I wasn’t even aware of the previous rate changes until after my gas bill was astronomically high in comparison to what it normally.I encourage the committee to consider what a fair, competitive rate would be, and what is Spire providing in the way of benefits to Missourians such vs what are they costing us in terms of money and in terms of our shared environment.

This attempted rate hike is an egregious attempt to make money at the expense of consumers, with those with the least being most affected by this change. As essentially a legal monopoly, there should be few, if any, price increases most years. We have already seen a huge (to the level of causing us to redo our monthly budget) increase in our gas bill. To ask for another is nothing but greedy.

Spire said that the increase would only be around $20, which was completely false. She states that it is putting a real life changing strain on those with a fixed limited income who are just above the income guidelines for assistance. She asks the PSC to not approve further increases and to consider the burden these increases have already had on those above the assistance income guidelines, such as retired or lower middle class.

On our bills we have a higher pipe line charge than the gas we are using. I would like to see an audit from the time Laclede Gas became Spire. The headlines always say $5 or $10 a month- but that is NOT THE REALITY for Missourians. My house if very efficient and the winter has been mild. There is nothing else I can do to keep warm. My gas bills this winter were more than double the amount paid the previous year, yet energy consumption was less during the same time period. What Spire claimed as a few dollars more per month was actually over $60 compared to the same time period last year with less consumption. Execs at the top should take a pay cut to cover salaries instead of giving themselves a 20 million raise. Do NOT allow Spire to raise gas rates or fees.

I live in KC where too many people struggle to pay their utility bills on top of rent already. People go cold in the winter to afford their own rent, or avoid having their gas shut off. After failing to provide consistent and safe service in the extreme weather of last February, it does not make sense to push the price onto the people who have no choice but to use them, esp. in wake of large earnings for Spire.

We have seen our utility bills skyrocket over the last few month. Our neighbors to the east (Troost) are already impacted by the utilities disregard for humane health. We advise you. to hold Spire and Evergy accountable for the well being of our beautiful city.Spire as they have just announced to raise rates. We need a community oversight on our public utilities.

They already increased customer rates recently, and we saw a significant increase in our natural gas bill as a result - much more than we've ever paid, so much so that I was worried we may need to take out a loan so our bank account wasn't overdrawn. Where is the MPSC in helping protect the interest of the citizens of Missouri from price gauging? P202300464	9/17/2022 12:12 PM	Spire has consistently charged higher rates every year-in particular during summer months. When contacted about this, they offer no explanation. They simply read your meter, report that all their equipment is working fine, and claim you need to replace your own equipment to lower usage. This despite the fact that at our home we have replaced appliances with more efficient ones, replaced light bulbs with LEDs, lowered use, and installed a smart thermostat. Clearly Spire greed is the cause.

The Inflation reduction act offers significant incentives for Electric Stoves, Dryers, and most importantly Heat Pump HVAC units with an $8,000 rebate. With the significant increase in Solar and Wind Production in the US, it is going to clearly be cheaper and cheaper over time to heat your home (at least partially through an electric heat pump) with electricity instead of gas. The people we serve struggle with disconnections even with current rates. An increase will cause more of them to seek help from EnergyCare and other agencies that provide utility assistance. Hopefully, rates stay reasonable and more resources can be put into energy efficiency efforts for low-income people (to lower their energy burden) that are easier to access and more customer friendly.

He's upset that Spire is allowed to charge him $65 just for turning the gas back on if it's within 12 months of shut-off. Twelve months is too long. It should be 6 or 7 months, and $65 is excessive just to turn the gas back on.

Spire is charging me $174.00 for the cost of gas and according to a representative this is what Spire is paying to the "Pipeline". My delivery charges for the month was $82.79. Currently we have a downtown mixed-use project under development that will add 9 apartments to help address a serious housing shortage in the community. This project and a companion project represent an investment of $1 million in the community - solely with private funds. I was shocked to hear back from Spire that it would take 2 months or longer for service to be provided. This is due to their Eng. & Const. division having a considerable backlog with 300 projects. If they are 300 projects behind, requiring 2-3 months to evaluate a simple commercial service and install 11 feet of gas line, this is the result of understaffing and mismanagement. (See attached)

There was a notation that 103 CCFs of gas were used between 7/14/24 and 7/23/24, with a note that a meter exchange had taken place. The remainder of the month's usage was indicated as 5 CCFs. My assumption is that my meter was changed on 7/23 - they did not contact me that this meter replacement was being performed or had been performed. I called Spire on 8/26 and their representative said that the bill will be adjusted. If this correction occurs, I will not need to file a complaint, but my concern is that Spire is doing this to more customers than me. Customers may not notice the overbilling,*See Attach
