P202500020 | 7/9/2024 1:03 PM | American Water Works gross profit for the quarter ending March 31, 2024 was $1.011B, a 7.78% increase year-over-year. American Water Works gross profit for the twelve months ending March 31, 2024 was $4.307B, a 10.78% increase year-over-year. American Water Works annual gross profit for 2023 was $4.234B, a 11.66% increase from 2022. Missouri American Water does not need a rate increase to offset new construction and maintenance, as they already have a 10.78% increase in gross profit from the twelve months ending in March 31st with a 4.307 Billion profit. |
P202500907 | 10/30/2024 9:21 AM | The rate hike Missouria American Water has asked the Commission to approve is not only outrageous, but also the prime example of corporate greed. First and foremost, the rate hike goes much above the threshold of the percentage amount that a Water Company and the Service Commission could possibly grant. We've been hearing for the past 20 years that Missouri American Water is going to upgrade their infrastructure. Instead of using those prior rate hikes, they've used that money to line the pockets of their corporate executive's pocketbooks. A 34.4% is financially not economical to anyone in Missouri that has to use their service. Usually, a utility is only allowed a maximum of 15% for a rate increase under current legislation rules. |
P202500912 | 11/1/2024 4:36 PM | "This is in reference to the proposed rate hike in sewer fees requested by American Water. American Water only provides the sewer where I live and not the water. The City of Hallsville sold the sewer rights to American Water a few years ago and since then our sewer rates have been steadily going up. When Hallsville still owned the sewer my bill in April 2021 was $25.02." *Please see attached for full comment. |
P202500924 | 11/7/2024 3:36 PM | HOA Sewer Rates were $40.00/month. We were assured at that time that our sewer rates would not increase if we sold our subdivision’s sewer company to Missouri American Water. Since then, we have seen several increases: November 2021 - $44.03 January – February 2022 - $44.03 March 2022 - $44.03 June 2023 - $53.83 August 2024 - $55.63 Wastewater Service Charge (1 X $53.83) Requesting for 2025: $82.65 In four years, the customers’ monthly sewer bill will have an 87.7% increase if this rate is approved. From 2024 to 2025 there will be a 53.5% increase in our rate (from 53.83 to $82.65). This increase is well above what can be justified by inflation. What measures have been taken to reduce cost? |
