my paycheck already with gas (to get to and from work) and (food necessities) grocery prices. I have not had to buy new clothes for a couple of years now thank goodness. Vacations are a thing of the past that I may never have again. (See attached) |
P202301340 | 1/17/2023 11:25 AM | I am begging you to deny the rate increase request from Duckett Creek, MO American Water and Ameren electric. I have received notices from ALL 3 wanting to increase rates. When is it going to stop. (See attached) |
P202301341 | 1/17/2023 11:26 AM | Please do everything you can to reduce or maintain the current rates for energy in the State under Ameren control. I saw an article on this and hope that you can keep us from being priced out too much in our own state. https://www.kirksvilledailyexpress.com/stories/ameren-missouri-seeks-a-more-than-double-rate-increase,7484#:~:text=EO%2D2023%2D%200182).,effect%20on%20February%201%2C%202023. |

P202301345 | 1/17/2023 11:44 AM | I am writing about Ameren Missouri and their proposed 11.64% rate hike. See attached for full comments. |
P202301346 | 1/17/2023 11:51 AM | I am begging you to deny the rate increase request from Duckett Creek, MO American Water and Ameren electric. I have received notices from ALL 3 wanting to increase rates. When is it going to stop. See attached for full comments. |
P202301349 | 1/17/2023 1:41 PM | (co) Customer called stating she's barely making her bill payments now. She's on a fixed income. She's a senior citizen. It's just her. She has mortgage on her home and everything. She's not rich. She doesn't have the money. It doesn't make sense. They have enough money to do these changes. |
P202301350 | 1/17/2023 3:10 PM | I understand that Ameren needs to ask for an increase, but the amount they are asking for is too much for people to afford. Especially those of use on limited incomes. Please consider not giving them near what they are asking for. The majority of consumer cannot afford this new amount. |
P202301351 | 1/18/2023 8:30 AM | (JE) Mary called regarding Ameren Missouri rate case. She opposes the increase and is asking the PSC to deny the entire rate increase. Inflation & costs of living continue to go up while Ameren executives make record salaries & profits. She feels like Ameren's executives can reduce their salaries & cut costs & not make others pay for increases |
P202301352 | 1/18/2023 8:36 AM | (JE) Charlotte called regarding Ameren Missouri's rate case. She opposes the increase & would like PSC to deny the increase. She is on a fixed income & cannot afford another increase. Inflation is already bad enough. |
P202301357 | 1/18/2023 12:21 PM | ER-2022-0337. Ameren may not charge for work in progress. No rate increase should be allowed for solar operation, which is far cheaper than coal plants. Ameren should stop buying 3 trainloads of Wyoming coal daily and retire all coal plants quickly. Then rates could decrease. The current proposed increase is far above the inflation rate and the increase in social security. |
P202301358 | 1/18/2023 12:22 PM | File No: ER-2022-0337 A fixed fee will unfairly impact the energy burden for low income, fixed income, and minority communities. The Public Service Commission should consider a modified rate for individuals with a greater energy burden, and Ameren should improve their public outreach regarding energy efficiency and assistance programs that can help their lower income customers. Ameren must also work to control their costs, embrace renewables, and become more efficient. |
P202301365 | 1/19/2023 11:11 AM | I am opposed to the rate increase. Ameren makes enough money. People are tired of being charged so much. Now we pay for their fuel costs when no one pays for our fuel costs. They don't deserve a rate increase. People are hurting! |
P202301367 | 1/20/2023 8:11 AM | In regards to ER-2022-0337, the profit margin requested by Ameren is way above the quoted costs the company is asking to recoup based on projected company "needs." Business is business, but I'm asking the Missouri Public Commission to have a heart and look out for everyday people over corporate price gouging. This projected rate increase is monstrous in scale in terms of affecting those at the low end of the totem pole....which is most of us. Please deny this request. |
P202301368 | 1/20/2023 8:54 AM | I believe Ameren Missouri and the PSC held hearings for Ameren's last "rate increase' in October 2021 and some kind of rate increase went into effect in 2022. Here we go again. But that is the way the monopolistic energy companies operate. Proposing another increase so soon after the last one is granted. (see attached PDF) |
P202301369 | 1/20/2023 3:28 PM | I am against the proposed Ameren rate hike. They have closed one power plant and one more is set to close, saving how much in payroll. So if they are buying power to offset what they are not producing I don’t think they are getting a good deal. As the fuel charge they do not come out and read meters anymore so that is a huge saving. And they are a electric company. Why are they not driving electric vehicles. Thank you for your time, |
P202301376 | 1/23/2023 8:25 AM | In reference to Ameren Missouri’s request to increase annual gross revenues (ER-2022-0337), Any increase in Ameren’s fuel and purchased power costs that does not correspond with an increase in renewable energy usage (wind, solar, and the like) should be summarily and wholly rejected. Ameren did not indicate this in their letter to paying customers, which is in itself an unfortunate oversight. |
P202301377 | 1/23/2023 8:50 AM | I write as a concerned Ameren user on the proposed rate increase you will be voting on that Ameren has made us aware of. I urge you not to vote for a rate increase. I work in the insurance industry and do understand that inflation has caused everyone in business to have to find ways to cover those increased costs, and one way that is done is via rate increases. (See attached) |
P202301388 | 1/23/2023 3:46 PM | see attached |
P202301389 | 1/23/2023 4:48 PM | (tb) Mark is opposed to rate increase because they don't use money out of their own pockets, they use everyone else's money. With inflation, he doesn't understand why Ameren is taking it from the poor people with a rate increase instead of the CEO and rich people. |
P202301396 | 1/24/2023 11:47 AM | Please oppose the regressive Ameren increase for people of limited resources. Instead, implement a fairer plan and also advise people who have limited assets about ways to pay for their utilities. |
P202301401 | 1/25/2023 9:19 AM | This is a ridiculous increase. Does this have anything to do with the big increase in social security benefits that seniors are getting? Amerens profit as of Sept. 2022 was 5.13B. BILLION. Which is %9.51 increase from the year before. Now they want an over %11 increase. This is going to hurt a loot of people on fixed incomes. |
P202301403 | 1/25/2023 9:23 AM | see attached |
P202301436 | 1/27/2023 10:26 AM | See Attached |
P202301437 | 1/27/2023 10:28 AM | See Attached |
P202301439 | 1/27/2023 4:45 PM | I am opposed to the proposed $316 million increase in electric rates by Ameren MO. Although the cost, estimated at about $12 per customer monthly, sounds innocent enough, Ameren has had a series of increases over the years. Given the general state of the economy, and understanding the costs for everything has generally risen, I fully believe an increase at this time would be detrimental to Missourians, and especially those in lower and middle-class homes, plus small businesses. Thank you! |
P202301451 | 1/30/2023 11:39 AM | (tb) Ms. Singer is opposed to the rate increase senior's have lost all of the increases they received from ss due all of the utility increases & grocery cost increases |
P202301454 | 1/30/2023 1:21 PM | On behalf of the League of Women Voters of Metro St. Louis, we urge you to scrutinize aspects of Ameren’s currently pending request to increase electric rates. We ask that this letter be filed in Docket ER-2022-0337 as a public comment. The Missouri Public Service Commission (MPSC) regulates investor-owned electric, natural gas, steam, water and sewer utilities in Missouri. (See attached) |
P202301456 | 1/31/2023 12:53 PM | See attached |
P202301460 | 1/31/2023 3:08 PM | Ameren does not deserve a rate increase. Solar and wind are cheaper than coal. Poor mgt. decisions at Ameren locked in coal generation. A forward looking elec. utility in Iowa is generating around 50% of its needs with wind. If Ameren was forward looking we might be looking at a rate decrease AND cleaner air. Cheating on environmental regs. at Rush Island is another example of bad decisions. The board of directors has seemingly glossed over this. Ameren does not deserve a rate increase |
P202301461 | 1/31/2023 7:42 PM | In reference to the Ameren fuel adjustment increase request to be discussed February 1, 2023 6:00 p.m. Jefferson City , MO. It is requested Ameren be denied since they already charge a fuel adjustment o 5.95 each moth to their customers. Let it be known the customers don not receive a rate adjustment for the rise in fuel cost at the pump. |
P202301462 | 2/1/2023 8:20 AM | I am totally against any increase amount. I am already paying 185.00 a month. An additional 13.00 would be 198.00 I could not afford this amount, especially with how everything is going up. Please do not approve this. Ameren asks for increase all the time and are approved. |
P202301466 | 2/1/2023 11:35 AM | I am opposed to the proposed regressive rate increase. This impacts low usage and low income customers just as much as high usage and high income users. Please be aware of our lower income neighbors in designing your rate plans. |
P202301468 | 2/1/2023 11:45 AM | Ameren should not be allowed to increase their revenues by $316 million when only $40.76 million is needed to cover increasing costs of fuel and purchased power costs. What is the justification for that other $275 million in revenues? Ameren is the only gas and electric provider in my area, so if they're approved for this 600% increase in revenues they're taking direct advantage of their customers for no reason. Case ER-2022-0337 |
P202301469 | 2/1/2023 11:50 AM | (tb) Bernie opposed to rate increase, they were up 20% last year and don't need more |
P202301470 | 2/1/2023 12:11 PM | It is time to consider the hardship and burdens caused by continual increases in rates, not only for utilities (and soon water) and fuel but obviously food and other basic items. No one contests the quality of UE service and response and while I comprehend the necessity of constant upgrades to the infrastructure, i question the timing and immediate necessity and wonder if there are other areas expenditures and expenses could be reduced to offset another rate hike. |
P202301474 | 2/2/2023 1:56 PM | The MPC should not approve Ameren rate increases. Customers do not have the ability to "shop" for electric service due to Ameren being the only provider in the area. There is no competition, and the customers are just at the mercy of Ameren. This is the worst time for something like this. Inflation at an all time high, people are struggling, and working to make bills. This isn't going to help. Is the MPSC going to give Ameren a blank check to increase it's shareholders profits? |

P202301481 | 2/3/2023 3:42 PM | It is unconscionable that Ameren is requesting a rate hike as they continue to act illegally to pollute our air. Federal appellate judges unanimously agreed in 2021 that Ameren violated the Clean Air Act when the Rush Island plant was modified without installing air pollution controls. A state law passed in 2021 allow Ameren to retire its coal plants faster and invest in clean energy while saving money. A fixed rate is a blatant abuse of Ameren’s monopoly control. |
P202301482 | 2/4/2023 12:30 PM | I am very much against another rate hike. What normally happens in a business, when management doesn't run well, management is replaced. Amern officials have know for a long time that coal was going to be fazed out. We should not have to pay for managements lack of responsible action. We already pay for infrastructure, residential fees plus numerous taxes, enough is enough. Call a holt to this type of management. |
P202301492 | 2/5/2023 7:48 AM | Ameren Missouri is proposing a rate increase. This comes at a time when all Missourians are struggling to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. Ameren says the increase will cover billions of dollars recently invested in electric grid upgrades and new wind generation facilities. When that work was proposed, Ameren told the public it would decrease the cost of electricity. Missouri did not ask for those "improvements" and we should not be expected to pay for them either. |
P202301504 | 2/6/2023 11:43 AM | Do NOT grant the rate increase regarding the Labadie coal electric generating plant. I'd prefer to CLOSE the LaBadie Ameren Coal electric generating plant. The CO2 pollution is excessive and needs to be stopped. I see information that it would have been cheaper for Ameren to purchase electricity from the market place than generate electricity from the LaBadie plant. |
P202301516 | 2/6/2023 8:44 PM | As a residential customer I hereby oppose the proposed rate increase, for several reasons. Please see attachment. |

P202301537 | 2/7/2023 11:42 AM | This is an unfair and regressive - yet another poverty tax. I am really tired of this system. Tax the rich and give the working class a break. |

P202301544 | 2/7/2023 12:25 PM | The utility companies in MO should recognize that their profits are not more important than taking action to decrease our fossil fuel usage. It is shameful that the poorest among us are paying a larger share of their income for this. |
P202301545 | 2/7/2023 12:26 PM | I respectfully submit this comment letter about Ameren Missouri’s proposed rate increase, including the fixed fee increase from $9 to $13. |
P202301546 | 2/7/2023 12:27 PM | No more fossil fuels. Clean energy only. How many times do we need to reiterate this concept? |
P202301547 | 2/7/2023 12:28 PM | I can’t afford a higher electric bill |
P202301548 | 2/7/2023 12:30 PM | Ameren needs to focus their time on cleaning up our drinking water they’ve spilled chemicals on and not raise rates again for no reason. It is absurd. |

P202301558 | 2/7/2023 12:43 PM | Please do not allow rate and fee increases. I know it's a hard blow for the CEOs etc but maybe they can pass on a raise in their salary- us common folk are lucky to get a minimal increase annually. And please stop burning coal and take some of the money we pay you to invest in renewable sources of energy. Also get rid of net metering - I shouldn't have to sell the energy my system produces to you for 2-3 cents only to buy back at the higher rate. That's the most ridiculous thing I've heard. |
P202301559 | 2/7/2023 12:44 PM | I'm on a fixed income I cannot afford to pay |
P202301560 | 2/7/2023 12:44 PM | Greed, makes it hard on the average income families..it has to stop!! AMEREN has us paying about triple,on our electric bill..It has to STOP!! |

P202301562 | 2/7/2023 12:47 PM | I try to conserve electricity and sometimes have very low bills for my power consumption. The part of our bill which is fixed, adds an unavoidable monthly charge to those of us who try to cut our usage for either environmental or financial reasons. |
P202301563 | 2/7/2023 12:47 PM | I respectfully submit this comment letter about Ameren Missouri’s proposed rate increase, including the fixed fee increase from $9 to $13. |
P202301564 | 2/7/2023 12:48 PM | I'm appalled that Ameren would propose this rate hike when they have recorded recorded profits, as have most energy companies, there is no reason to allow this. Especially when they refuse to make any meaningful investment in cleaner sources of energy like neuclear, wind, solar, and geothermal. It's the job of regulators to prevent this gross misuse of their company's customers, and I sincerely hope that you do. |

P202301572 | 2/7/2023 12:55 PM | I respectfully submit this comment letter about Ameren Missouri’s proposed rate increase, including the fixed fee increase from $9 to $13. |
P202301573 | 2/7/2023 12:56 PM | I am particularly very concerned about Ameren‘s continued use of coal power plants. They should really spend more money on renewable energy sources. This is shortsighted thanking by Ameren. |

P202301576 | 2/7/2023 12:58 PM | I am a minister of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and am concerned about the effect of this increase on our elderly members and that it supports coal-fired plants instead of looking to the future and renewed energy. This raise will be a hardship for senior citizens in the State. Please reconsider! |

P202301584 | 2/7/2023 1:46 PM | Grace United Methodist Church St Louis (Grace UMC), urge you to scrutinize aspects of Ameren’s currently pending request to increase electric rates. We ask that this letter be filed in Docket ER-2022-0337 as a public comment. The Missouri Public Service Commission (MPSC) regulates investor-owned electric, natural gas, steam, water and sewer utilities in Missouri. Grace thanks the MPSC for allowing the Public Comment for Ameren’s Proposed Electric Rate Hike (Docket No. ER-2022-0337). |

P202301594 | 2/7/2023 4:12 PM | We have at A Red Circle seen personally the struggles our neighbors are having keeping up with expenses and avoiding eviction. We cannot allow utility companies to profit off of our neighbor’s’ suffering, and utilities need to be a public service that all people are able to use because they are necessary for survival and connection in the modern age. To further add to our communities’ burden is unacceptable, and we object it. |
P202301595 | 2/7/2023 4:13 PM | I respectfully submit this comment letter about Ameren Missouri’s proposed rate increase, including the fixed fee increase from $9 to $13. |
P202301596 | 2/7/2023 4:14 PM | Having a fixed rate it unfair. We are told to conserve resources and now when we do we are hit with a fixed fee amount. So much for trying to save. We need to stop this before it begins. No fixed fee attached to our bills! |
P202301597 | 2/7/2023 4:15 PM | There are already many people who cannot pay their electric bill. Even a small amount makes a huge difference. |

P202301627 | 2/8/2023 8:37 AM | Electricity is NOT an option. It is needed for warmth, cooling, cooking and light - the basics of living. P202301666 | 2/8/2023 10:03 AM | Please accelerate movement away from dirty fossil fuels, towards cleaner, healthier energy; please do this for all Missourians as well as stressed flora & fauna in our region. This transition can be accomplished in an economically feasible way without raising families' energy bills. |
P202301667 | 2/8/2023 10:04 AM | The proposed increase hurts the most vulnerable. Continued use of coal is not the answer when renewable energy should be pursued more. |
P202301668 | 2/8/2023 10:05 AM | I feel Ameren has a large enough profit and does not need more. They have not shown they are a responsible citizen. They still pollute in excess and have made no significant process toward using clean energy. Instead they just pocket existing profits. |

P202301677 | 2/8/2023 10:13 AM | In addition to the fixed rate regress9ve rate proposal, Ameren has increased the cost of community solar to doubled the cost of their base rate, a huge increase from the first offering of electricity from their solar farm. We need to keep renewable energy costs competitive and not to make more profit. |
P202301678 | 2/8/2023 10:13 AM | I respectfully submit this comment letter about Ameren Missouri’s proposed rate increase, including the fixed fee increase from $9 to $13. |
P202301679 | 2/8/2023 10:14 AM | When does it stop? A $12.00 average increase may seem small but multiply it by how many bills, trips to the doctor, grocery and more that a family faces each month. Why doesn't someone give the bill payer a $12.00 reward for payments on time or reducing utility usage? Thank you. |
P202301680 | 2/8/2023 10:15 AM | Lower rates no increases, People have a right to not be burden by rates that are not fair. |

P202301686 | 2/8/2023 10:22 AM | Ameren has plans to move away from coal, which is the right direction, but I encourage you to use the new securitization law to switch to renewables now and lower your operating costs. Then you would not need to raise our rates. |
P202301687 | 2/8/2023 10:23 AM | Raising rates at this difficult time of inflation is a massive blow to Missourians who already may be struggling. Ameren is doing just fine without the rate increase. I implore you to not allow this rate increase to happen. |
P202301688 | 2/8/2023 10:24 AM | Convert to clean energy and stop placing barriers to homeowner solar projects. It’s disgraceful that we continue to operate coal fired power plants with no emissions controls in 2023. |

P202301700 | 2/8/2023 10:31 AM | FIND ANOTHER ENERGY SOURCE!!! Coal must be retired. Any plan to increase rates must be advanced by a bonified, structured methodology for utilizing renewable energy and for reeducating coal workers to adjust to such valued change. |
P202301701 | 2/8/2023 10:32 AM | I am completely against raising any fixed fees to a company that has a monopoly on energy. Oh and I am a registered voter who votes every cycle including local elections. |

P202301707 | 2/8/2023 10:39 AM | It is already beyond challenging to make ends meet in our world right now. My wife is disabled and suffers from many very serious and complicated medical conditions. Due to all her special needs, we have to spend a fortune on special products she can tolerate. As you know the price of everything has sky-rocketed. Now is NOT the time to raise our rates. I am also concerned about our environment and the impact of toxins in it. |

P202301714 | 2/8/2023 10:45 AM | It’s not $12. For me it’s about double that and I live in a condo. Look at the kw that it’s based on. That’s a low average and I think it’s deceiving. Please stop this rate increase. |
P202301715 | 2/8/2023 10:46 AM | As it is I am a widow on fixed income and I do budget billing . I can’t keep taking on more bills each month. |
P202301716 | 2/8/2023 10:47 AM | ’m on disability. I can’t pay more for nothing in return. Please consider saying no to this big money corporation who just gets richer. |

P202301719 | 2/8/2023 10:49 AM | Many people can barely afford to pay existing utility bills, much less absorb a large rate hike. Our family has been seriously working on saving energy for a long time, investing in LED lights, turning off electric lights and computers when not in use, etc. These fixed fees are not a solution and are inequitable in the extreme. |
P202301720 | 2/8/2023 10:50 AM | People in St. Louis have been hit with higher costs for almost everything for a year now & many, including myself saw property taxes double. The middle class can’t afford a rate increase from Ameren on top of everything else. We ask that you withdraw this rate increase. |

P202301737 | 2/8/2023 11:04 AM | I am against this proposed increase for several reasons. There are already too many struggling to pay for adequate housing and utilities. Ameren is already profitable. I already voluntarily agreed to pay extra on my billing for Ameren's supposed transition to increase renewable energy. There are already initiatives to assist some people in paying this utility. There will just be an additional request for MORE people to support those initiatives due to increase. This isn't right. |
P202301738 | 2/8/2023 11:10 AM | This is another hike to pay for something they should pay for out of their profits. |

P202301747 | 2/8/2023 11:23 AM | My concern is: what are you trying to accomplish with the extra monies you will be taking from us consumers? Right now you continue to use 'way too much coal', which DOES harm our environment, AND, our people, especially our children. I thought you were pushing solar energy, and wind power too? More money to cause MORE human suffering from illnesses related to YOUR pollution; NO THANKS! |
P202301748 | 2/8/2023 11:24 AM | Please consider the impact on me as a fixed income/ retiree. I respectfully submit this comment letter about Ameren Missouri’s proposed rate increase, including the fixed fee increase from $9 to $13. Nearly three years of economic uncertainty caused by the pandemic has made it extremely difficult for low-income and working-class Missourians to make ends meet. |

P202301751 | 2/8/2023 11:27 AM | This rate hike will delay retirement of coal plants, that are killing people, other animals, and plant, and despoiling the ecosystem. |
P202301752 | 2/8/2023 11:27 AM | I am retired and on a set income raising the rates will cause me a hardship. I, also , have my handicapped grandson living with me and would be causing a hardship as well. |
P202301753 | 2/8/2023 11:28 AM | It matters because it's coming out of my pocket. I say Hell No! |

These proposed fix fee increases unfairly burdens the most vulnerable people. The dirty coal used by Amerenue is another harm done to its customers. Please recognize these issues and stop rate increases by Amerenue. Respectfully, Marie Andel" |

P202301766 | 2/8/2023 11:43 AM | Stop corporate America from price gouging. Gas prices are still high while oil companies continue to have record profits while paying very little in taxes. Ameren maybe should look at NOT using coal. |
P202301767 | 2/8/2023 11:44 AM | Because I’m a single mother with low income and I care about my environment. And we all need a break from all these prices going up can’t hardly afford anything now |

P202301772 | 2/8/2023 11:47 AM | Given the economy, this is not the time to increase unnecessary fees. |
P202301773 | 2/8/2023 11:48 AM | Everyone must do their part to help slow down climate change, it's already happening at a faster rate than expected. Big companies are big offenders and we need Ameren to focus on cleaner, renewable options, for the sake of every living thing on this planet. We need to care for Mother Earth, she's hurting and that in turn hurts us all. Please think of what the future holds for our future generations and do the right thing, this is serious business. |
P202301774 | 2/8/2023 11:49 AM | Ameren needs to move to investing in clean energy such as wind and solar, not fossil fuels. |

So many in rural communities are already struggling to pay bills, buy food and get gas for their cars to drive to work. Our local food pantry continues to see increasing numbers of clients who are food insecure. We need time to regroup and recover from COVID crisis and inflation pressures. |

P202301784 | 2/8/2023 11:57 AM | Your service is too expensive for coal. I could justify this increase if you were investing in green energy technology. This increase feels like it is only to benefit the stakeholders. Let's see a plan for moving away from coal. |

P202301786 | 2/8/2023 12:00 PM | "I am a customer that turns down/up the thermostat, as the seasons change to try to save money and to conserve on fuel. It’s continues to become more difficult to maintain these practices when our supplier,Ameren is NOT doing the same practices as much as possible. |
P202301787 | 2/8/2023 12:01 PM | I cannot afford to keep having the rates raised and it’s time we use alternative energy sources for electricity. |
P202301788 | 2/8/2023 12:02 PM | My husband and I are retired living on a fixed income and we do not agree with this increase. We see no reason for Ameren to ask for an increase when their net worth increased to $990 million in 2021 which was $119 million over 2020. Additionally, we do not support Ameren Missouri's violation of the Clean Air Act and the wasting of our hard earned money on dirty coal, which also harms our health and destroys our natural resources instead of using clean, renewable energy. |

P202301824 | 2/8/2023 12:32 PM | We understand the need for profit in your business but you are a monopoly. This gives you an unfair advantage. Ameren is not playing fair and profit shouldn’t be the primary goal for a public utility. Without us customers you wouldn’t be in business. So please reconsider these rate hike and be a good partner. Thank you |
P202301825 | 2/8/2023 12:33 PM | We shouldn't be charged that much at all!! We are not made out of money. Your getting greedy for money. |

P202301828 | 2/8/2023 12:35 PM | I respectfully submit this comment letter about Ameren Missouri’s proposed rate increase, including the fixed fee increase from $9 to $13. Nearly three years of economic uncertainty caused by the pandemic has made it extremely difficult for low-income and working-class Missourians to make ends meet. Meanwhile, Ameren’s net income in 2021 was $990 million, a $119 million increase compared to 2020. |
P202301829 | 2/8/2023 12:37 PM | Ameren’s proposed rate increase will hurt Missourians who are struggling the most — those with low incomes & those on fixed incomes. |

P202301832 | 2/8/2023 12:40 PM | I respectfully submit this comment letter about Ameren Missouri’s proposed rate increase, including the fixed fee increase from $9 to $13. P202301833 | 2/8/2023 12:40 PM | I oppose Ameren's proposed rate hike. My two main concerns are: (1) the added fixed fee would cause an undue burden on low income customers; and (2) subjecting customers to rate hikes that help fund Ameren's operation and maintenance of coal plants is unfair given that these plants contribute to pollution and associated health problems and deaths in our community. Thanks for accepting my comments. |
P202301834 | 2/8/2023 12:41 PM | I've expressed my extreme dissatisfaction to you. The fact that I'm getting charged inordinate amounts for electricity, especially when I'm not home for half the month or more, is already evidence of egregious price gouging. Now you want to make life even more difficult. While I know YOU DO NOT care, it's still important to let you know that I'm more than a little disgusted. You need to do better! |
P202301835 | 2/8/2023 12:42 PM | I am disabled and widowed. I can't afford groceries much less an increase in the Ameren bill! I am so tired of being nickeled and dimed to death every damn year from utility increases! Now I hope the government stops giving these utility companies that increased fee. I don't even have money to buy a car!! |

P202301841 | 2/8/2023 12:46 PM | With food prices and gasoline prices going up who can afford an increase in their electric bill? The electric company has tons probably billions of money and they are gouging all of us seniors and people who don’t make a lot of money with all these increases. Please reconsider allowing this increase on our bills. |
P202301842 | 2/8/2023 12:46 PM | Just because it’s cheaper doesn’t mean you should be burning coal!! |
P202301843 | 2/8/2023 12:47 PM | This amount is to high to justify, I Do not have disposable income . This will help ruin me financially. It doesn't take much for some of us who who do not make a lot of money. |

P202301867 | 2/8/2023 1:04 PM | My husband and I are in our 80's living mostly on Social Security. We are appalled that a "public" commission, overseeing a "public" utility operates like a rubber stamp for a company that runs its business like a for-profit, private enterprise. I've been to public hearings where Ameren's customers were begging for changes that would protect our health (lined coal ash ponds, e.g.) and all we heard was jibber jabber. |

P202301870 | 2/8/2023 1:08 PM | This feels like deja vu. This is criminal that the bodies we are putting in place to protect a captive customer from being exploited from privatized infrastructure are failing to do their job. This is a tremendously greedy and unpopular things to be engaging in. The clowns in Jeff city will be paying the price with their seats for lining their friends' pockets with poor folk's money. Please vote against this rate increase and stop the funneling of money from the poor to the wealthy. |
P202301871 | 2/8/2023 1:10 PM | I respectfully submit this comment letter about Ameren Missouri’s proposed rate increase, including the fixed fee increase from $9 to $13. |
P202301873 | 2/8/2023 1:44 PM | This comment is regarding Ameren Missouri's recent proposed rate increase, which is projected to increase household electric bills by ~$12. Ameren is a for-profit utility company operating as a monopoly in most of Missouri. In recent years, the Missouri PSC seems to do little more than rubber stamp Ameren’s for-profit agenda. Ameren has NOT proved they need the money and working class Missourians can NOT afford increased rates. To the Missouri PSC, please, reject this frivolous proposal. |

P202301882 | 2/8/2023 2:07 PM | As 2016 and 2019 retirees, my husband and I are on a fixed income. We have been overwhelmingly impacted by the increased cost of all goods and cost of living - groceries (everything from fruits, vegetables, and meat to toilet paper and soap) , medical care, medication, utilities, gasoline and taxes. Please disallow the requested proposed Ameren Rate Increase. |

P202301889 | 2/8/2023 2:15 PM | This rate increase will hurt the most vulnerable because we all need electricity and with the inflated cost of everything today, any additional amount will create a burden on family budgets. PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW THIS INCREASE TO GO FORWARD! |
P202301890 | 2/8/2023 2:16 PM | People can barely afford electricity now so going to have to make a choice between food or keeping the lights on especially during these winter months because these companies like this only care about building there wealth they don't care about people health and well-being especially the disabled and elderly and low income families it's so sad what these greedy corporations still from the American people |
P202301891 | 2/8/2023 2:16 PM | I respectfully submit this comment letter about Ameren Missouri’s proposed rate increase, including the fixed fee increase from $9 to $13. |
P202301892 | 2/8/2023 2:18 PM | I respectfully submit this comment letter about Ameren Missouri’s proposed rate increase, including the fixed fee increase from $9 to $13. |
P202301893 | 2/8/2023 2:18 PM | I am opposed to Ameren's proposed rate hikes. As a moderate-income Missourian, $10-$16 extra on my electricity bill per month would have a large impact on affordability of my utilities. Additionally, I work in the affordable housing sector and know that this increase would stretch thin budgets even more. |
P202301894 | 2/8/2023 2:19 PM | I respectfully submit this comment letter about Ameren Missouri’s proposed rate increase, including the fixed fee increase from $9 to $13. |
P202301902 | 2/9/2023 7:11 AM | This is regarding the rate hike hearing today. I am opposed to spending any money on clean initiatives, which are mostly phony. I have seen what happened to Texas (much more South than we are) when it changed to windmills and people froze to death and pipes froze in whole cities. If we are short on money, ditch the inefficient electric sources and provide the boring yet stable electricity we want and are paying for. Don't waste my money. |
P202301904 | 2/9/2023 8:25 AM | I do not believe that Ameren should be able to raise rates in order to recoup costs from lobbying and Clean Air Act violations. They are responsible for those expenses out of their current profit margin. |
P202301905 | 2/9/2023 8:36 AM | I am opposed to any rate increase for Ameren Missouri. Not only should the PSC deny their rate increase request, but it also shoud get rid of all the junk fees on my electric bill. My bill for kilowatt usage was $56, but when you add in all the junk fees, I end up having to pay $74. Also, the time of use rates don't really save anyone money and are too complicated for most consumers to understand. |
P202301907 | 2/9/2023 8:50 AM | (tb) Sharon is opposed to rate increase, stated rates are getting unaffordable. |
P202301908 | 2/9/2023 9:38 AM | I am providing my input on the newly proposed rate increase that Ameren is seeking! Our utility bills continually rise with no end in sight. This new increase is going to make it even harder for a good portion of the population to pay their bills. Has the Missouri PSC ever turned down Ameren for a rate increase? I think not. Now would be a good time to star. Please decline the rate increase!! |
P202301911 | 2/9/2023 10:01 AM | (tb) Jason is opposed to the rate increase. Ameren shouldn't be allowed to raise the rate, just had a rate increase last year. Thinks they are trying to recoup form a lawsuit they lost and had to pay out a lot of money, trying to pass the burden on the the customers. They are being gready. |
P202301913 | 2/9/2023 10:22 AM | Cant afford for the electric bill to keep rising in cost. |
P202301914 | 2/9/2023 10:51 AM | Ameren's rate hike must be very critically reviewded. The proposed fixed montly charge is convenient for Ameren but a disaster for low income citizens. Ameren has for much too long insisted on continuing use of non-renewable, dirty energy. They have spent huge sums legally defending their practices. Environmental attorneys charge far in excess of 'regular' defense lawyers, $400+ an hour (that was some years ago even!), paid for by customers. Ameren needs to hear no, now. |
P202301915 | 2/9/2023 12:27 PM | (JE) Barry called regarding Ameren's rate increase request. He opposes any increase. Ameren recently received an increase last year. PSC has also granted Spire increases & MAWC has one too. Can't keep affording to pay when inflation & cost of living keeps going up. He would like PSC to deny any increase in rates |
P202301916 | 2/9/2023 12:29 PM | Please protect MO ratepayers from unnecessary recurrent monthly charges, Ameren's legal fees, and increases that target specific low income, low usage ratepayers. Ameren has a monopoly and we need you to ensure rates are fair and just because every Missourian has the right to access the electric grid. |
P202301917 | 2/9/2023 12:32 PM | This hike will drive significant numbers of low income people in our county out of their homes. |
P202301918 | 2/9/2023 12:34 PM | This rate hike is very disturbing. The financial burden on the people least able to handle it is alarming. |
P202301919 | 2/9/2023 12:35 PM | This will impact the poor and anyone on a tight fixed income. Seniors & disabled just trying to survive! It’s not necessary and we have no options so please hear our plea! |
P202301920 | 2/9/2023 12:37 PM | I can hardly pay my AmerenUE bill now. I can't afford another increase. |
P202301921 | 2/9/2023 12:39 PM | This rate increase penalizes people who cannot afford the increasing inflationary basic cost of living while company executives increase their income immensely. NO RATE INCREASE FOR AMEREN! |
P202301922 | 2/9/2023 12:39 PM | (jae)I have previously expressed my disagreement with the requested rate increase by Ameren. I would like to know how this is not a monopoly when there's no competition. I feel like all the services are taking advantage of inflationary claims to pile on and request money increases. They need to take fiscal responsibility like the rest of us. (see attached pdf) |
P202301923 | 2/9/2023 12:40 PM | I respectfully submit this comment letter about Ameren Missouri’s proposed rate increase, including the fixed fee increase from $9 to $13. |
P202301924 | 2/9/2023 12:42 PM | Ameren is asking for this fee increase at a time that is financial troubling to so many people. Young people like myself are coming to terms with the fact that the cost of living is barely affordable with the soaring prices of inflation. And when it comes to retired people, such as my parents, a fee increase is a lot to ask for when they are on a fixed income. My parents are already digging themselves into more debt to pay for their expenses and cannot afford this fee increase. |
P202301925 | 2/9/2023 12:43 PM | As a single senior citizen homeowner I respectfully ask this rate increase be denied. Groceries, gas, utilities all increasing at the same time make me and other seniors on fixed incomes fear being able to pay our bills to remain in our homes. |
P202301926 | 2/9/2023 12:45 PM | I'm struggling enough |
P202301927 | 2/9/2023 12:49 PM | I respectfully submit this comment letter about Ameren Missouri’s proposed rate increase, including the fixed fee increase from $9 to $13. |
P202301928 | 2/9/2023 12:50 PM | Continuing to use majority of coal and not a transition to renewable making it affordable and especially in the low income neighborhoods |
P202301929 | 2/9/2023 12:52 PM | I respectfully submit this comment letter about Ameren Missouri’s proposed rate increase, including the fixed fee increase from $9 to $13. |
P202301930 | 2/9/2023 12:53 PM | I respectfully submit this comment letter about Ameren Missouri’s proposed rate increase, including the fixed fee increase from $9 to $13. |
P202301933 | 2/9/2023 2:07 PM | (co) Customer called stating they're trimming trees in his neighborhood. His power got shut off not too long ago. It was supposed to be shut off from 8:00 AM to10:00 AM this morning. There's nothing they can do for him. He's just frustrated. It's cold in the house. He doesn't have any recourse. He can't do business with anyone else as a consumer. Ameren is running a monopoly. He's just a victim of the system. They could have communicated better. |
P202301936 | 2/9/2023 4:00 PM | (tb) Marie is opposed to the rate increase. She feels like they just had a raise, is a senior citizen and can only afford so much. |
P202301937 | 2/9/2023 4:12 PM | (co) Customer called stating the EEIC is dishonest and deceitful with the energy efficiency programs. |
P202301938 | 2/9/2023 4:14 PM | (co) Customer called stating they hope for no rate hikes. It's hard enough right now with all of the other increases. It's more strain on them. She's trying to help her daughter with everything. She has no income. She's using up what funds she has right now. Her daughter has student loans that are astronomical. Custody isn't cheap. Her daughter is working as much as she can. |
P202301939 | 2/9/2023 4:59 PM | These comments are in opposition to Ameren's proposed rate hike. This is an outrageous proposal, considering the separate $220 million rate increase from Ameren in February 2022. Ameren states that the increase will go toward upgrades and cleaner energy. In reality, this is an energy monopoly continuing to gouge everyday, working people. |
P202301940 | 2/9/2023 5:45 PM | Please see attached letter from Legal Services of Eastern Missouri opposing the requested rate hike. Client statements and research are included as well. |
P202301941 | 2/9/2023 7:57 PM | Hello. One year ago, Ameren hiked their rates, and now Ameren is coming back to do the same thing. Can the finance guys at Ameren not do their job? The FEB 2022 rate increase is fine, but to come back 1 year later and ask for a bigger increase is poor management, at best. If approved, my bill will be going up about a total of 17%. This is unacceptable. Furthermore, I see no added value to what I am currently paying. Customers MUST see added value to support any type of rate increase. |
P202301942 | 2/10/2023 8:22 AM | Attached please find Legal Services of Eastern Missouri's statement of opposition to the pending rate increase request. Thank you for your time and consideration. (see attached pdfs) |
P202301946 | 2/10/2023 11:15 AM | (co) Customer called stating he's against the rate increase. A perfect illustration of this is up in St. Charles where they have diluted 5 of the wells that could involve a lawsuit. He doesn't think the rate payers should have to back this up for their mistakes. It should be coming out of their funds. They've had previous mistakes such as the Taum Sauk dam break. They didn't do the required maintenance. We're paying enough. He's a stockholder. |
P202301954 | 2/10/2023 3:41 PM | I am not in favor of this rate increase without a similar increase paid to individuals and businesses that generate electricity through solar energy with panels installed on their property that is sold to Ameren. Part of Ameren's request states that their request for this rate increase is due to "increases in Ameren Missouri's fuel and purchased power costs." hopefully this means that some of the increase will be passed on to private solar electricity producers in Missouri. |
P202301955 | 2/10/2023 4:55 PM | (co) Customer called asking why we don't have any in Farmington. We used to have them in Arnold. He stated he's disabled. He can't afford it now. |
P202301959 | 2/11/2023 8:15 PM | Please explain why our rates continue to increase while the CEO is making over $9 million this year? In 2019, he was making over $4 million and in 2007 he was making 1.3 million! This is beyond unacceptable!! |
P202301961 | 2/13/2023 12:20 PM | I am extremely opposed to the Ameren MO proposed rate increase, of which only a small percentage is due to increased fuel and purchased power costs. Nowhere in their letter do they mention improving services. I live on the east side of N Berry Rd and my power goes out constantly, remaining out for hours if not days. It is only the east side of the street, NEVER the west. How can that be? I've lost hundreds of $ in groceries due to these outages while Ameren does NOTHING. Please do not approve! |
P202301962 | 2/13/2023 8:43 PM | Raising Ameren electricity rates hurts the common Missourian. If I have to pay 200$ more per year for electricity, then that is 200$ less I have to spend on my children. All the while, 7 of the top Ameren executives make over one million dollars in compensation. It is not fair to charge people more when the top executives make so much money. I have to have electricity, so I don't get a choice to switch companies. Please vote against Ameren's requested increase. |
P202301968 | 2/14/2023 8:23 AM | As typical and not surprising- you agree, at the consumers cost to raise rates for Ameren!! It’s completely against what is going on with inflation and how in the hell do you think the people are going to afford this BS! The energy assistance is a total JOKE! (See attached) |
P202301969 | 2/14/2023 8:33 AM | As customers of Ameren, we are concerned about the proposed rate hike. It is sad when Ameren makes its agenda one of fleecing its customers. We hope that the Public Service Commision looks out for the people of Missouri who work hard to pay their bills and not worry about eating or having electricity. Twelve dollars a month may not mean a lot to some people, but multiply that by the millions of people in Missouri and that is quite a hefty profit. (See attached) |
P202301970 | 2/14/2023 8:39 AM | I have been emailing both the Gov. and Chairman of PSC recently about Ameren and American Water raising rates without a vote and how that is taxation without representation. Just ran into something interesting with Ameren. I guess you can say they have this big user savings program they are launching. (See attachments) |
P202301971 | 2/14/2023 8:47 AM | Recently Ameren Missouri requested a rate and fixed monthly charge increase totaling approximately $316 million. Apparently a fairly small percentage (about $40 million) is due to increases in fuel and purchased power costs. Their letter is not clear what the majority of this rate increase is for. They mention nothing about improving services. (see attached) |
P202301983 | 2/16/2023 10:04 AM | see attached |
P202301990 | 2/17/2023 8:05 AM | Ameren has had 2 rate hikes in 2 years. First was an increase with the new meters, second was a rate hike last summer. Now they want another one? People like me, a disabled vet with limited income can't afford this. |
P202301991 | 2/17/2023 8:06 AM | Ameren has had two rate hikes in two years. One with the new meters and a second rate hike last summer. People like me, a disabled Vet, can't afford it and Ameren wants another one? |

P202301998 | 2/21/2023 8:27 AM | (JE) Roy is requesting the PSC to deny Ameren's rate increase request. Already making record profits & they just got an increase in rates last year. People are struggling with inflation & rates are already high enough. |
P202302011 | 2/22/2023 1:59 PM | Thank you for taking the time to read and acknowledge my comment. Ameren is the monopoly here and if I had the choice I would change to a different electric company. After their continuous disregard for the health of others I am against the rate increase so that they can continue to get their profit margin. They need to clean up the contamination they have done in St. Charles water reservoirs and pay for that with their profits, not my money as I am not responsible. Polluters pay. |
P202302012 | 2/22/2023 2:51 PM | I read that Ameren will be donating at least 1,000,000 dollars to a charity which is not involved with electricity or anything related to their products or services. How can you approved any rate increase when the company gives our fees away to charities like that? I don’t understand and vehemently object. |
P202302013 | 2/22/2023 3:38 PM | (tb) James is opposed to the rate increase, doesn't understand why rates are billed at two rates for 0 to 750 kwh at a higher rate and over 750 kwh or more at a lower rate. Thinks they should all be at the lower rate if the customer uses over 750 kwh's |
P202302014 | 2/22/2023 3:59 PM | Thank you for taking the time to read and acknowledge my comment. |
P202302015 | 2/23/2023 12:04 PM | Elaborating on one point in my prior comment, that Ameren is the least efficient utility despite being the most expensive. Due to the greater number and duration of outages compared to other utilities. Detailed comment attached. |
P202302022 | 2/24/2023 1:08 PM | The general rate request from Ameren Missouri is excessive and an affront to the citizens of Missouri. I would be willing to bet that over 99% of Missouri citizens did not see an increase in their 2022 income at the 11.61% rate that Ameren is asking. How can anyone expect us to afford the Ameren increase, the 50-100%+ increase Liberty Utilities is charging for nat gas in my area, the increased price at the gas pump, and a grocery bill that has skyrocketed? It's too much and disheartening. |
P202302025 | 2/27/2023 8:13 AM | Good Afternoon, I am writing to object to the proposed rate increase to Ameren Missouri customers. This is a difficult economic and financial time for many, and we are not well positioned to absorb this increase. We already have inflation from other things like groceries. I ask that you reject Ameren's rate increase request at this time. Thank you for your consideration. |
P202302029 | 2/27/2023 11:34 AM | I am writing to object to the proposed rate increase to Ameren Missouri customers. This is a difficult economic and financial time for many, and we are not well positioned to absorb this increase. We already have inflation from other things like groceries. I ask that you reject Ameren's rate increase request at this time. Thank you for your consideration. |
P202302033 | 3/1/2023 3:23 PM | (JP) "There are no provisions in anything that Ameren is going to be doing unless modern technology is going to be used. There are a lot of things that can be done that don't require modern technology that has been taken away from the customers. A lot of customers don't have computers nor do they want them. This needs to be considered when discussing an increase. I used to do audits for Ameren & would like to discuss this with someone in the decisions making process of possible." |
P202302057 | 3/13/2023 2:18 PM | I am asking the Public Service Commision to live up to its name and actually serve the public by declining Ameren's rate increase request. These are hard times for many people and they have no choice when it comes to electricity providers. Please also serve the public by denying a rate increase to Missouri American Water. I STRONGLY oppose any rate increase by Ameren Missouri.Having half a billion dollars in profit last year doesn't support the need to increase rates. |
P202302062 | 3/15/2023 10:30 AM | (JE) Veronica would like to see lines buried for grid reliability. She feels like if lines were buried there would not be as many outages |
P202302111 | 4/3/2023 11:27 PM | You should deny Amerens request for a rate increase and stop the Fuel Charge. There is never a credit only a bill. Ameren forces us to change meters to a smart meter that only benefits them and then wants to increase our rates. Their subcontractor changed my meter out without getting my permission while I was in the middle of a web conference for work and I lost power. When contacting them about this they don't even care, telling me its really their meter and they have the right to change it |
P202302123 | 4/20/2023 2:32 PM | Ms. Roche called to express her frustration with AMI meters. She has concerns about health risks, particularly since the meter is on the outer wall of her young son's bedroom. She realizes she can opt out, the that option is cost-prohibitive. She would like the issue reviewed with her hope that another, less exensive or no cost opt out would be available. |
P202302126 | 4/24/2023 2:59 PM | (co) Customer called stating a couple years ago he put solar panels on his house. He pays back on them, thinks 85 cents a kWh hour. They only pay him 28 cents back. He thinks it's ridiculous. In the summertime, 600-700 are more produced than used. He still has to pay them a little money. |
P202302155 | 6/6/2023 9:03 AM | (JE) Joyce does not to have to pay for any opt out fees related to AMI. She thinks that she should be able to opt out and there should not be any charges related to that. She thinks current amount is too high. |
P202400008 | 7/5/2023 9:06 AM | I have been without power since July 1. Ameren's outage map has yet to give a reason for the outage. It still says "Not yet determined." So I don't know why my power is out. And I have no idea when it will be back on, because Ameren will not give us any communications as to when they will restore power for my neighborhood. This would be understandable for the first day or so after a major storm. But this is day 5. It's unacceptable. |
P202400010 | 7/5/2023 10:21 AM | Ameren has no plan for restoring power in a storm-related outage. We have had lines down in our neighbor's backyard now at 66 hours. Please see attached pdf. |
P202400012 | 7/5/2023 12:36 PM | (JP) "Ameren needs to invest in going underground with their electric cables and equipment. I am constantly having power outages when I never had them prior to living here in the City. Going underground would solve so many of these problems. I feel like Ameren is choosing to ignore my area b/c we are less populated and in the City so we're always last to get restored. I know this will cost Ameren money but in the long run it would be better." |
P202400023 | 7/7/2023 12:28 PM | (JP) "There was an outage in my home from 7.1.23 from 7.6.23 and I am very happy and very grateful for Ameren for restoring the service to my house and my neighborhood. They did a fantastic job. Thank you for sending out all of the trucks and workers to get the service restored." |
P202400024 | 7/7/2023 2:40 PM | (co) Customer called stating that she's home during the day. It's more for her electric. People on disability and senior citizens are home during the day. She's on a fixed budget. |
P202400038 | 7/17/2023 9:05 AM | (JP) "I would like Ameren to partner with various stakeholders including municipalities in determining vulnerabilities pertaining to Right of Ways and vegetation management (ex. City of STL and STL county) to make sure that the electrical lines are free & clear of trees/debris that compromise the ability to provide continuous service to homes during storms to curtail outages." |
P202400039 | 7/17/2023 9:44 AM | (JP) "I just think if Ameren cuts down trees during an outage, they should have to come back and clean it up within a reasonable amount of time once service is restored to all customers. They already do that when they do scheduled maintenance, why can't they do it as part of the outage clean up. Even if its 10 days - 2 weeks later." |
P202400040 | 7/17/2023 10:58 AM | Ameren needs to get into Timber Run Subdivision and start clearing trees from power lines. Too many outages, and nothing's being done about it. Please see attached pdf. |
P202400041 | 7/17/2023 12:41 PM | JP "There was no good communication from Ameren regarding the recent outages. Any text messages or phone calls we got providing a restoration time were not accurate and we could never get anyone on the phone. I've left messages for someone from Ameren to call me back but it's been several days and no one has. There are several people w/ medical equipment in this area so it is a concern." |
P202400073 | 7/31/2023 9:32 AM | (JE) Cathy wants the PSC to be aware of the service reliability issues with Ameren. She thinks that Ameren should improve their infrastructure & fix the number of outages they have had in St. Louis area. |
P202400094 | 8/7/2023 1:23 PM | I don't understand why the commission would give Ameren a rate increase when they can't keep the electricity on whenever it storms. My power was out for extended periods three different times in July. And yet I'm paying more for electricity now because you all gave them an increase. |
P202400101 | 8/11/2023 7:25 AM | We have numerous power outages at our house, mostly due to tree limbs taking down lines. The tree trimming is very poor. Ameren reportedly has plans that have not been put into action to bury sections of the line so as to reduce or eliminate the power outages. Please urge Ameren to correct this problem. Thank you. |
P202400104 | 8/14/2023 8:59 AM | I wanted to express my frustration towards Ameren and how we continue to lose electricity in our neighborhood, and at their inability to help create a more stable solution. (see attached pdf) |
P202400116 | 8/18/2023 1:18 PM | (co) Customer called about the TOU rates. He stated that he has a spouse that he has to keep the house at a certain temperature for, so she can breathe. He's getting ready to retire. He's not going to be able to afford this extra. He asked why this wasn't brought to their attention for a vote. |
P202400125 | 8/24/2023 8:38 AM | (co) See attached. Customer emailed stating that in the last two years they've lost power multiple times. There have been fires while downed wires were on the ground. Their yard is regularly driven on to access wires. They understand Ameren has a plan to correct this situation by burying power lines. They're writing in the interest of expediting these plans. They would appreciate our efforts to correct this situation. |
P202400126 | 8/25/2023 8:32 AM | (co) Customer called stating that around 5:30 p.m. the electricity went off. They left at 8:32 p.m. and didn't start until 6:25 a.m. They just didn't do it. They left people all night long to burn up. A lot of elderly people and with heart conditions. Heat index was 116. She just doesn't want it to happen again. Apparently, they can get it on if they want to. |
P202400189 | 9/13/2023 4:15 PM | The PSC could stop allowing Ameren to monopolize the entire state. They own the whole state and control the rates and the Commissioners are continuing to line their pockets by allowing Ameren to double their rates every year. |
P202400203 | 9/15/2023 1:50 PM | (co) Customer called stating that they're allowed to charge higher rates because we don't say stop. This is a rigged game. It's a scam. It's another way to control when electricity is used. |
P202400234 | 9/22/2023 | David is not happy over new rates from the last rate case ER-2022-0337. Thinks the rates are too high & the PSC should lower them back down. Did not want to provide any other information outside of first name |
P202400243 | 9/29/2023 12:20 PM | Carrie wants to opt out of AMI meter without having to pay any fees. She does not think Ameren should charge fees for opting out |
P202400249 | 10/2/2023 11:53 AM | "It seems unfair and highly illegal that a company can charge such high amounts to opt-out of a smart meter for safety reasons." |
P202400274 | 10/30/2023 2:51 PM | Digital Meter "Your Rate is Changing" notice is confusing. Consumer disagrees with what he believes the notice is stating, which is a rate increase of $85 per month vs what consumer thinks it should be -$7 per month. The notice is not clear according to the consumer. *See attached |
P202400275 | 10/31/2023 10:29 AM | The caller expressed his disapproval of summer rates being higher than winter rates. More than $750 in bills. Four cents more per kWh. We will give you a break in the winter when you won't need it. |
P202400285 | 11/27/2023 4:34 PM | He uses cpaps, as does his wife, and he has asthma. He made an application to register medical equipment. Because adults are not covered, he was turned down. He's just not into it. This kind of impact is being felt by thousands of people. |
P202400365 | 2/26/2024 11:18 AM | I have told Ameren that I am not to have a smart meter put on my house as it continually emits radiation and is attached to the wall of my room, and already having cancer, the radiation levels will increase my chances of it returning. I have a doctor's letter. Ameren told me I can get an analog one and pay $100 up front and then an extra $40 monthly, but I won't agree to that, because I don't have the money. I'm on disability, and I shouldn't have to pay more from my medical conditions to be able to not be attacked constantly by them. |
P202400379 | 3/8/2024 2:04 PM | Regarding the smart meter opt out$100.00 fee and the $40.00 meter reading monthly fee- I feel this is bogus. We should be reimbursed for these fees. Many people feel this is an unfair charge. Please take into consideration waiving/reimbursing the fees and not penalize people for not choosing the smart meters. |
P202400689 | 4/11/2024 8:16 AM | Please stop Ameren from raising rates again. People, like me, on fixed income can't afford utilities to continually raise rates. I get charged just for being a customer, then charged for electricity used, charged taxes I don't understand & taxed for items that the personal property tax is supposed to take care of. Any more charges and I won't be able to afford heating & cooling. Stop the insanity. |
P202400738 | 5/21/2024 10:36 AM | Morrigan called PSC on 5/21. She would like Ameren to not tree trim on a 5-year cycle. She believes a 3–4-year cycle like they used to do should be required. Would prefer them to do it more to prevent power outages. Ameren told her they now tree trim on a 5-year cycle in her area. |
P202400739 | 5/21/2024 | Leah is opposed to any opt-out fees for AMI meters. She believes that if a customer has a health issue like hers there should be no charge to opting out. She also believes that the current fees are way too high. |
