My base usage rates from American Water company have increased over 33% since June of 2023 through May of 2026. • June 2023 Unit Rate: $0.77604 per unit. • May 2026 Unit Rate: $1.03749 per unit. In addition my Metro Sewer Bills have increased over 19% for the same time period. This may not be meaningful to many, however to us Seniors this amounts to real money with little benefits to show for the increases, no improvement in service or water quality, and we have no choice but to just pay it. All of the notifications and advertisements around ways for us to reduce water usage, has little effect if American just keeps raising rates. This is a publicly held company that continues to report higher profits—apparently at the expense of us.

Dan is opposed to any increase in rates. Was with city of Eureka and MAWC has had so many rate increases over the recent years. He is paying 10 times more than he used to with the city. Cannot afford any new increases. Wants PSC to deny rate increase request.

Missouri American Water wants to increase rates again. They seem to do this a lot. It is not fair that they just increase rates when they feel like it. They may have reasoning behind it, but what about the consumers? I am a senior living on social security, and when Eureka sold our water system to them my water bill went up substantially. I paid for a year or more before the water was even connected and running into Eureka. Now we have the hyperscale data center issue. Our government says we the consumers will not pay for the water and electric. However, I am skeptical and believe this rate increase is indeed connected to the hyperscale data centers going in around Missouri. We should not have any rate increase.
