I urge the Public Service Commission to disapprove this surcharge increase after Spire was approved for rate increases in 2021, 2022 and 2023. While the U.S. economy has been improving, inflation has hit us hard in recent years. In the last year alone, every one of my monthly bills have increased — from car, health and house insurance to mortgage, utility and food costs. This is a first- time occurrence for me. Most of these bills have increased by $15 to $30 per month. But not my Spire costs. My average payment plan rate for Spire increased from $170 in January 2023 to $222 in September 2023.
